Metallica had long been my favourite band since I grew up with them. After I heard their version of this song, The Warning definitely took the throne away from them and made me realize that while I really liked Metallica, I didn't know what being a fan of a band meant in the slightest. I've seen them live twice, but never met them, don't know anything about their crew or their lives outside of the stage, and certainly didn't follow or support them very closely. In the year that I've discovered The Warning, I've seen them live three times, met them twice, met their parents and their manager, know the names of most of their crew, bought many merch items, gotten them to be played on a small local radio station and am proud to be part of the community surrounding and following them called The Warning Army. I support them on Patreon as well, which is not something I'd have ever considered that I'd be doing one day. I'd never watched a reaction video or really done any subscribing or liking of videos, and now here I am doing all of that and more. All that to say that TW are a very special group of people. They are incredible musicians and even better human beings, and they bring out the best in us and make us feel like a big family. I found them when I was going through a pretty tough time in my life and I am so glad and thankful that I did because it really helped me get through it.
100% agree. The same goes for me and many others. I can't pin-point why exactly, call it magic, call it charisma, but The Warning is something you WANT TO be a part of, and that is remarkable. They trascend music to be a light of hope in the darkness of the world today.
TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale and Pau join in with their angelic harmonies... it is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 PS: that Explorer that Dany is playing was given to her by Lzzy Hale of Halestorm... Lzzy was "paying it forward" because she was given a guitar early in her career, too... Lzzy had it customized for Dany based on Dany's guitar tech's info... Lzzy presented it to Dany during one of TW's concerts between songs when Dany was waiting for her guitar tech to bring her another guitar for the next song... Lzzy appeared with this one and told Dany to play it loud and play it hard! 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

The girls rearranged the song from Rock to Pop to accomodate for Alessia Cara's voice (she sent her vocals from Canada to Mexico), then re-arranged back to rock, recorded, mixed and produced all in a single week to meet Metallica's deadline. This is track #1 on Metallica's anniversary Blacklist album.
I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Alessia very sweetly puts you to bed, then Dany rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, and the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one.

Fast forward to 2021 and the 30th anniversary of Metallica's Black album. They asked 53 artists to do covers from that album and make it their own. The Warning and Alessia Cara did just that. The Warning is the best pure rock n roll guitar band to come along since the heyday of the classic guitar bands of the late 60's and early 70's. They put on a better show with a bigger, beefier sound than Cream, The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, etc.
It's exciting to see you enthusiastic about our favorite band, with their musical pieces, but what excites me the most is knowing that you still have many more to discover. And not only because TW does not make bad songs, but you will certify that it will be almost impossible for you to create a "Top-10" leaving the others out of this list. The guitar Dany is playing is a gift from Izzy Hale from 6:28 Halestorm from last summer. It's a Gibson Explorer. The base guitar is a Specter and Ale's neen with them since she 13 and now she's 18. Dany just got a new yellow mustard guitar ny from the band Muse. They are working on their 4th Album.
Metallica told them to keep the lyrics but play the song backwards or upside down or whatever. Few bands have the guts to do anything other than a close cover, but The Warning is fearless. This version is on Metallica's _Blacklist_ album and has been played during Fox Sports broadcasts.
Given the opportunity to contribute to Metallica's Blacklist album with a week's notice, they re-arranged, recorded, mixed, and mastered this song, all while collaborating with a Canadian singer from Canada. Their version ended up opening Metallica's album. It took some cajones to rewrite and soften up the most well-known metal song of all time.
Soften perhaps only because of Cara 's voice in the album version because the instruments are already pretty harcore. In this life version there is nothing soft about it, just slower, until they rock out in the end.
Yup, they re-invented it completely. made it theirs. It's not a love one more than the other kind of thing - they're just two very different, very cool, things. Kind of like "return of the son of the descendent of the legend" kinda thing or something hehe. But both a great. These girls OWN this version!
Just have to say, in my opinion, you've heard their 'weaker' tracks so far. They have so many more rockers in the vault. Disciple from this Teatro show is a banger. And Revenant will show a very different side to them as well (Teatro of course).

We've heard the original version so many times in the past 30+ years it lost some of its luster for me. But what they did here is just amazing! These girls kick ass and skies the limit for them. I actually prefer this version of the prayer. In the original version it's a bit cliche, creepy child spooky or whatever, in the live version they go for an unexpected take of it and the better for it.
