Great advice for long throws. My problem is with the putt. Anything I throw over 20 ft has so much off axis torque that it makes my head spin and I go into convulsions and begin to vomit. On a serious note, I have tried changing grips, I have tried even tried the anhyzer prep like Nate Doss does and the only way I can throw a 30 foot putt with any degree of power and without wobble is to throw at a hyzer angle. Flies great but no margin for error. I think you have great technique and I would love to see your take on this issue. From what I see is very common problem.

Big Maristuff I’d love to see a video on fixing that, I’m in the exact same spot. McBeth throws those laser lines from 80 somehow, I need that

It's the same exact problem. Play catch with a frisbee for a while. Learn to throw it without turning over. It's a great teacher.

Dude thank you! I hated the, " throw with a hyzer to fix it" kind of answers

I don’t get it. If I throw an understable disc RHBH, it’s going to turn right even WITHOUT off axis torque right? I’m down with doing some field work but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be looking for.

Follow these instructions to eat your OATs.

Hey Steve, can I call you steve? I feel like I've watched enough of your videos that I'd consider you a friend. First off love the videos, keep that disc golf content comin! Second, I'd love to see a series on how to throw and what you should be feeling during the throw as in the X-step, footwork, hip rotation, shoulders, and the firing order of all these things.

Steve is fine, and it is not my father's name, so I am okay with it. I feel as though your commenting has brought us closer together as well. I'd absolutely do a series! I'll have to come up with a little lesson plan. (I should consult some "locals" about this as well.)

For RHBH, what direction the understable disc go with off axis torque? My discs go way far to the right? With hyzer it keeps going left and dips down.

Any drills or exercises you’d suggest to help eliminate OAT in a RHFH?

Thanks for calling it off axis torque and not saying "oat." I hate when people say that. I disagree with your explaination of off axis torque with the sidearm though, because I believe wrist angle is how you manipulate your shot angle. Your arm should generally be coming through on the same line everytime, and you use your wrist to adjust the angle. The wobble comes from not adding enough 'spin' to the disc.

I agree, some of the OAT comes from not adding enough rotational velocity to the disc. However, If you are using your wrist to control the angle of the disc, then you have a greater chance of developing more OAT. Just like with the backhand, one should use the entire arm to control the angle. To throw a high hyzer, start low to high. To throw a low line straight shot. Keep your arm on a level plane the whole time. If one uses their wrist to control the angle then the disc will not follow the line of the arm and it will be off axis with the perpendicular axis running through the disc.

I disagree. I never had an issue with off axis torque because I played ultimate before disc golf. I keep my wrist at roughly the same angle every shot and change the angle of my elbow for hyzers flex shots. Also, i don't believe you should change your wrist angle. Just like with backhands, when doing a hyzer or anhyzer, you should change your body angle to change the shot, not your wrist angle.

Wrong. By your logic forehand hyzer flips are off axis. I take an overstable disc (ape) and put a hyzer angle in my wrist and rip it straight and it never wobbles or anything as long as i hold the disc in the same hyzer angle through the throw

    • @b-radg916

While the most common reason for forehand wobble probably is not enough spin, but I’ve seen in video that as my elbow comes forward, it changes the angle of my forearm and hand and causes the back of the disc to drop dramatically. That is right before the disc comes out, so it’s wobbling immediately, regardless of spin. I haven’t figured out how to correct this yet, but at least I know where I need work.
