I would recommend using a Frixion pen to mark lines on your fabric instead of a permanent marker. That permanent marker lines Eleanor made are not going to come off of the cutting mat. With a Frixion pen, the lines disappear when touched with a hot iron. Also, those black lines do not disappear when the blocks are cut. They may show through any white or light colored fabric blocks after being pressed.

Love this pattern! I am going to make a quilt using reds & pinks, (maybe Valentine-type fat quarter bundle) for my daughter-in-law.
