*This guy can do anything with miniatures...*
That's a skill may men would like to have.
WOW! That craftsmanship is EXQUISITE!! Beautiful work!! Thank you for sharing!
Yes!! especially the crooked roof! hahha. thanks a lot! ;)
i really understand what you say about going fast, there is a flow to things, sometimes fast is good. its not necessarily rushing or sloppy. in the end, you made it look very good. you dont have to be super careful and delicate ALL the time.
Exactly! couldn't agree more!
The rooftiles trick left me speechless.
Awesome and inspiring work, as always !
Glad to hear that! Thanks! 😉😉
This is literally the coolest thing I’ve ever seen 😳
Looking absolutely gorgeous!
However, in budism the act of cleaning also cleans your soul. This means that this dojo would never be left in this state as long as it's still in use.
You also have the doors that slide and the wooden grates are fixed in place with some smaller sliding doors behind them instead. No matter what, it's absolutely gorgeous and I love the grungy feeling!
haha cool, thanks for this info! Knowing how pedantic Japanese people can be it makes sense the dojo would be clean. Unfortunately the more you weather the miniature the more realistic it will look, so my hands were tied hahah.. Thanks for watching! ;)
@@sliceoflifefilm yeah nah it looks amazing anyway!
This is so underrated! Thank you for uploading the pattern.
You're so welcome!
Your sense of humor is as great as your work
I always give a SoL video a thumbs up even before I even start the video. No regret.
Thanks for the trust!! 😉😉🤘🤘
i realised i won't be able to make this with only the tools i've got in the very beginning, but still stayed and watched till the end - the process was mesmerizing and your commentary had this slight humor i really enjoyed XD thanks for the tutorial!
WOHOOO Can't wait to see the final product
7:28 I think the unprecise nature of this stuff is what makes it stand out from full CG (Especially when done alongside CG builds and laser cutting etc). It's hard to fake the unprecise nature of real world stuff when a computer is doing all the work! And indeed as you said, life is too short 😁
Fantastic! I’m looking forward to seeing the final shots.
I loved slice of life, and I can’t wait to see what you work on next.
I came here looking for Japanese style terrain for a new table top game I bought, ended up laughing so much at your commentary. Great vid, the dojo ended up looking great
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Amazing..Equipments are very expensive but makes everything fast.IThanks for sharing. It's amazing watching and admiring your work.
Incredible combination of techniques for an incredible outcome.
Looks awesome, so glad you are continuing making these kinds of videos. They are invaluable and are teaching me a lot. You guys are the reason I bought a camera slider.
Happy to hear that!! 😀😉😉♥️
Love watching your videos. Takes me back to the miniature effects days.
Thanks for sharing this. I plan to make a Dojo for my Z scale model railroad
Thank you for watching! :)
SO beautiful... GREAT model... Now about the dojo: Fuggin awesome!
izgleda fenomenalno, pogotovo detalji, jedva čekam vidjet final product
Love your building process and this commentary was brilliant
Incredable work! Looks fast but very-very cool! Glad to hear you watched Luke Towan`s channel. He has many useful modeling and diarama building tips and tricks. I can't wait to see the next installments and of course the final documentary! Great goal! ;)
Yes Luke is the man!!! Thanks a lot!! 😉😉
Genuinely laughed when you said 'without the fence the miniature people might fall off'
Awesome build
haha thanks, glad you liked my stupid jokes 😂
Adore this, super happy to see more awesome miniatures and build diaries from you. Love the way you break this stuff down, looking forward to more!
Thanks a lot!!
Looks awesome,
The result is very nice but I remain faithful to everything handmade, the laser printer makes it easy but takes away the pleasure of creating everything by yourself. thanks you.
I absolutly love your projects ! The filming will be very interesting !
Yea! I hope we dont screw up 😂
Fantastic stuff. Having spent a large chunk of my 20s and 30s in Japan, You definitely captured the spirit of the structures there.
oh cool. glad to hear that!!
Wow, this building looks awesome. Thumbs up
Great work. And yeah, Luke on Boulder Creek Railroad is a great source for clever build ideas.
Indeed he is!
Found you from the Flux review (and stoked to get one now), and so glad I did. Fantastic build and entertaining video, thank-you!
glad you like it!!
What a meticulous and wonderful job, splendid Dojo!! 👍👍
Genius! Amazingly detailed miniature! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
2:25 is so satisfying to watch
So detailed! Love your humor!
Really awesome work!! Very inspiring I may have to give this a try some day. Thank you for sharing.
Truly, truly impressed.
Incredibly beautiful! You guys are magic!
wow !! congratulations, well done !! thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed the process
Some great techniques in this project 👍🏽
Ok you've motivated me to get off my ass and make more videos! Thanks! Love the piece and how you've presented it!
Looks gorgeous, love it! Very inspirational.
Your craft is really inspring and wonderful. Also I think you are really funny as well! Thanks for a great video!
Thanksalot!
This is meant for a short documentary? Your work is so inspiring . And crazy too. Keep it coming, pretty please.
Highly entertaining and brilliant result👍🏼😊
Awesome stuff! Glad to see you're still busy on cool projects :)
Great work as usual, Laser Cutting Luka!
😂😂
AWESOME!!! Can’t wait for part 2 ❤️
Thanks! ;)
I'm a new subscriber. I have only seen this video and the dojo diorama so far. Your videos are so much fun to watch! You are hilarious! Looking forward to watching more of your channel.
Awesome! Glad to hear that and thank you for subscribing! ;)
Very cool! I create feudal Japanese buildings with a plotter myself.
Thank you. Good luck with your projects!
Great stuff man!! Love the moss and leaves!
Me too! Best part!
The effect made by 3ds max modeling is also very good!
Fantastic!
Great job and a lot of fun as usual! Your english has improved too!
its cause i edited out the crappy parts, haha
Fear does not exist in this miniature Dojo!
Hahaaha! 😂
beautiful work as always. cant wait to see the rest done up.
Great video,keep it up!🌋
Sieht echt super aus. Ich freue mich auf den neuen Film sehr! Jedva cekam Film. Veliki pozdrav
As usual a great job! Can't wait to see the next part 😄
Excellent work!
Beautiful work dude. I know I watched them in reverse order but… so great so see more content from yourselves. 🐢
Reverse order???? Man, that will screw up my OCD now.
@@sliceoflifefilm Think of it as an archaeology dig then. ;)
@@Steve_1492 ok that actually helped! :D
Amazing work guys!
Fabulous work !!!

Excellent
Impressive work.
Another fantastic video!
Fantastic.
Looks amazing
Great work👏👍👍! However, some details are strange. For example, traditional Japanese buildings do not have chairs but use tatami mats.
Beautiful
Absolutely amazing 👌😘
There is awesome!!!
amazing
Perfect
My compliments
Magnifique 💪🤩👍
Now we're talking. 😀👽
Beautifull
amazing!
Fala Vid! Kacemo na pivu? 😂😉

Great!
In ancient india, they have vaastu shastras which is about Indian architecture, they are followed by Indians in india, not just going on a whim
Time and consideration is taken to create Indian architecture and not just speed through it, otherwise it’s just making a joke of ancient indigenous architecture of india
The Japanese wouldn’t like the quick carefree work either of their culture by a firangi
Hell yeah
Love it, really enjoyed the video!
me too, guys
Wow
use liberal amounts of hand lotion when using super glue... hands slightly slick but not greasy.
thanks for the tip!
building this in minecraft
I printed this and it looks so much smaller than what you have. I printed it using a normal hp smart printer. is the size different from the laser machine?
Probably the size got messed up as this file was intended for laser cutting.. but you can always scale it up and print again! ;)
Really awsome build!! Love your humor too ;-). I don't have a lasercutter so any chance you would print and sell the parts for me and ship them? ;-) You make awesome video's!!
you can download the plans here, and open them in most vector programs. tinkershare.com/tinkers/japanese-dojo-miniature
@@sliceoflifefilm oh wauw, thank you so much!!! 🙏🙏🙏💪♥
Can you make more if I send you designs and post them as an arts craft kit to self build? 🙏🏻
haha, no time for side projects unfortunately!
@@sliceoflifefilm :(
Hello, is it possible to film miniature models with the osmo pocket 2 camera? Have you tried it?
Hey! Hm, no, we haven't tried it... good question. If you find out let us know! ;)
Is there a pdf or something where the measurements are available? I don’t have a laser cutter but would love to make this by hand.
Well, the .svg file that's in the description can be opened in any design program like illustrator or photoshop... not sure if the measurements will be correct, but you could scale it according to your needs, print it, and make it from paper. Hope that helps, good luck!
@@sliceoflifefilm Thanks, that worked!!
what wood did u use? balsa? mdf?
you are hilarious
what kind of paper did you use to make the roof?
just random corrugated cardboard I had lying around.
I want to eat that moss!
Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the struggles and madness in this world today, God is full of justice, mercy and love.
Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans
. The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom.
If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He will help us through the struggle, the stress, and anything we experience in the world. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves, we need Him to help us as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction).
He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place.
He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it.
He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way.
Christ says in John 16:33: I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]
- (AMPLIFIED version)
NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. Regardless of what you've done or what you're going through you CAN make it through Jesus.
Amen!
How did you curve the roof?
It was made from cardboard so it was very pliable. It just curved along the profile of the roof beams
@@sliceoflifefilm thank you!
Ok. So I'm not a miniature maker person, go ahead and come at me...
... But I am SUPER confused why diorama makers do this thing where they take a build that looks a certain way... in this case white with dark wood accents... And then spray it all in one colour, then in another colour, then another colour, getting more and more finicky and detailed, to land at a place that is meant to LOOK like what they started with. Like, dojos WERE paper and dark wood, sometimes with red lacquer accents but lacquer was super pricey so that was generally saved for temples. You took something that was literally authentic and then gave it what I'm beginning to see is "The Diorama Treatment"... and I don't get it. I just watched someone build a medieval tavern with wood beams and plaster... which is what they WOULD have built it with back then... and then prime, prime, paint, modpodge, paint, detail paint, wash, second wash, dry brush in three colours and finish with pigments and airbrushing. Why?
Actually really though, why? I'm trying to learn before I build a thing.
Regardless, it's gorgeous. Well done!
Haha, I must admit that's a very good point. 🤣🤣
Model makers probably love painting so they complicate it just so they would have more work and enjoy the process, haha...
But I can try and give you at least a few reasons. When people coat the entire model in modpodge it's because it gives a hard coat over all the materials, which could be useful if they want the model to be more durable, or if it's used in gaming. Materials like plaster and balsa wood are not super hard, and if someone would scratch it there goes your paint job. So modpodge "fixes" it all and protects the model.
In my case, I didnt' really like the look of MDF for the wooden posts and I wanted to paint them, but MDF doesn't take paint well so I needed to prime it. I decided to use white primer to match the paper walls. Sometimes it's just about "priming" the materials so everything would be unified and take the paint well, because paint does not adhere to all materials in the same way. It's kinda like painters prime the canvas with gesso before painting to get better paint adhesion.
But partially I agree with you. Some steps could often be skipped and no one would know.
But as I said, we like to paint 😄
Tnx for the comment!
@@sliceoflifefilm Wow! THANK YOU for explaining 😊 I really appreciate it. It's kinda been driving me crazy because I am certain that there's a reason, just couldn't figure it out. That's super helpful!!
