Very good advice! My clinicals are coming up and I'm like HOW LONG?! oof! I'm paying them to work there for free for 40 hours a week as if its class. Plus i need to pay my bills. 😓
Ughh u just made me so nervous because there is so much to consider- I’m still undecided if I wanna go ahead sign up for this major or not but I seem to be loving Anatomy & Physiology =Bio., that’s making me wanna stay on medical field…I’m sure I’m gonna be coming back for more Questions that’s if I’m gonna pick the major of Med. Tech. Anyway, thank you for explaining all that !! Btw I subscribed to your channel 😊
Hey Dominique!!! I'm new to your channel and i love your vlog and information your providing!!! You really are a huge help somthank you for all the information you're providing😊!!! I do have 2 questions for you if you dont mind. Btw my end goal is to work in a laboratory . Im currently working at a research clinic and im a lab tech. I have no credentials for science or MLT. I have the opportunity to be an assistant coordinator. Do u think i should take it or stay in lab for experience and resume? Also what do you think about a biotech major for my goal in working as a lab technician and eventually a technologist??? If you dont have time to answer your still awesome!!
It sounds like a great opportunity! Will you be an assistant coordinator at the research clinic? I personally would take the role and gain new experience - it might help you in the future. You can always return back to the lab. A biotech major is great if you plan to have a career in research/industry labs. It might not qualify you to work in hospital labs for routine patient testing depending on your state’s regulations.
Hi Dominique, I just watched your video right now and I am impressed by the information you presented. I want to ask about the type of questions that might be asked if one is preparing for an interview for a MLT program. Thank you
Glad the info was helpful! They mainly want to know if you will be a good fit for the program. You can most likely expect questions centered around why you want to enter the field, why you chose to apply to the specific school, your study habits and your future plans. 😃
Hello Dominique. Ive been watching a couple of your videos. You have metioned that you have a speciality is in Microbiology. I myself hold a BS with a major in Micro as well. My question is since you dont have a bachelor in MLS/CLS.. did you have any trouble during the applicstion process with the ASCP? I know in some part of the application youre asked to provide your major. Does my question makes sense?
After I graduated, I completed formal training to get ASCP certified. The fastest route would be formal education through a NAACLS accredited program near you.
@@domilarae I feel like those fans when their famous character says hi to them lol. Thank you much for your anwer. @JoseRicardoRamirezFernandez haha I definitely understand! It will be worth it. The training and certification will open many doors in the future! Feel free to email me laranique04@gmail.com
Maam, what will you consider... An MLS or Haematology technologist(ascpi usually)... Honestly, I love haematology. Well, why's that is because I think that it will narrow my field after my bachelors and I love working with oncologists. So what’s the best advice you can give me(with finances and scope kept in mind🙄)?
Do what makes you happy! If you want to only work in hematology, go for it. It won’t be much of a difference in pay if you go heme vs mls. But if you want to keep other options open in the future to work in other depts, then go the generalist mls route.
Hi! I am currently a cls student at csudh! I'm planning on applying for the cls internship this fall but in case they reject me, what are my other options? can I apply to cal state la? do I have to apply to the university or JUST the program? I'm a little confused! I just dont want to wait a year to start my clinical internship in case I get rejected 😭 thank you!
Hi Esmeralda! It might be better to reach out to your program director or advisor for guidance. My program handled our clinical sites, so I’m not too familiar with having to apply for internships.
Hey, quick question is it possible to obtain a master's degree in MLS with a bachelor's degree in animal science? I am a soon to be graduate with my bachelor's in animal science, I am signing up for the MLT cert program next fall and I need to know if having the cert and animal science degree will allow me to get my master's. I am hoping I won't have to have another bachelor's degree.... HELP! LOL 🙃😂 thank you!
You sure can! Definitely consider applying to MS in MLS programs or post-bacc in mls programs next fall as well. There are grad programs that will prepare you for the mls cert and might take around the same amount of time as the MLT associates. You have options!
Do you know anyone who received an associates in applied science Medical Laboratory Technician 100% online and got a job? Do you feel it’s best to go to the school and take seated classes is best
Good morning ma’am, I have completed my MBBS and MD Pathology from India. I have 8 yrs experience in India as a Pathologist.Ma’am , though I wish to sit for USMLE exams , but that will take some time. Ma’am is there any way I can continue working in a clinical Lab? Any certification I require for getting a job in a Laboratory in US ?I am looking for a job in Dallas Texas. Please help me out.
It would be best to contact someone that has gone through the process of working in another country and then coming to work in the US. From my understanding, you would be taking the ASCPi exam for international candidates
Hai, iam applied for master of Labortary medicine in university of Tasmania, Australia. Iam a zoology graduate. is it hard to study laboratary science for students from science background? Pls replay...
It is not hard if you have a good understanding of human physiology and anatomy. There's alot of disease states to learn as well as methodologies of testing patient samples

Sure, it just depends on if you’ve taken the required classes for the specific program you are applying to.

I’m not familiar with 100% online associate programs. If there are required clinical rotations then I don’t see it being an issue to get a job

what about people who studied out of usa 🇺🇸 bachelor of medical laboratory science from India
There are opportunities to become certified and work in the US. The most common route is ASCPi examination
