Great vlog Kim! I always lengthen the front rise by about 1/2 inch but I am thinking maybe I need to do a full belly adjustment instead to deal with my post menopausal belly ! What is the difference between the two and when would you do one vs the other? Many thanks for this ❤️
Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying to make my grandson a well fitted pair of joggers. I tried making the rise bigger front and back but they still didn't fit perfectly. I wondered if it was possible just to adjust the back while still being able to line everything else up. I'm going to try hinging the adjustment like you showed at the end of your video only lengthing instead of shortening. Thanks again. X
I made the Allegos (the older version) from LN and after several muslins got them to fit except they are tight in the knee when I sit or raise my leg. I feel like I’m going to split the knees out. Thanks for all you do!
Thank you Kim! I am learning so much and feel so much more confidant! I really appreciate all of the time you are putting into this workshop. I cannot wait to get my pants finished. I am gonna do a side zip, then on the next pair try to do a fly like Karina at Lifting Pins and needles did. I have sewn one fly front before, and didn't find it too bad, just need to figure out how to draft the fly pieces.
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I didn't know how to do this. When I made a pair of pans the back rise was to short. So, when I sat down the back rise would go to low. Happy. Sewing🌼🌼🌼
I hinged the back rise which did the trick for the pants to hang wrinkle free and comfortable. Problem being: I'm experiencing a pulling or drawing of fabric across the front upper thigh when walking. The knee placement measures correctly from the waist height. It is like a bit too much fabric in the skirting area? Pant leg and crotch looks & feels very comfortable when standing but just draws uncomfortably across upper thigh. Any way to resolve this issue? Thank you for all the time and energy you put forth in all your tutorials/videos.
Here is what I would try- add just a little ease to the upper hip/thigh but just in the front piece. It could be the front rise also needs work, but if they look and feel good in the crotch, I am thinking maybe it’s just a fullness on the top of your thigh.
My front crotch length is 11 inches and my back is 17 inches. The slash and spread method for the back turns out wonky because most of the time I have to lengthen it as much as 2 inches. The. I have to shorten the front too.
Kim love your video can you tell me about you tape holder did you make this top for it to help hold tape in could you give us a clue as to how you did this. Thank you very much
Thanks, Rosemary. Are you talking about my scotch tape dispenser? If so, it came with rolls of scotch tape at Costco. I had an old black one but gave that to hubby and kept the pretty gold one.
I have what is probably a dumb question and is obvious for everyone else - so, I apologize in advance. If you shorten or lengthen by slashing through the entire pattern piece, won’t that affect where the waistband ends up hitting? What if I only need to adjust the crotch but not the height of the waist?
That would be a different adjustment. I will be doing the crotch adjustments in my next video. These were to fix just the rise. And it is not a dumb question at all. Makes me think I should have mentioned that. ❤️
I found your video very useful. Thank you so much.
I love your calm demeanor and am looking forward to your next 2 videos.
I just love how you go into such great detail. God bless you. You make an awesome teacher. Your making my fear of making pants go away.
Thank you for your kind words. I love teaching things I am passionate about.
Thank you Kim. Always wondered how to fix the rise. xx

These are such great videos. Thank you so much. I am becoming so much more confident about making garments.

When you are ready for a fly, the Ginger Jeans have fantastic instructions.
@@dorothysdaughtersews Thank you!

That’s very common. I can’t buy ready to wear pants for that same reason. But my front rise is short
I must have lost some weight, now my pants are baggy at the back. Is there a way to fix them please? Tku. xx

Let’s do this

To save muslin fabric would I see the same rise issues if i made shorts instead of pants?
For just correcting the rise it will be fine, but some other adjustments originate from further down the leg.
