I commented below, I should probably add that I live in Reykjavík (immigrant- I’m British) I love watching tourist’s videos of visiting here and I really liked how honest you guys were.
Really great series guys. Looking forward to visiting Norway next! You must shoot a lot of footage so just wanted to let you know I appreciate how good the editing is to distill it all down to bite size chunks. Loving your work!
I'm going to Reykjavik in a few days, thanks for the tips! I'll have to try that café, and the cocktails looked amazing too. :) Definitely trying the hotdogs lol. I've never seen anyone put the toppings underneath the hotdog before, I thought I was the only one in the world to do that. :)
I was just there 2 months ago, do yourself a favor , rent a car, hot dog was amazing , I stayed at Icelandic Nordic, right near city and parking is free
The hotdogs are amazing. Be sure when they ask you, to order it 'with everything'! The taste is fantastic and I've even ordered the hotdogs here in the U. S. (from Iceland) along with ALL the same Icelandic 'fixings' that they use in the street kiosk. Pretty pricey doing that with the high shipping costs, but each one I eat takes me back right to the street kiosk in Reykjavik. And just so you know, I'm NOT talking about eating them in Iceland recently. That kiosk was there serving the hotdogs the two times I was in Iceland in 1973 and 1974, so it is definitely a longstanding well-known famous institution! Street food at its best!!!
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
No "Mather's On The Map" trip would be complete without sampling some local pastries 🍩 and coffee ☕!😂 Ketchup on a hotdog? 👎 Nope... mustard, relish and onions for me please! 👍😂 Lobster bisque soup! A definite 👍 Vanilla milkshake! 👍 LASTING IMPRESSION: The breathtaking waterfalls and landscape. LASTING MEMORY: Your heads up preview about the cold temperatures in Iceland while we were in Baja enjoying the warm sunshine. BEST LINE OF THE TRIP! When you said to Taylor: "No worries, whatever we missed this trip... will we see on our next visit"! 😱😂 Was the trip worth it? ABSOLUTELY IN MY OPINION!!!
Great video, thanks for sharing. We were in Iceland the beginning of May and watching this brought back some great memories......yes those hot dogs were awesome.....we were adventurous enough to try the fermented shark and it was horrible...💥......LOL......but hey, another experience. If you are in for upscale dining, try Sushi Social and a Michelin star restaurant called Dill. 👏🏻👏🏻👍👍🇮🇸💥☀️
Vanilla raspberry croissant. Yes please. Looks like some cool things in rekyvic. I am with you on sweet potato fries. Regular is good but to starchy. Haha
What to do in Reykjavik?! visit a church, local food, being picked up by a grad student and then racing a grad student, vist the rainbow street... u know, the usual lololol
We're are headed their next week and plan to shoot a few videos. Hopefully all the walking around we'll keep from getting fat 😀 The food looks amazing, can't wait to try the hotdogs. Nice video guys, you've got a new sub
Fun vid! The “mayo” is actually a creamy type of relish. The sausage itself is predominantly lamb meat. And I will fight anyone who compares the Icelandic hot dog to your run-of-the-mill ballpark dog or disparages it without trying the “works”. 😄
Bottom line, people--Go to Iceland. It's amazing. There are so many different ways to enjoy it. We stayed at a boutique hotel near Reykjavik and rented a car instead of camping. My only advice is 3 days is NOT ENOUGH.
Sweet potato!! Lol. And way to beat that girl with a backpack on your back! We just left Iceland last week and you guys make us miss Reykjavik even more! Best city ever imo 😎❤️
@@MathersOnTheMap there are so many beautiful spots, but my TWO favorite parts were getting up super close to puffins at the Latrabjarg cliffs in the westfjords and the hike at the top of the steps at Skogafoss…straight out of Lord of the Rings! Did you guys do either of those??
@@jenniferpersinger4020 I hear ya! we did both but didn't see puffins at Latrabjarg (which you saw haha) unfortunately we were too early in the season!
FYI, Iceland gets its lobster from Nova Scotia Canada. Almost 60 of the world's lobster comes from Canada. Just saying. And you don't put ketchup on hotdogs. Lol. Great Iceland series.
Nahh both wrong, we fish our own “lobster” its actually langoustine, but we usually just call it lobster. And the traditional hotdog in Iceland has ketchup on it!
I just was there and I loved the Roasters and the cinnamon rolls. But the Hot Dogs were expensive (about 7€) and disgusting. Tasted like the 1€ Ikea Hot Dogs. 2/10 would not recommend. But if you are up for the walk you should go to the isbudin gardabæ
These hot dogs are NOT NOT the best. I would not get them again. I did like the French's Original Crispy French Fried Onions on the dog idea. But the best dog ...... Not at all. A crapy hot dog at the ball park is much better. So many better things to eat in Iceland.
Ew hell no I’m do not like a bunch of nasty shit leftover meat America has the worst hotdogs lol like the shit that goes into it is so gross Iceland is way better
When I was stationed in Iceland 97-99, the building across the street (with the red door) right after you mentioned you were getting a hotdog, used to be a Turkish Restaurant.
Went to Reykjavík earlier this year. Love the place. Love the people. Great country. Need to go back.
Agreed Iceland and its people are both amazing!

Haha gotta throw in a pastry or two. Iceland was a great trip, a journey for sure! Still plenty to see though so we gotta go back!
Oh man, when you came out of Seabaron you had Tommis in view behind you, one of the best burgers I have ever had

Another killer video friends!
❤️❤️ thank youu!
Love it! Funny thing is I went to many of the same places a month later in June - wearing shorts and a t-shirt!
Man that would have been nice!
Would love to visit but the cold and windy weather puts us off going sadly...
It’s sunny, in Iceland? That’s impossible!
Haha we got really good weather most of our trip!
It happens sometimes - once in a blue moon 😀
I recommend the basic bakery’s like Kornið, bakarameistarinn too their cinnamon buns with caramel sauce is really good
Good to know!! We will have to add it on our list when we head back!
We will be there in a month. Thanks for sharing your video. I did miss the name of the bakery you were ar
This made us soooooo hungry friends! 😍 We have always wanted to visit Iceland for the views but now we want to visit for the food!
Haha I’d argue the views are way better than the food! Fish and chips in Husavik though are top notch!
Sweet potatoes fried are the best.
Kevs fav too!! 🍟
They have really delicious lamb soup too

Also recommend the Vínarbrauð from Brauð & Co! So good!
I’m starting to believe everything from there is delicious!!!

Hi, great video. Did you need any cash in Iceland or did everyone take credit card?
Everyone takes card from what we recall!
next time put the camera into wash machine an would be the same effect
I don't think it works if it gets wet.
What date were you there? Seem pretty cold
Early May
