This scene became my touchstone for what I wanted in a relationship. I'd never had or observed a couple who could be so free and whacky together. I knew when I found someone who would play WITH me if I was dancing around the house and fell on my back with puppets in my hands, I had a serious contender for "forever". This movie and both it's stars have a special place the favorites of my life.
This made a deep impression on me, when I first watched this film on Channel 4 one early 90's Sunday evening. It's one of the loveliest things I've ever seen.
Whenever people talk about a film that makes them cry the most it’s usually an American film , I tell them , you’ve not cried until you’ve seen Truly, Madly, Deeply 😢😢😢
I believe the screen play was written with her specifically in mind as a showcase for her talents. This scene doesn’t feel ‘acted’ at all, it’s so natural and real.
I know there are a lot of us out there that would have given anything to have "that one person" come back to us...even if it were just for one day. This film is on point for expressing the gut wrenching pain that she experienced in losing "Jamey"😞❤🙏
Loneliness is the coat you wear A deep shade of blue is always there The sun ain't gonna shine anymore The moon ain't gonna rise in the sky Tears are always clouding your eyes When you're without love Baby Emptiness is the place you're in Nothing to lose, but no more to win The sun ain't gonna shine anymore The moon ain't gonna rise in the sky Tears are always clouding your eyes When you're without love Lonely Without you Baby Oh, I need you I can't go on The sun ain't gonna shine anymore The moon ain't gonna rise in the sky Tears are always clouding your eyes The sun ain't gonna shine anymore When you're without love ooooooooooo The sun ain't gonna shine anymore The sun ain't gonna shine anymore Not anymore The sun ain't gonna shine anymore Bring it back, baby The sun ain't gonna shine anymore Oh, baby
Alan Rickman is the most handsome, charming & lovely man I have ever seen, the more I see him the more I get obsessed He was really precious,a gem of a person,he had something in him that's why people still miss him & grieve his death,I keep obsessing over the same stuff and don't know how to deal with the pain😢God loved him so dearly that's why he had taken the Angel😇away from us & this selfish world🌎May his soul rest in eternal peace 😢it's too hard & painful to say this😭
I read an article on the Internet that said Alan was “no Patrick Swayze dreamboat” in this movie (comparison to Ghost). Funny, so many women thought Alan was gorgeous in this movie. Why do people have to criticize his looks for? I thought he was so beautiful.
@@stacyparenteau4390I always felt that this film and Ghost perfectly shows the difference between US and British films. British films go for realism and realistic looking actors. and US films go for conventionally beautiful actors and larger than life, unrealistic events.
I think you missed my point. I think Alan was a beautiful man; he just looks disheveled in this movie. A lot of people think Alan was handsome- just look at these comments.
I adore this video, it’s so charming and adorable and omg. I really truly madly deeply passionately remarkably deliciously juicily live this clip and Alan Rickman
Found this recently in a compilation of Alan Rickman singing - been stuck in my head ever since. Now I found the video, eight years after Alan's death. RIP, you amazing man. Haven't seen this movie yet, but plan to very soon.
Ohh, they are so heartbreakingly, and yet deliciously and juicily and wonderful together! This scenario, where an artistic and very profound woman has found her heart and life frozen in despair, in endless tears, and therefore her lover returns not in her dreams but in fact - with the purpose of teaching her how to see beyond him to the possibility of life and love in his absence - it is so extraordinary, so contradictory, yet so inspiring. When she picks up the two puppets who are AR and herself, I just melt into tears and smiles. This scene is multi-layered with delight and ecstasy, and playfulness, and triumph over sadness, yet with an air of "ominous finitude". It is also the distillation of self-sacrificing love on AR's part. He is deployed to teach a woman the most important lesson in her life, yet one she does not really want to learn because of the sacredness of the memory of her dead soulmate. In one sense she is correct - nothing, no man, no woman, no goddess herself could step into her heart in place of AR. Yet this absolute devotion has produced absolute loss and despair for her. Brilliant dilemma - worthy of Dante herself. What is the meaning of absolute mutual love when we are but finite mortals? It can only end in tragedy......or maybe not. At the end of their duet, they dive to hide under the piano like two children caught red-handed in excessive delight. Perfect, perfect and perfect! Love, andrea
+Natálie Maříková I went to Chordie and found the words, and chords. I will be playing this. The energy in this performance is so wonderful. The other people who sing it do not sing with joy, and they are singing with joy about the bittersweet love and how it will be when they are separated. The song with Andre` and Sara Brightman have the same joy and bitter sweetness.
Clouds are the enduring symbol. My favorite scene is when Stevenson and Rickman watch clouds drift by and then sing THE SUN AIN'T GONNA SHINE ANYMORE..."the tears are always clouding your eyes..." Jamie gave her the cloud mobile. And the early scene with Nina and Mark, above and between them are clouds symbolizing Jamie. At the end, Nina looks out her window, sees the clouds drifting past. She shuts the window, puts Jamie's cello back in its case, turns off the light and goes to meet Mark.
Watched this film many times and you’re so right. Also when she’s walking with Maura the pregnant Chilean lady they are practising her English and Maura gets stuck on the word ‘nuves’ so Nina tells her what it is and completes the sentence ‘Yes we can see the clouds in the sky’

Alan’s acting talents sadly missed
Everyone who kissed Alan Rickman can be sooo happy. He is sooooo hot and I miss him so much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
I always say this is the most joyous 3 minutes of film EVER! You can't help but smile from ear to ear
Very few couples share beautiful relationships like this, and even fewer realize what gem they are in possession of until all is lost.

God yes I cried buckets when I saw it
I start crying before the scene when he comes back, as I know it’s coming up. This is 100% the year-jerkiest film ever.
So Severus can sing and play the cello very beautiful
Hats off to Alan Rickmansworth, but let’s not forget how amazing Juliet Stevenson’s performance is in this film. One of my favourite films, ever. 😢

Thank God we have these wonderful works to remember Alan Rickmans talents, voice, reactions and smiles!😇
