Did they loose what made them Terran? Why was there a necessity to build war ships against the inhabitants of Gaia, mostly the Esper? Did they pose a real big thread? Sorry for the year late reply. A couple of days ago, I was randomly getting back into the lore of this game. I played this and didn't really see the lifa tree as a threat, late game. However, it was part of it, and I wondered why it went crazy in disc 4. Remember Garland, and the invincible, and how he explained that Queen Brahne didn't necessarily move on, when she was blasted by Bahamut? The game says that crystals are at the very core of their planets. When the crystal(core) of the planet gets old, so does the planet eventually dying out, wiping out the inhabitants. Terra's Crystal just happened to be a planet, with an old and failing Crystal. Garland was created to captain the Terrans to inhabit another planet's crystal, so that Terra's planet wouldn't die out. What gets me, is how did Gaia grew around Terra, and how Terra got inside Gaia. Remember the Soulcage in the lifa tree? That thing explained, or pretty much foreshadowed future events in the game. What was going on was, every life form that died on Gaia were not necessarily returning to the planet's crystal. Their soul would be taken, so that Terrans, could be reborn on Gaia. The Lost souls turn out to be the mist you see on the overworld map, and because of that mishap when the party was on Terra, it released the mist, covering all of Gaia. Remember Garland had Zidane and Kuja made out to be Angel's of death, to carry out his plan to replace Gaian souls, with Terran souls, and most notably with deaths coming from numerous wars. Had this happened to every Gaian, then Terra would overtake Gaia, and be reborn as a new planet... The lifa tree was there to assist in the assimilation of Gaia. The roots you would see in disc 4, were to help it destroy Gaia, so that Terra would be reborn as a planet, but with Gaia's crystal. I never truly got the concept of Garland's motive until looking up why Queen Brahne was never able to move on. I thought it was just a thought, or random line from the game. What I don't get at the end of the game is, which of the crystals made it, because the rampage of the lifa tree stopped, and Gaia was saved from assimilation of terra. However, the Terrans were able to live on Gaia, with other Gaians, so maybe both Gaia and Terra converged into one planet? Maybe, since the crystal of Gaia was destroyed, Terra became the new crystal(core) for Gaia. They really didn't explain what happened after Necron dispersed. There is an article on reddit, explaining why the ending to FFIX is rather sad, and he went on to talk about Gaia and Terra and how Terra was supposed to assimilate Gaia anyway. @@Joe_334 Terra was not yet Ready to assimilate Gaia yet. Kuja forced Garland’s hand, and after realizing that Kuja didn’t just intend to destroy Terra, but all existence itself. Garland made a choice to sacrifice the Souls of Terra, so that Gaia my live. More than likely, Both Gaia and Terra’s crystals merged, but Terra is no more, it will only exist in Olivert as a memory. Perhaps that was for the best. With one world gone, it is only right the other to represent them as a successor. Kinda like how Vivi’s character dies but somehow was able to create cloned children of himself to carry on.
Though I know this is not the original track, the sound of it perfectly reflects the feeling I experienced hearing this for the first time upon arriving in this place - and the lingering memory of that moment, so many long, long years ago.
+Russell Jones Don't worry about that, I'll get these into the PC version no matter how hard it is! Hopefully it'll be a simple case of replacing the .ogg files, like with FFVII. We'll find out how they're sorting out audio for this game when it's out. But I managed to figure out how to mod the music in the FFIV steam release (in preparation for when I remaster that OST, so I can put it into the game), so hopefully I'm up for the challenge if it's more complicated than just replacing some files! I'll be setting up a site at some point this year with download links. 3 different types will be up - high quality MP3, lossless FLAC for the audiophiles out there who like the highest quality like I do, and finally files which can be put into the steam version of the games, along with instructions on how to get them in.
