I have no electronics knowledge whatsoever and am finding this to be fascinating to watch. Thanks for posting it.

What is a slow start on a 5328wk

There is no slow start on this model. I think I was referring to designs that use an indirectly-heated tube rectifier.

Awesome Russ you took the challenge from Kempin. I'll be watching this series and hoping you can revive it. Really cool to get a little understanding of what resembles Chinese writing to me. Glad the transformer held and went to 100% without a problem. Here's to deciphering the schematic and getting in the heads of the engineers behind it and everyone who repaired it afterwards. :-) -Brad

H2Vinyl yeah, it's an interesting challenge. I'm also learning some things about early stereo designs. Thanks for watching!

Yeah! Russ, I can't thank you enough for doing this. You can yell at me for doing some of the cap replacement wrong and it looks like I already made mistakes. I just tried connecting the new ones at the same place the old ones were, but, as you are discovering, there is no room under there for anything extra so I just did my best. This is super exciting!

Jeff Kempin haha, yeah no worries. You did a pretty good job with the soldering. Have you done solder work before?

Electronic soldering, no. But I used to make stained glass which is pretty much all soldering, so my experience is with that. I don't know if it translates, but like I said, I tried my best. Just let me know about what parts you need and I'll send you the $$$.

Jeff Kempin soldering is all about temperature control, so yeah that definitely applies!
