- Today's aircraft find is a remarkable aircraft that caused me many hours of further research. On this day I discovered an abandoned supersonic fighter in Mojave California. The joy of exploration is to discover and on this day I was awakened to the amazing history of Swedish aircraft design.
Sweden has a long history of excellent airplane designs. They have been designing and building aircraft since before WW2. This airplane was one of the best all round fighter/interceptors in the 1960's. Saab first flew the Draken 35 in 1955 and many are still flying today. This one was built for the Danish Air Force. In 1994 she was sold to the National Test Pilot School and relocated to Mojave California. The school used this two seat version to train pilots until 2009.

SAAB Scania was the full name of the manufacturer. SAAB = Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget (Svenska = Swedish, Aeroplan = Airplane, Aktiebolaget "AB" = the form of company) ... Scania = Is from the company that merged with SAAB in 1968, Scania Vabis ... They used to make airplane, trucks and cars. But the separate was spliced in three in 1990, Saab Automobile as a part of General Motors and in 1995 when Scania AB for the trucks and Saab AB for the airplane (etc) became two independent companies. its not a jet trainer, its a 2 seater variant of a jet fighter..
A jet trainer implies its designed for training... this is not.. its designed as fighter,
the TF35 dual cockpit dual controls is simply to help people transition to the type with an instructor..
Note T F35 ; not T35 TrainerFIGHTER : the plane is fully combat capable.. jet trainers are not.

This specific aircraft is an SK-35XD type, XD stands for Export Denmark SK designates it as a two seat trainer.
Serial number 1151 was delivered 14:th of October 1971
