    Also i really recommend driving the most northern road from Dalvik to Sauðárkrókur, or the other way around, that road has some amazing views in my opinion. :) (make sure the roads are open when you go, that road is in pretty bad shape sometimes, especially in the spring time)
    Also Þingvallavatn is one of the most beautiful places i've seen here in Iceland :)
    In Sauðárkrók there is also a real sauna in the swimming hall (Sundlaug) and a VR historic viking battle thing :)
    One more thing, if you drive the only road to north from Sauðárkrók, after a couple of hundred meters you will see a sign on the right side that says "Grettislaug", there is a natural hot tub in a very cool place by the sea :)
    But also this road to Grettislaug can be in very bad condition in the spring, so i recommend having a 4x4 or just go there in the summer :D
    Im not a native Icelander so please feel free to correct me about anything, this is all my own experiences :)

    6th tip: forget the 5th tip of this video. A roadtrip with a rental car around Iceland is one of the greatest experiences anyone could have EVER! You can visit so many magical places and do it at your own pace and by your own criteria, and not visit overrated places (Blue Lagoon or Diamond beach) because mediocre influencers told you so.

    Colleague of mine went there a few years ago and complained about how expensive it was. I am going to be taking a cruise making four stops around the island, far more economical way to see the beautiful country.

    I’ve never driven a car in a different country because I assumed the cars would be made different as well as the laws of the road. Did you have any trouble renting a car or driving ?

    • @Luredreier
      @Luredreier 9 місяців тому +3

      Remember that laws around Europe are all more or less standardized, even among some non-EU members like Iceland.
      So you can drive here if you do your research beforehand.
      (Also, while you'd have to get a new license if you'd move here you're allowed to use your American license abroad as a tourist in Europe, just make sure that you research the differences first)
      Signs, no right turns on red, different speeds and blood alcohol limits (much stricter) etc.

      Driving in Iceland was so easy, renting was easy to do, and they drive on the same side of the road as here. I had saved a web page that had the meaning of the different road signs, so if I saw something weird, I would just that up. The only thing is that they are very strict with their speed limit, so that was something to make sure I was paying attention to. Depending on where you go, the roads can be very sketchy, like the west fjords don't have many finished roads, but honestly driving there, I felt so safe, even in those sketchy roads. Also, be on the lookout for sheep, they're everywhere and they'll walk onto the road and not care to just stand there 😂

    We were there for two weeks driving the ring road. For some reasons getting gas was a bit of a problem as you have to know the PIN number on your credit card, which is something a lot of us don't know in the US, since we're never asked for PIN number.

    • @Mind_yourB
      @Mind_yourB 6 місяців тому

      😑 what? Why wouldn’t you know your pin……………

      @@Mind_yourB When are you asked in the US to use your PIN for a CC? I'm not talking about your debit card PIN.

    • @datoda7470
      @datoda7470 27 днів тому

      I agree it’s a pain to gas up in Iceland. Newer gas pumps would accept credit cards without PIN, but the vast majority of the pumps do require PIN. In that case, you can either buy prepaid gas cards with your credit card or use your debit card.

    NEVER go on a "northern Light"-tour. We can predict the solar-flares that cause them. But not the visibility in the skies. And on top of that. The Tour will insult you by letting you experience it in VR.
