Personally, I think this is the best episode I've shot on my channel since it's start 4 weeks ago. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it. Also, check below.😎👇🏾 If you want to purchase tickets for the concert hall. Please visit their website at: festivalhill.org/#/
The faster the world turns the more we seek nostalgia. Antiquing might be considered recreational shopping, escapism, or therapeutic. Have fun, life is too short.
If you like antiquing, then Round Top Texas is a capital of antiquing in all the state of Texas. I believe the two big festivals happen in March and in October.
I totally agree with your statement because I've been doing exactly so. I won't even watch modern television anymore because it's sickening. I now watch old black and white movies that were popular in my parent's hay day. I really wish we could all click our heels three times and go back to better days 😢
I just discovered your channel & I love it! I’m 68 & have lived in Texas all my life but there’s a lot of little towns, like Roundtop, that I never heard of. And I never knew, or even imagined, there was a concert hall in Texas that was as big & beautiful as this one in Roundtop! I’m going to try to make it there for a concert this summer! I hope you do a video on Rusk Texas. Rusk even has the huge steps that led to a college in the late 1800’s-early 1900’s. They also have the longest foot bridge in Texas!
Hey there Bobbie. Thanks for watching the video and THANKS For the Rusk, Texas referral. I just checked it out on Google maps and this has This Small Town written all over it and I WILL be visiting there in the future.😎
Yes, per my research I saw that, but in a way I'm glad to have come during the off-season to allow me to film as if I had the town all to my own to give y'all a better view and experience. Thanks for watching! 😎
@@ThisSmallTownWhile not much of an antique guy myself, the Fall and Spring shows offer a lot of great photo ops. You definitely need to get out there in mid-October for the Fall show, just for the experience.
That concert hall is beautiful thank you for letting him tell the history of that place and thanks for going around to the different towns I love history and old places and things
@@ThisSmallTown You did an awesome job interviewing that gentleman. He and the pie lady seemed genuinely nice. I'm calling Pie Haven next week to see if they have ice cream or if I need to bring my own Blue Bell.
LOL everyone I met in the town was extremely nice at every location I went to in the pid lady did offer me whipped cream and vanilla ice cream on top of my pecan, but I said it that would be too much. 😩😂
@@ThisSmallTown 🤣Naaah...I'm about to hit somebody up for some insulin. I'm not a diabetic but my system is about to be tested..Thanks for looking out.
My wife and I, by accident, drove along 287 from La Grange to Hwy 290 during one of the antique weekends. Never again. That traffic is horrible, and the crowds. People parked along 287, not just in the fields. We will definitely visit on one of the out of season weekends. Thanks for trying the Pecan Pie. My wife loves it. I’ll hit the peanut butter or red velvet.
Yeah Chris, I would go no where near 290 during their antique festival because it has to be a one-way 2 lane nightmare.😩 Yeah that pie....I still have dreams about that pie.😂
I make out to Roundtop around once a month, one of my favorite day trips from Houston. Glad to see your channel is increasing its viewership, keep up with the good work.
Royer’s also has a cafe in Round Top, good home cookin’. Royer’s is famous worldwide for their pies, no kidding, they ship just about anywhere because it is a “thing” to send a piece of Texas in the form of a Royer’s pie & many recipients reorder!
Thank you amigo! I’m from small town TX. Never been to Round Top. But I reckon the wife and I will head that way for a road trip and get some of that pecan pie!
Hi there! I just found your channel by chance. I am a fellow Houstonian and a new subscriber. Loved the video! Can’t wait to keep watching and see where else you visit.
One way to keep it small and quaint is to sell all their real estate for millions. I had to confirm what you were saying and YES all the homes are over 1 million. Some had less than 1 acre. Insane!!
About the real estate situation, from what I gather, is that if and when a house comes on the market, it is sold before it's listed as a lucrative Air B&B. Same for the little town of nearby Burton.
You should come up to Taylor Texas! We’re off of hwy 79, about 40min outside of Austin. There’s been a lot of recent small businesses opening in our downtown area. The old Taylor high school has also been turned into a mixed use development, with some shops, a few bars and restaurants, including a small food trailer area. It’s a lot of fun!!
Just so it is clear; the building in the center of the Round Top town square is not an inn or hotel, it is one of five justice precinct courthouses which still exist in Fayette County; the others being in Fayetteville, Schulenburg, Flatonia, and Muldoon. Round Top was settled in the 1840s and 1850s by numerous German immigrants, which displaced the former English residents. Really enjoyed your talk with Jimmy Dick. 😊
First thing I thought was pump house. Y'all know what I'm talking about? And better watch out for waspies. As you said, "Do not stick your hand up in the dark places!"
😎What it do? Nice content. Ranell e Historian. That was a civil war era mortar. nicethatyou ran into James Dick he composed a piece called "Texas Bluebonnet Nocturne”, it’s a nice subtle piece. You should check it out.
An inn was a full service stop Including care of animals including feed and stabling for the night, usually between towns Kind of like a rest stop now Hotels did not provide full service( They didnt provide for care of your animals at night)and were in cities and towns Thats the difference between the 2

Best episode I’ve seen on your channel. Really fun and interesting!!
That thousand seat concert hall is exquisite. Absolutely unique, nothing like it!
Thaaank you!
Wonderful video! Royers has Pie Haven with delicious pies, but they also have a restaurant on the square. Sunday’s fried chicken is really good!

Thanks for the feedback!
Antiquing is one of my favorite things to do. I would definitely check this area out to see what they have. ❤

Yeah, that pie was an EXPERIENCE and welcome my small small town community. 😎

We had some pie from there, delicious. Nice quaint town.
Yeah, I shall return!
What a beautiful building. So ornate.
It's even more beautiful in person. You should check it out one day. They host concert's pretty often for a great prices.
I have been to the antique show loved it. Parking wasn’t too bad

Yes, the prices are ridiculous.
About the real estate situation, from what I gather, is that if and when a house comes on the market, it is sold before it's listed as a lucrative Air B&B.
Same for the little town of nearby Burton.
That makes sense and unfortunate.

Thanks for the great video! Round Top is on our list of places to visit! If only for pie and BBQ!

The smallest town in Texas? Clearly you’ve never been to Luckenbach. 😅 You should totally go!
Smallest incorporated town I guess if you want to get technical. 😂
Lukenbach is unincorporated.
Have you been to Belleville and Industry?
ua-cam.com/video/lyauyuB6uac/v-deo.html
It is spelled Bellville
Love it wish I had time to watch it all, tried to subscribe but have too many subs already, so it wouldn't let me. Liked it anyway
Thank you Lisa, but the answer or solution is simple. You got to kick somebody off your subscriber roster to add me to your team. 😎
I'm sorry, is it "Pie Haven" or "Pie Heaven"?
Haven, you'll see I caught it later in the video. 😂
i live in a Texas town way smaller than Round Top.
And which Town is that, because Round Top's population is only 76 to 90.
That’s just a stop sign. I only count it as a street light if it has yellow, and green. 😂
Well dang. 😭😂😭😂
The "coffee maker" is a small short cannon
LOL thanks!😂
Been in Texas forever. The smallest town in Texas is Lukenbach.
Lukenbach is a unincorporated community, while Round Top is a corporated Town.
Richest Town in TX. Super Rich Houstonians have homes here.
Yeah, heard some lawyers and oil guys own land out there
I was gonna say that too! I'm just like, urban sprawl. House prices sounds like some in the Woodlands
McLendon-Chisholm Tx is way smaller
I could be wrong but I think the tiny house looks like a chicken coop
😂😂
First thing I thought was pump house. Y'all know what I'm talking about? And better watch out for waspies. As you said, "Do not stick your hand up in the dark places!"
It’s NOT THE SMALLEST town in Texas. Not at all ! But other than that - great video.
LOL smallest "incorporated town", but they doesn't sound as cool in the title.
It's HAVEN (long A sound), not Heaven.
Aaahh, after I posted this, you caught it. It was drivin' me crazy. I love your exploration of small towns though!
LOL thanks for watching. 😂
It says Haven not Heaven
I know. I mentioned it in the video.😉
I’m not sure what you mean by “smallest”, but it’s not the smallest in population.
It's the smallest Texas town that's has the biggest antique festival and concert hall in Texas.
Omg..I used to go to Lagrange om business all the time! Been there it's small but not a sure it's the smallest.
Oh yeah, I plan on covering Lagrange in the future!

I appreciate it. Mr. Dick invited me back for a performance in July to check out of him playing Beethoven.
