Just a few things to mention : - Unlike SM64 and SMG to my knowledge, your coin score is saved upon getting your highest coin score, no need to collect a shine for it to be saved ; - You can exit area on the airstrip instead of collecting the shine, it will also not reset your coin counter ; - For Pianta Village, it's also possible to get 999 coins in episode 3 only if you did not get the blue coin from the pianta in fire ; - There's currently no known way to collect the disappearing coin in Gelato Beach in the 3DAS version ; - For Bianco Hills, I recently found a way to improve the length of the despawn timer of the coins that are difficult to collect such as the ones of the pokey at the top of the mini windmill, I can link a video if you're interested.
Wow, I didn't even know about that alternate method to getting that one pillar of coins in Ricco Harbor! I practiced infinite wall kicks for a couple days before I was able to get high enough. I also didn't think to ground pound while collecting the coins out of bounds in Gelato Beach to save myself the several extra trips. I did attempt to spawn the cabana coins out of a dive flip to potentially give myself enough time to backflip in and collect that one trouble coin before it despawned, but you sadly can't trigger it that way. Unless someone discovers a way to somehow spawn the coins from the floor of the cabana instead of underneath it, that coin will remain uncollectable

Noki Bay's challenge is definitely the most rewarding of the bunch, considering the amount of practice needed to smuggle in all 4 coins at the start. This wasn't mentioned in the video, but for Pianta Village and Sirena Beach's 999 coin grind, they took over *4 hours each* to finish... Getting max scores there ends up being a war of attrition rather than just skill!
One small piece of feedback is that the audio balancing is a bit off in this video vs the galaxy one; the shine get cutscenes are somewhat uncomfortably more loud than your speaking voice. otherwise these are 2 very good videos and im eager to watch what else youve got!

Simply pay one coin to the Pianta that throws you through the window, collect the Shine, and all the coins will reset without resetting your coin total. -Piantas will only give you 1-ups after being rescued if they've already given you a blue coin. You can also do this in Episode 3 and is actually easier because the Pianta in question walks back and forth.
Even if the game only keeps track of coin high scores per level, I think it would be interesting to see the max coin counts for every mission. Sure, you can get 999 coins in Pinna Park episode 2, but like what would max coins be like in the other missions where you don't have infinitely respawning golden bullet bills

I would love to see you do 3D World next for the Max Coins. Alternatively you could go for answering which levels can you max out the Highscores on in 3D World since they put a focus on it with the multiplayer crown system. I would say maximum highscores but I could see that being way too hard (with stuff like the time counting towards points, bounce combos convoluting the answer) to Maximize and tackle all at once/way too long for one video. I also love the new editing style so keep up the good work.
On the contrary, I would LOVE to see a minimum score challenge for 3D World for each level. CeeMCraftGaming already made his own video of it for the Wii U version, but there were a LOT of point skips he missed that I discovered on my own play through of the Switch version. A low score challenge for completing the New Super Mario Bros. games would also be fun, though I've only done one for NSMBU.
I had looked into max score awhile ago. But I anticipate it being really boring tbh. Because the optimal strat is probably to just use 4 Players with the Lucky Bell ground pounding for the entire duration of the timer to spam coins for points. This would allow you to max out the score in any level without a timer.
This is really cool. I know the game doesn't track per stage but I think it would be cool to look into per stage max coin. I feel that could be useful to know for theory crafting potential improvements. So you know which ones are contenders. I'm currently streaming a casual 100% while hunting down all the hidden 1-UPs (there are some sneaky ones), I might look into max coin per mission.

In regards to Noki Max coins I had an idea but it turned out to not work. In episode 1 the Mole in the Waterfall Cork throws bombs. If you spray these with water they turn blue and drop a coin when thrown. But once again Nintendo hates fun and there is seemingly a cap of 20 coins that can be obtained using this method.

The game actually saves your coin high score for the airstrip, you can just never see it. So the max there is 2.
