Wow. Whether it’s going to work or not, Wilson is taking steps revolutionizing basketballs. Props to you Wilson. I can’t wait to test out this bad boy if it’s ever come out to public. Keep it up with your research and development Wilson, I believe in you.
Its a giant wiffle ball... Guarantee 100% that the difference in shots differ from people who have alot of spin on the ball when they shoot to someone who doesn't.
@@PurpleHelix doesn't work that way in sports, athletes trained for years with one standard, you don't suddenly move the goal post by switching it to a completely different ball
@@AnimefreakHQ no it won’t plus I’m pretty sure people would steal the design and use it for themselves to manufacture free basketballs which would practically kill Wilson’s revenue
It’s designed to be baffled and balanced aerodynamically. During the normal course of a game it shouldn’t experience any sort of noticeable flow through the ball itself that one would feel while shooting the ‘ball.’
I suspect what's Wilson's strategy: They'll cover the holes in "Gen 2" in order to avoid the dirt accumulation inside and some problems related to air flows through the ball when it's shot.
So, I hear that the cost of the Airless Basketball is $2500!!! My question to Wilson is, how much does it cost to make? I love the concept of the ball and I believe this technology will open the door to several "new" ideas...... Thank you Wilson for thinking outside the "ball", oh I mean box!!
This would be great... no longer needed to ever worry about pumping air or getting the right consistency for your basketball ever again. Hope the materials are durable enough for outdoor bball tho
I have a crazy story and I hope to find someone who has the same problem. I love playing basketball however in 5th grade we figured out I’m allergic to this rubber mix that is found in slides, flip flops, and basketballs! My hands start to crack and bleed. This would be game changer for me and I could actually play.
maybe this can help you. Many people are worrying about stones if they play in the street and I think I have the solution. The NBA or Wilson logo is like a click button that can be removed so that the stones come out and that can be put back and taking advantage of the technology it has, they could make a click button logo that can only be removed manually so that people when this ball comes out it I can play calmly
Good question. I suspect it won’t, as it is uniformly covered with evenly spaced, evenly sized holes. Wiffle balls have long slits as well as more solid areas to catch the air and alter the trajectory/slow them down as they travel.
Another problem I don't hear about and a big one in my opinion is the sound or lack thereof. Idon't like it because the sound of the dribble plays a Big part and without that if you don't have eyes on your taking away a very useful benifit that these new balls can't have. If it ain't broke don't fix it. They're trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist just to make money. This is only good for people to use indoors
the biggest question i have is: how does it sound, bouncing? like fieldhockey plastic ball? 🥺 but having something like this in Football might be really interesting!, increasing the throwdistance & aerodynamics with a mesh ball 🤔
Looks awesome only thing that makes me sad is that it will probably cost like $300 each 😔 I hope they bring the costs down and these balls become the norm.. a ball that is not affected by punctures or water..
What problem does this solve? Is air limited? The only use case is to prevent balls from deflating but that does not happen at all when the ball is made well.
Just looking at this, players' fingers are gonna snag on the hexes, and it's going to screw up shooting. I think you should try this with a soccer ball instead. Bet you could get some crazy wiffleball type whip on it.
100% aerodynamics are different to a regular ball. Anyways, what issue or gap in the market is this supposed to address? What's the benefit of this compared to a regular ball?
new ball, so what, all it is is 3d printed, what new revolutionary thing does it bring to basketball, nothing, in fact they emphasised how it bounces and performs exactly like a regular basketball, meaning they pioneered a new ball to make it the same performance as pre-existing balls
I can see kids playing with this new bell in backyards and it seems like a better option than the old school Spaulding infusion basketball with the pump inside of it back in the day that was a good ball but as far as this new ball ever actually making it in the NBA i don’t see it happening ever the players association would never allow it pro’s like to doctor the basketballs and do all kinds of tricks to them before a game

the durability is gonna be weird
probably pr stunt
@@sonnyyu386 Can you elaborate?
Nobody asked for this though 😅
This raises the question of the relationship to air resistance when throwing
Supposedly it feels and plays the same as a regular basketball but i won't believe that until i try it

I bet it won't ever actually release.

This is hitting me with some GTA 6 vibes
If Michelin can produce airless tires for cars I think that Wilson will have no problem mass producing 3d printed basketballs😂

Good job Wilson. I can see a whole new line of possibilities in sports.
I want one asap, hope it actually goes on sale❤
Its $2500 according to the video that lead me here.
I feel that it will still take a long time to be launched as the official ball of the NBA
Ya it will never happen lol.
I don’t even care if it’s the official NBA ball I just want one for myself 😂
With it being airless with holes. do the air going through it make it faster when you make shots 🏀

Love this keep up the good work , Wilson
I've often thought about this for a pillow - it would always stay cool

Please release records of internal tests. We will be able to see in its bounce, don't avoid it.!
Here you can see it bounce 😉

also just like golf balls, the holes can make a rotating throw go in a curve, will change the nature of the game

why not play with gloves?

It was in the All - Star Weekend
Wilson please make footballs, soccer balls, tennis balls, every thing.
That looks dope!
please show an unedited dribbling and shooting video using this ball.
What about the weight?? Won’t it feel totally different to shoot and handle?
maybe the material they use is heavier or the ball itself has a thicker layer than the usual baskeball
They say it's the same weight 🤷♂️
When I inbounds the length of the court ,will it wiffle??

While we're reinventing the wheel, lets just make a basketless basket.
Inflatable basket to table the turns
🔥
Glorious model O of basketballs 💀
Pebble will get inside of it 😂
I want one
My only concern is the grip on that thing
Tom Hanks will like it as well
The style looks very similar to a Chinese ivory craft ball😀
I'd like to try it and have one
would it not be affected by the air differently if it has holes in it?
i wonder if it has grip
so if u miss the rim. it’s beyond airball?
Well air still goes in there when you bounce 😂😂😂
Awesome!
What problem does this solve? Is air limited? The only use case is to prevent balls from deflating but that does not happen at all when the ball is made well.
ball will always deflate over time regardless which is why you need a pump.
I wonder if it's heavy enough
This probably can’t be used outdoors imagine something getting inside the ball. That would probably need to still cover it with something.
i’ve went to an nba event where they had the ball and it dribbles pretty good but has bad grip and is heavy
I want this.

HOW ARE FANS SUPPOSED TO GET AUTOGRAPHS?!?!????
You know, there is still air in the basketball, it just isn't pressurized air.
Still never seen this thing dribbled.
A twelve year old wrote this script.
"A basketball made of powder and lasers."
Solving a problem that was never there in the first place.
"It's a basquet. - No. It's a ball".
a ball that bounces without air? so like... a rubber ball?

Great job making the background black with the black ball. Can't see shit
Now if you miss with that ball while shooting it, it becomes an Air Ball.
Looks like I won't be able to spin the ball on the tip of my finger anymore. Look at those holes 🧐

STL?
Where’s the grip
A basketball that has no air, tons of gaps, less materials, for double the price
As it goes with early development prototypes
They won't release for a cheap price if it doesn't breakdown, they have to think about money and continued profit
Just color it orange 🍊
