I make English muffins a lot and the dough is supposed to be quite shaggy. That is what makes the nooks and crannies. It is more of a batter. One of my cookbooks even says to shape them with wet hands rather than using a cutter. Yours look perfect 👩🍳
I made your sandwich bread without a breadmaker. You just put the ingridients into the mixer, knead for a few minutes. Divide the dough into three pieces and let it rise in a greased loafpan for 30 min. Preheat the oven with a bowl of water to 425°F. Bake for 5 min at 425°F, reduce the heat to 350°F and bake for 40 min.
I always save up a whole bunch of videos from this channel and then I just zone out and get to watch them and relax. I run a full business. I have very little time to myself anymore. I adore this channel.
Those English muffins were impressive! Thanks for sharing. Idk why, but I like watching you make meals. You are a natural. I’ve been here since Evey was a baby, so I’ve seen you consistently hone this life skill. Having said that, my cooking skills have not grown at all. Just something I don’t enjoy, but I enjoy watching others who do😊
I've found you either enjoy cleaning or cooking, and while I'd say I'm more of the former, cooking is a necessary part of life and we enjoy good food so I might as well try to enjoy it as well!
I just love when one of your videos pops up! You seem to just have so much peace and organization through your life. I know you work very hard. They’re very encouraging and I thank you. 💕Nancy
My SIL used to send me my nephew's clothes when he outgrew them When my son turned around 6 I noticed she was sending lots of tops but hardly any pants. She told me the pants all had torn knees so my supply dried up. Now people buy them that way.
3 teenagers= I'm off the hook for breakfast AND lunch! 😆 No one gets up at the same time, no one eats the same things, and not everyone even eats breakfast. It used to drive me crazy because i used to have breakfast ready for them, and i used to make everyone the same thing for lunch, but i guess this works, too.
We've ventured into that territory already with kids getting older and wanting to sleep in as well as a toddler who's almost always up first, but I do TRY to get them to all sit together in the morning so we can do our devotional time. Luckily we're all used to eating breakfast a little later so it works out most of the time
I like the way you took the rind off your watermelon. It looks much easier than how I've been doing it. Thanks for the tip! And I love seeing what you've found at the thrift stores. :) Re your ashtray, my grandmother came from Stoke-on-Trent. As for the english muffins, what can you do? lol. They did look delicious by the time you'd baked them.
You should be able to make the bread in the oven with no problem. Just use the bread machine to mix the dough and a first rise. I do this all the time because the recipe I have makes 1 loaf and 12 buns or 2 loaves. I actually prefer it this way. I bake at 350 until golden brown on top.
So excited to see your vlog today. I love watching you go about your day. Everything from the grocery haul to cleaning under the sofa was enjoyable. Have a blessed 4th, dear friend!🎆❤
Love how you are very frugal and smart. Videos like this will help large families, even when you utilize EBT, there are healthy options. Such options allow families to stretch their subsidized income. Have a blessed 4th. Hope to see you at the Cape this summer.
Regarding your English muffins: sometimes a recipe doesn't turn out as written and/or the way you think. But you need to be resilient and persevere, as you said. It's happened to me, and we still eat it! Once a recipe/dish disappointed me but still turned out very tasty, and my family asked me what is this recipe??? I said, Mom's Surprise! LOL!
You certainly can use the bread machine recipe in the oven or even divide it to make rolls. It’s very versatile. Do you still have your sour dough starter? I noticed you mostly make yeast breads now.
I do have it, but yes our sandwich bread I do yeast, the kids prefer the texture. Honestly yes I’ve gotten out of the habit of having my sourdough ready to use when I’m ready to bake, but I’m sure I’ll get back into it 💛
I have made English muffins a few times. What works best for me id to put the dough in the fridge for a few minutes to get cold before you roll it to cut. I also recommend using cornmeal to place on the bottom of the cookie sheet when rising the English muffins before cooking. Turning down the heat and cooking them for about 4 minutes on each side works great every time.
Restless Chipotle on Pinterest has an English Muffin bread recipe.. it is a gloopy dough just like how your dough turned out-- except it is made in a loaf pan.. They are delicious! 😊
Wow! I love those egg bites, I'd like to try them as a dinner side, just because Italian breakfast are all about sweet food, milk/capouccino/espresso with croissant, biscuits/jam/Nutella on toast ecc ecc. Do you have a more detailed recipe? ❤ EDIT I've seen the recipe in the description box, thanks ❤
I use Windex on sticky price labels, so perhaps Windex or clear vinegar sprayed on sticker on shirt, then washshirt and hang up to dry...so hot dryer doesnt set the glue.
Good morning! What a darling video, thank you!! I will be trying the egg bites and if I get a bit of extra time, the English muffins! It looks like fun...sort of, haha!! Have a great 4th and see you next week!! :)
I loved seeing the sticky dough, lol. OMGosh, that happens to me so many times and it ends up everywhere before I can get my hands clean. The end result is ugly but tasty as I'm sure your english muffins were. Gosh, the thrift haul was awesome. I love anything and everything nautical and you scored. Good video sweetie. Happy 4th to y'all. xoxTXDeb
Great thrift haul. Enjoy all of your videos. Also what color are the walls in your living room and kitchen. I like the slight contrast of the walls and trim. Also trim color. Thanks
You find such great things thrift shopping! Your bread looks great! And the muffins looked awesome! Lesson, I suppose would be to stick with things, don't give up. Happy Independence Day, Hilary and Dan and Kids! Enjoy the holiday🇺🇸
I love that both you and your husband are so frugal. I am too and love buying pre-loved items. However, my husband is so against buying used clothes and shoes for our kids. He grew up poor and worn a lot of hand-me-downs and stuff from yard sales and thrift stores. We’ve worked so hard especially him to get to where we are and still frugal. But he said when it comes to our kids, that’s where he’ll draw the line and want things brand new for them 😔 Kids outgrow their clothes so quickly and I hate paying for regular prices.
Everyone has their own preferences. Like you said, kids outgrow things so quickly and once they wear a new item once, it's used right? I have found such lovely high quality items secondhand!
@@OldWorldHome oh I have too. I think my husband associates thrifting for kids’ clothes as a reminder of financial struggles when he was a kid. He still remembers and talks about how embarrassed he was to show up at a classmate’s house to buy his old clothes at their yard sale. So when we had kids, he’s always put his foot down on this matter and I just let it go. We are frugal in other ways but not when it comes to our kids’ clothes. Although I thrift for their winter coats bc they hardly wear those things except when we have snow. I don’t like paying $40+ on something that will only be worn once or twice since we don’t get a lot of snow where we live. I love thrifting like you do especially for household items.
Hilary, your particular dinner reminds me to thank you! I was so inspired by your honey soy chicken that I started making a slightly varied version and it's one of our favorites. ❤

I see the bread recipe in the description but could you please add the instructions with it? Or a video on just how you make the bread? I would really love to try it. Also I saw another commenter asking about how much yeast to put it as it’s not listed in the video?
Oops I forgot to mention the yeast, I'll add that. Basically you put the water, salt, butter, oil, and honey in the bread machine, top with the flour and wheat gluten, make a well and pour in the yeast, and press start :)

I agree I have made them Holding my breath thinking I don't know about them but they do turn to just fine.
Kudos to you for preserving with the English muffins. They looked delish!❤
Agree. I know recipes have you shape/pour the batter into greased rounds or open tuna fish cans. That makes sense.
Okay, good to know!!
That’s good to know. I was told the longer you let them ride the more nooks and crannies
I meant to add in my earlier comment, I use vintage ashtrays to hold water while painting an art project. The slots are perfect to hold a paintbrush.
