Yes I would have thought they could have powered off the runway and done a loop rather than forcing QF171 to do a 10 minute loop around Wellington but then it might have been nice scenery for the passengers I guess.. It would be good to be able to ask ATC for a reason.
Hi Blair - it was a real mystery.. Pity we can't listen to ATC which might have provided a clue.. but one of those times when things didn't work out perfectly..
Wow Ivy.. That sounds like an amazing video camera.. you could do some wicked quality stuff with that one.. I use a Panasonic HC-X1500 which can livestream straight to mobile if I want..

Possible runway incursion,/pilot deviation? Seems to me the Fiji airways maybe failed to hold short and forced the Qantas to abort its approach.
