  • In this video I show you how I install metal gates and fences to concrete and block walls. This was part of another video but a lot of the feedback asked me to post this section of the video because often we cannot show the installs.

Deja vu. I think this was the exact video from before minus the fabrication portion.

We use barrels too really nice hinge we like to install them on site well that is, we electrostatic paint on site but we flip on the hinge on the top an weld the top piece to the post so it cant be lifted off

Hi, I like the gate and the wall post you have used in this video. Would you be able to share a link to the product you have used in the video - gate and both side wallvposts? Thanks

Is there another way to secure a metal post to a block wall? The guys that installed my gate used lag screws, but owing to the heavy gate, the post came apart from the wall. The gate was wrought iron and about 6 ft wide. Any suggestions ??

Jimbo love your work bro. Awesome videos. Is it ideal to leave gate latch sticking out?? I usually flip them to avoid someone hitting themselves.

In the design stage, how much gap do you calculate for with that style hinge?

Hey Jimbo. Amazing work, thank you for the video. May I ask, how did you paint that gate and railing? The finish is stunning. Thanks.

I am more worried about the latch catching a body part coming thru the opening should have thought about that differently

why put the hinged side with all the weight of the gate on the plywood wall of the home instead of putting all the weight and hinge side on the more structurally stronger concrete block side?

Some silicone on the back of that tube to keep water rotting the ply

Curious, why did you put the flange/tab off to the side vs up/down ? Not to say either is right or wrong.

Easier to mount is what I’m thinking

Easier to drill when you install. If you do it up and down, you can't drill in straight (some of the time) because the pickets get in the way.

I believe they are not quite so visible this way from the outside of the gate. As well as matching the height since the posts on the gate don't need tabs making the gate and the fence aesthetically different in appearance. Consequently Jimbo did do this correctly. Ya know - I'm pretty sure I've seen this video before, probably when he posted the fabrication of the gate & fence. When I saw this posted this morning I had a moment of deja vu!

Me personally, i think that he wanted to acheve that impression that when you are standing directly in front of the gate or rail from the street point of view, you can't see how it is mounted (kinda of floating impression). Greetings from Serbia🇷🇸

    Are the tradesmen Mexican?

@Berzoprojects2022 …. Yes … they are. Why do you ask?
Majority of construction workers … especially masonry workers are Mexican in California ….. and probably in Texas as well….
I’m born and raised in NorCal (Bay Area) …. puro Mexicanos all throughout.
