I have a pair of purple dumbo mosaic guppies and the female gave birth about a month ago to only 10 fry. So far the fry have developed some black patterns on their tails, some on their dorsal fins as well, and the males seem to have developed the iridescence on their backs. I'm also seeing some yellow in a couple of their tails too. Interesting to see what will happen with that. I'm also wondering if the female is ready to give birth soon, she's been extra feisty with the male lately. We'll see.

Hello. I do not treat the water. The pH balance of water in Hawaii is in the 7 to 8 range. Cholrine concentrations ranging from 0.25 to 0.5 milligrams per liter (ppm) of chlorine can be found throughout the water system.
I had some platinum purple mosiac that I ordered from Thailand before the one female drop 80 fry's and all fry's survived

From my experience, live plants like water lilies also help keep the water clear.

where did you buy the dumbo mosaic purple guppies? from the island or the main land. I looked on ebay, there are some sellers but not sure which. I wanted ones with the same colors that yours are. great vids, thank you so much, very informative and entertaining, keep it up.. cheers

Really nice guppy. But, I don't have this strain since they weren't breeding true.

how do you control the over flow of water in heavy rain? does the guppis jump from the water? please reply.take care.
Good Question. I prefer not to drill holes near the top of the tubs. Therefore, when it rains hard, I scoop water out of the tubs to prevent overflowing. I have to stand in the rain with an umbrella. lol. Take care.

The Dark coloured male that you showed is called A Blue diamond guppy. Which is usually found in the platinum purple mosaic fries... Some of the fries also become red tailed and dragon tailed... Overall the purple mosaic is an unstable strain.. but im able to make it 90% stable..

Good luck with your new guppies. Don't breed true means 100% of their babies won't look like their parents. If you have guppies that breed true..... all of the babies will mature and look like thier parents. Take care.
