Cleaning My Reusable Cloth Towels!

  • This is how I clean my reusable cloth towels after dirty jobs!
I have a color coded towel system to keep everything separate, and for the dirty jobs like the bathroom - they get a nice lil spa treatment.
I use cloth towels with a wide weave because they do the best job at absorbing moisture rather than just pushing it around.
Boil your cotton cloths for about 15 minutes and sprinkle in a little bit of baking soda.
Then rinse them in cool water. I place mine outside to dry. The sun helps with stains, and on a warm day just dries them super fast.
After they’re dry, I throw them into the hamper and wash them like a regular load of clothes.
If you have issues with using cloth towels because they’re not absorbing moisture OR they’re kind of stinky etc. DO THIS!
(especially if you’re using homemade laundry ‘detergent’ - I can do a-whole-nother post on that, but it does’t work. It’s laundry soap and the soap will get trapped into the fibers.
The soap will attract more dirt and oil causing it harder to get things clean and build a barrier preventing your cloths from working effectively.
Stripping your cloth towels in this way, should give you a reset!
Have you ever stripped your towels before?

I work for a cleaning company and we use color coded microfibers for everything. Toilets are red, glass is green, and touch surfaces blue. Works perfect!

I use a color coded system for cleaning rags too; however, I wash and sanitize like with like. I don’t wash toilet cloths with kitchen cloths.

You’re not gross, just unafraid of the microbial vultures waiting to feast upon our bodies

Boiling them to sanitize them is a good idea, but doesn’t your laundry machine have adjustable load size?

I love this but the only thing i wouldnt use a cloth towel for is the toilet. I would never feel comfortable using them again for the tub or cleaning them in a pot from my kitchen. Diisposable scrubbers/paper towels are my go to for the toilet and i wish everyone would do the same because its much cleaner.

Bleh, you did not boil a toilet towel in a pot you use to cook with? Sorry no, throw that away. The whole thing, throw it away. There is no way you can sanitize it enough to get rid of the biohazard.

Sorry, but many times these young women come up with unheard of things. It never occurs to them to wash the cloths they use to clean the bathroom along with the ones they use for other tasks in the house "I don't understand this." Always use glove to clean the bathroom. All bathroom items, gloves, cloths and products should be separated from the rest. Kitchen cleaning cloths for the kitchen only. I wet the sponge and the cloth that I use in the sink and to clean the counters and put them in the microwave for two minutes and that's how I disinfect them, if you don't have a microwave, in a boiling pot for ten minutes and that's how you disinfect them.
Remember, it depends on the material of your furniture and the products and materials you will use to clean it. Mirrors, glass and ceramics, the same cloth and the same product, I use white vinegar and water in equal parts and the vinegar smell evaporates almost immediately. It is best to have your cleaning pipelines close to each of the areas to be worked on. Every time I wash the clothes in the machine I add a cup of white vinegar, the clothes are very clean without the smell of vinegar and you will also be disinfecting your machine. Remember that your health depends on your hygiene habits! Good luck!
