Once Blameitonjorge talked about this, this lost movie was bound to be found not long after!
There's a joke that if Blameitonjorge makes a video on lost media, it's not lost anymore
@@tomaszkuplowski9258 pretty much lmao
fr
Mark Hamill, Hayden Christensen and James Earl Jones all being in this means that this is the only movie in history to have Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in the same movie together.
Actually, rise of Skywalker has all three. Mark/Luke appears as a force ghost, Hayden/Anakin as a voice while Rey is summoning the will to get up, and JEJ/Vader appears as one of the voices in Kylo’s head during the opening scene
And don’t forget mace Windu
Technically Revenge Of The Sith (Luke as a newborn, Anakin for most of the film and Vader at the end)
It’s just so weird that they had four actors from Star Wars In this film
@@HelghastStalker lmao why?
An animated movie by NASA funded by the Taiwanese government starring Mark Hamill, Sam Jackson, and James Earl Jones... I wouldn't believe this existed unless I knew the full story about it
This is one of the best stories of lost media, love it when creators are open and willing to share things that many would otherwise keep hidden in the past. I think Doc is smart enough realizing that the story of this movie's development itself may hold more inherent value than the final less than realized product. I wonder what I would do if I got an email asking about an embarrassing project I forgot about from 10 years ago...
"The man had to work with literal Nazis, but this movie? This movie broke him."
This only makes me curious to know just how bad the production was because WOW.
@@SuperCosmicMutantSquid I feel like that line might be playing it up a little. I imagine what he's referring to is how much of a trainwreck it was and how embarrassing it was for NASA. 100% someone lost their job over this, and I imagine many others hurt their careers for getting involved in it. Scientists embarrassed, PR staff burying their heads in the sand, leadership being investigated for these kinds of questionable decisions. I think the issue on NASA's end is more "what space coke were you snorting to think that this was a good idea?" more so than the filmmaking process being a mess.
I’d love to see a director’s cut someday! Even if it doesn’t look perfect, I’d like to see what the original vision would have been.
i was NOT expecting an orbit here oh god
dal segno same 😭😭
Oh as soon as you said "until now", I scrambled over to the Lost Media Wiki and jumped off of my chair in joy! An amazing find!
An absolute POWERHOUSE of nearly EVERY area of expertise all amounting to a $12m flop lost to time is so wild to me. How the HELL did no one see how this was shaping up on Digimax's end???
The worst part is they most likely did. It's the sunken cost fallacy. People in charge were probably getting dragged along and pumping more and more money into it, hoping that this would help turn something out. After that clearly wasn't happening, $12 mil was the point when enough was enough and the plug was pulled.
Wow. The animation looks very rough and unfinished, marginally better than “Food Fight.” The story behind it was nuts, though!
I only knew of this bizzare thing from Jorge's video. It's really funny to see it just now becoming publicly available.
Conspiracy Theorists: The government is so mega super powerful it can fake The Moon Landing and The Shape of the Earth and INDOCTRINATE US into believing it!
Real Life: The government couldn't get a movie with Samuel L Jackson and Chris Pine into multiple theaters.
lol. Even more, the government in the 60's was so powerful enough that it could fake the moon landing, but half a century later could only make something that looks like it was banged out in an afternoon. Stuff like this is basically proof that the moon landing couldn't have been faked.
From the crazy production, to the star-studded voice cast, to the wasted potential, and the uncanny animation, This movie is giving me serious Delgo vibes.
Amazing how this got found! Lost films being found is so rare so I'm always happy to see them get found!
The same can also be said for old cartoons as well (ruff and reddy for example)
Bit surprised the US copyright office doesn't have this in their catalog; maybe it's registered under an alternate title?
Omg this is so crazy !! I remember seeing this film when I was like 7 , when I lived in Louisville at some science camp !! Who knew it was lost for some time..
Having recently gone to the Kentucky Science Center, I doubt too many actually watched it. The theatre I saw was a small room you walk through to get from one attraction to the next without any chairs. There are so many things for the kids to do that they’d probably just go to the water center and building blocks. 😂 It’s a much smaller place than it sounds.
Our school went on a field trip to a movie theatre way back, and they had us watch this movie. I was a big Star Wars fan at the time, so it was crazy a movie I’d never heard about had all these actors (they even had little cards with the characters that they gave out afterwards). The guy who made it was there too. My teachers hyped him up as a director of an episode of the Big Bang theory. I was all really absurd, and he later gave us a presentation at our school about AI or something. This unlocked a lot of memories
As a Yes fan, it is mind-boggling to me that Jon Anderson had a part in this. I haven't heard much of his solo career but I'll definitely have to listen to that song. Just the idea that it's associated with a once-list film is cool.
It makes sense to me exclusively because Yes also did the end credits for Homeworld because they thought it was a cool idea for a game.
Not very surprising to me. Like the voice actors, he would have been involved so early in the process that, bonkers as the pitch sounded, wouldn't have looked that bad. He couldn't have know that it would look this bad and be this much of a mess.
So you have never been exposed to Olias of Sunhillow? This sounds right up his street.
I’ve always loved NASA and space exploration, it really makes me wish this movie turned out good in the end. Maybe Doc and Dan will release a director’s cut one day. We can only hope.
Interesting story, never tought that NASA would be interested in a sci-fi.
But the first CGI sci-fi was Cassiopeia, also the first fully CG animated movie.
Disney sabotaged to make the producers postpone the release so Toy Story would be called the first full CG animated movie (although the models were created physically and then scanned).
Also, Dan St. Pierre was involved in Legends of Oz??
...ah, the director. Everytime I hear about this movie is more about the shenanigans and scams from the producers haheaheauea
11:31 to 11:45 gave off "people were having hits put on their heads and the government was covering it up" vibe
*Holy. Shit.* Simply mindblowing - my mind is blown
Duke Nukem Forever 2001 got leaked recently, so everything is possible
6:20 PERFECT picture
Hmmm, a lacrosse style game in the first act that comes back in the final battle?
I can't believe NASA ripped off Bionicle: The Mask of Light
2:44 Big Brian Checklist got me
If I were a ringtone, I'd be nine beeps in an SOS pattern
That was wild. I hope we see the full film someday. #ReleasetheDocCut
The alien designs look pretty good!
Really glad to at least finally know what all happened here. Thanks to the guys who were asked about it and were willing to talk.
What high charisma, high intelligence and low wisdom (at least when it comes to movies) build looks like
It was found? That is amazing, honestly.
This dude literally cam eto my school in Middle School. I got a folder from this movie and everything. Wish I had more info back then...
Neil Armstrong was in Transformers 3! Also, this is as good as a BlameItOnJorge video!
Edit: it was Buzz Aldrin.
Buzz Aldrin was in Transformers 3
Not only does the film sound like a horrifying cross breed between NASA, Star Trek and Scientology (for some reason) I cannot believe that many talented people worked on this and end up looking like you know…THAT, i’m not even sure if you could call that a film. This was really bizarre when I first found out about it and it’s still bizarre to this day, and you know what else I might actually know a few people that went to see this at the Kentucky science center because the town I grew up in and the public school (the one I didn’t go to) apparently went to see this according to a newspaper article now I could ask around about who saw this found but I don’t want to because number one it was 11 years ago and they would never remember it number two I would look like a fucking weirdo so this is just a really bizarre thing for me but it’s fascinating to learn about. Now that I think about it because NASA was involved taxpayer money went into this movie just think about that for a second
I mean, 3DCG movies with talented people that end up looking like shit is fairly common (Foodfight, Rapsittie Kids)
I mean, if it was Scientology it would explain the celebrity involvement.
I'm not surprised by the talent at all. It's kind of self-perpetuating. They got on some great talent as basically a charity offer, and more people got involved because of that. The dialogue would have been (and clearly was) recorded long before anyone would have seen how bad it would end up. Whereas Rapsittie looks like casting was the result of a court order over personal legal troubles, this was a film ostensibly from NASA. Who wouldn't want to get behind it? Who wouldn't want to offer their time for such a public service project?
The only thing here that strikes me as particularly odd is that the Kentucky Space Centre played it constantly for 6 months. Was it a slow news day? Did they have to put up a fortune to get it and they were trying to make that back? I can see it being screened. I can see it maybe playing for a few weeks because of every favour being called in. But 6 months?
7:12 DUDE don't so this to me, now there is also a lost Yes song, noooooo this video really has some turns and twists and I am only in the middle of it!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this channel. You know as a history preservationist you are doing so much good for the world already I'm sure, but I just wanted to say thank you again :)
This channel is gonna be a huge thing I think will help save a lot of media history that future generations will be able to appreciate. Even if it is ridiculous Shrek animations and sci fi with 1/2 less fi, as it sounds like this movie is.
Cant wait to watch this movie now myself haha!
Nothing is worse than Foodfight. Nothing.
Suggestion: Lost artifacts. Interpret how you will but it could be either human artifacts, or perhaps fossils.
Wow, simply wow
This was a wild search for an equally strange movie
I need to listen to more music by yes. they already have so many songs I'm in love with and will always love.
YES! Just when I was looking for new lost media videos, this one arrives.
Awesome! Release the audio from both versions of the movie and lets crowd-source a better version!
The best topic so far and the best, it's found and I might even see it, it's only 45 min so not much of a waste enought to watch it during a lunch break or something, and good to know what was the song by Jon Anderson in the end, but man what a story if the short movie is not that good, but I guess the important thing is not the destiny, but the journey and what journey it was, great video too!
I legit just found your channel like three days ago and have been binge watching all your videos!! Keep up the good work!
Jon Anderson is the singer for Yes. I don't know who John Roy Anderson is.
That sounds absolutely bonkers. And it looks like it was made in Poser. Who thought any of this was a good idea? Why wasn't the plug pulled even sooner once people started seeing just how sideways it was going? I don't blame NASA for burning the records and pretending it never happened. This is embarrassing. Grats on that podcast for tracking it down though. This movie might not be worth much, but the story is.
i remember this movie! i thought it was a false memory but i saw this at the science center! i don't remember much from it other than the bad guy scared me and i closed my eyes when he'd come on screen
bruh i see quantum quest movie being available for buy or rent on youtube when i first clicked this video
What a weird economic arrangement too. A publicly funded U.S. government agency contracting someone to produce an animated movie where all the animation is further contracted out to a studio being bankrolled by the taiwanese state.
Been waiting for this!
Can't seem to find anywhere to buy/stream the movie outside USA and no one has ripped it yet as far as I can find, sigh. Hope someone does before it becomes lost again.
And like that, the movie is on my playing next list. XD
I just saw a thumbnail for this movie as it's just gone free to watch on youtube now. I'd never heard of it but looked up a trailer to see if it would be worth watching and the trailer was terrible. I didn't even believe it was the real trailer because the sound was so bad. This explains it. Good to know the sound in the actual movie is better. But yeah, it's free to watch on youtube, for a limited time probably.
Plot twist: This movie is actually Dr. Harry Kloor's drug trip. It would explain everything.
thank you for this!
Taiwan: This film is gonna put us on the map, it's going to do _sooo_ well
*a decade later*
Huh...
this was a fun ride with so many twists and turns
Just like findimg the toilets at wetherspoons
I'm not surprised they are trying to hide this movie, the production's ambition was so over the top it made the actual moon landing was tame in comparison
Great video, and this seems like an interesting movie mostly due to the concepts of the characters and the universe, which look great in my book.
I was excited to know that the movie was finally found and released only to find out that this movie is exclusive to USA and not even available on Google Play to my country. Frigging geniuses. **facepalm**
Anyway, thanks again for the video which allowed me to find this gem and I hope this movie gets to be released to the rest of the world someday.
this was insane, great video!!
Speed + homeless girl = sore deek
I would probably see the full movie so badly, but it's quite the search!
This is just _a-ma-zi-ng_ holy balls..
Oh I scrolled past this and assumed that was Bibble from Barbie Fairytopia
Bibbles has been seein that Dr over in LA, I see
Between this and your Foodfight! video, it would interesting to see a video on Bunyan & Babe, a movie that was in production since at least 2004, and was originally envisioned as a live-action/animation hybrid, before being produced and released as a...very unimpressive-looking fully animated film in 2017.
I feel kinda bad for the taiwanese animators. The animation itself is not that bad and they certainly showed some promise.
Yeah. Sadly hobbies are banned in chinese countries so it is probably the only animation they ever made. Certainly the only time they saw a real computer
The character designs look like xavier renegade angel lmao
Huygen sounds like a word Jerry Lewis would shout.
Great video, maybe my favorite!
Cumpacker 😂 thats genius
Cool for ya to make a video on this case🥰
"The records were destroyed, which was strange for an organization like NASA"
Bro, they literally wiped the original moon landing footage by accident, which you mentioned on this channel! This isn't strange at all!
Great video otherwise
Hayden Christensen and Mark Hamill voice acting together is probably the best father/son bonding in existance
Star Wars fans will get this.
You'd think with the money NASA has they could've used that to actually get a studio with the know how knowledge to make a animated movie that doesn't actually look like Dog💩.
Not sure if anyone else has seen this but I think movie is available on UA-cam Movies as well.
Idk why they didn’t just ask Disney or Dreamworld or an actual competent animation studio.
Especially funny since director/art director Dan St. Pierre previously worked at both Disney and Dreamworks.
I think the idea was that Gotham Group, who managed Dr. Kloor at the time, was trying to build an animation pipeline in Asia where they could make a bunch of smaller budget animated films that wouldn’t directly compete with the bigger animation studios but could still turn a profit and wouldn’t take as long to produce. Quantum Quest seems to have been their test run and it obviously didn’t go very well.
It's right there on the recommendations on the side of this video. Of course, you gotta pay for it.
help why that beginning clip scare me it was so sudden coming towards me
At least the animation ain't food fight ugly at least.
Neil Adams was actually also in Mass Effect 3.
so many big names
I surprised it wasn't shown at the Great lakes science center because that place is home to the John Glenn visitor center
The truth is that the movie was a documentary of what was actually found on Jupiter’s moon, but the public couldn’t handle what was found....
I'm both excited and disappointed in this movie.
a very strange feeling
When it was motioned that the directors and such are interested in fixing the movie, I'm interested in what there gonna do with it.
I feel like I've seen that at my uncle's house
Hey can you do the Lost pilots part 2
Dang, they got Luke and two Anakins?
😂
Have you considered covering Cyberworld 3D, IMAX's 2000 3D CGI film?
Did professor Frink name the cassini hoygen?
Ayyyy
Quantum Quest: Rewritten
You mean Jon Anderson? No H Needed, No Roy Necessary
The only mention in this list. I was thinking this wasn't real by the way he said he couldn't find the song. Never saw his named said or spelt that way.
Awesome reference
Why does the green alien look like a bratz dollM
can you make a lost Oprah Winfrey episodes
The guy was a genius in math and science. Art and storytelling are entirely different beasts. It pisses me off. This was like hiring Stephen King to lead fundamental quantum research and being shocked when the result is a fucking mess. It shows how little respect art receives.
6:20 YES! YES! YES! XDDD
Yo is anyone else a lil down bad for that alien 💀
Nahhhhhhhh 💀
Damn, Dr Kloor is the biggest of brains 🧠😳
Lmao I watched this in Singapore
Virgin: NASA never went to the moon!
CHAD: NASA Made Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey
It looks pretty bad 😂 but this whole thing was so cool to watch
I would fucking love to see a remake of this using the original voice actors....both versions if possible, and the full cuts rather than the 45min IMAX cuts.
Hi
