Making A Detail Carving Tool

- I got these three rods of HSS at the flea market, leftovers from a long gone industry. I could not find others for sale, not even online, so I decided to make the most out of them by sharpening at both ends, so I can get more tool profiles this way.
This required a handle that allows for easy flip of the tool, so I'm making one in this video. It also allows for the tool length to be adjusted, so the chisels can be long like those used on the lathe or short, for engraving. I also added a brass end cap so I can tap it with a hammer when engraving metal. - Навчання та стиль
And that my friends is how you make and present a perfect video. No jibber jabber, no BS, no horrible music and didn’t put himself up front for attention or air time, just produce a beautiful piece of art that is functional. Well done, thank you sir, i want to see more. Am now a sub.
exactly!! such a rare thing these days!
You are very impressive.I realize that having the right tools is key to all you do but you make it it look easy. You are the bomb.
Real therapy watching you at work in your small workshop
Holy heck, every second of this was a pleasure to watch. Thank you!
Squared away, cleans and polishes the areas that will be hidden inside and no one will ever see... I love that! True craftsman at heart.
I really look up to y'know the amount of skill you have to be extremely cool, I find being able to do something like make a 2$ rusty old knife to something brand new admirable. Keep up the good work
Glad you're back. That wood indeed looks gorgeous.
That sound as the HSS was removed from the slot was awesome!
Amazing how it takes these big intense tools to make something that looks so elegant and polished. Awesome work
Another great video. I like both the craftsmanship with which you build and the way you edit your videos. Please do more.
Why is it so satisfying to
watch these
the only videos i watch without skipping, are yours. so fun to watch and you mange to keep it short and enjoyable.
This is the best design for turning chisels on UA-cam! Well done. I’m going to save your videos on a DVD for future reference. Thanks for your tutelage. Bill from MN.
I totally forgot that I subscribed to this channel
Wow! What an informative video without a word being spoken. Thank you!!! I like the tool you made. Looks like it does really fine detail work very well.
Holy crap!! That is a beautiful/ very useful and versatile tool !!! Great build!
its a pleasure watching you work - i like the way you freehand the lathe - i never saw anyone turn metal same as wood is turned - it sure works faster for the parts that dont need to be totally precise - great job
i guess Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost my login password. I love any tips you can give me
@Keenan Cristian instablaster =)
@Caiden Cristiano I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@@keenancristian7981 there has to be a recovery procedure - like every other media - this is what happens in this detached - automated technology
@Caiden Cristiano it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!

Glad you found a project to use the bog oak on :-)
I told you I'm gonna have a hard time using them because I tend to keep the nice materials forever waiting for the right project for them.
Beautiful and highly functional - I love it! Great job, sir! 👍🏼

Really enjoyed that ☺️
That was fun to watch!
Very good job bro 👍👍👍
That handle is bootyful!
It's almost too beautiful for it's intended purpose.
Hope to see more uploads, great videos
amazing job man
It's not a grub screw. It's a set screw. Grub screws are used to hold parts on a shaft from the front end, not the side. Sorry, it's a pet peeve, I have to trot it around the block once a year,LOL. Some more nice work. I like your videos, thank you for sharing.
very nice , like it a lot
Nice!
I can’t understand 95% of what are you doing but it’s still so satisfying to watch...
Perfecto trabajo compañero. Saludos.

It's Amazing!!
BORSEC apa minerala carbogazoasa, super tare instrumete
Welcome back "the small workshop", where have you been all that time???
I'd love to see more brass turned on the wood lathe. I bought a bar, intending to make a fid, but never had the nerve to mount it. Nobody on YT is doing any brass turning.
Very nice. Thank you.
that is beautiful
my eventual field has nothing to do with chisels but i want one of those so bad, it looks beautiful ;-;
Muita habilidade e conhecimentos técnicos, és um verdadeiro artista, muito bom.
wow excellent
man, that's not art anymore. That is poetry in motion! A big like and subscribed, as well. what is that magic lathe are you working with ?
Приятные вещи творишь!
Благодарю за видео.
Best thanks for sharing
El estaño está bien para muchas aplicaciones. Personalmente he hecho muchas cosas con estaño. Sabes? Invertí en un soplete de GAS MAP, para reemplazar el estaño y me fue muy bien! Quizás puedas probarlo
Esti din Romania s-a vazut o sticla de apa pe care scria Borsec apă minerală plată
didn't know you can turn brass on a wooden lathe, good to know
I not even like so much, but I give thumbs up to see more
Felicitări !!!
Cool
Wow this video is fantastic. Can you give me a bit more info on the chisels you used and the rough RPM while turning your brass?
it was a standard chinese hss scraper, made for woodturning / 1500 rpm.
Wow sangat indah..
Kreatif sekali Mr.
Salam Kreatif
:rusty old knife ....
:the small work shop I’m about to start this mans whole career
Edit the comment budd
NICE work!!!
Love the handle... much better than my simplistic approach
Hope you don't mind I'll take it as an inspiration for my own handle making challenges
i.e. next time I make another set of turning tools - I'll make a similar handle ;).
Make a video.
@@kevinorr6880 will do :)
👨💻Wish i had kept some of that silver hard steel used in spring factory $ Forget name of it 🤷♂️but it's used alot in tools lathes & cutting machines
Even spring steel harden red hot & oil dipped retempered 250d was pretty good i have cut upto 4 mm spring steel tension springs on a kick press
hardly ever sharpened it 13 times a year was dam hard 👍
emOJI emojI÷*#(#£;-(&-😴😑😧🐤
tired of these 8 year old youtube comment section
Did you just...HAND TURN on a metal lathe?? What kind of tool are you using for that, if I may ask? That was so cool!
Just a cheap chinese hss scraper made for woodturning.
Need more videos!
Очень красиво!!
This UA-cam channel is the reason we’re gonna take over area 51
2am uploads letz go
lol you must be on the other side of the world. NZ?
silviu ai cumparat alama din bucuresti de pe undeva sau online ? ( like la video apropo )
Este luata din targ, din valea cascadelor. O am de cativa ani prin atelier, sunt mai strangator asa spre "hoarder".
Voll geil! :)
I use the tool to build the tool!
Ooo a video
I hope that file has a handle on it. Read the horror stories of the rat -tail being driven into the palm of the hand when the file accidentally catches the chuck.
What chuck are you using on your wood lathe?
👌
