Great video thank you for making it. I found the background music a bit too loud and distracting, just so you know for future videos - my suggestion would be to lower the background audio by half.
So I totally tried to cut my printable iron-on. On my circut maker3 without a mat and it ate it lol I don't know what I'm doing any advice? Please help!! 😩 I think it's because I didn't have the mat so I bought an im waiting for it in the mail 😅 I'm so new to this circut maker 3 an everything about it!!
Cool… I did not realize they colors were different types of mats… so I picked the pink one and my plan was to cut a bunch of vinyl :) I don’t know where the receipt is ahah
The Cricut Explore Air 2 and the Cricut Maker need the mat to be able to cut any material. It is an adhesive mat. The material is placed on the mat and then loaded into the machine. The machine can not cut the material without the mats. The Cricut Explore 3 and Cricut Maker 3 do not require mats if you're cutting with Cricut Smart Materials.
My question for this is, and it may be a stupid one, but i have a joy but it can also cut on the same type of mats but when placing the vinyl on the mat, do you take the paper off or leave it on? I’m a beginner and I am sooo confused 😢
Hi. This ia a very helpful information. Thanks for sharing. What mat size should I get for the circuit explore 3, I think using a mad it helps to save material, so I would like to try using a mat with my cricut explore 3 but I don't know what the right size is.
You can continue to reuse your mats! Depending on how often you craft, they will last you for a long time. By keeping them cleaning and placing the transparent sheet back on the mat after you're done crafting, they'll last you for a while!
I would use a standard grip mat or a newer light grip mat. If your mat is super sticky its okay, you will just want to make sure that you take it off the mat the right way so that it doesn't curl the paper.
HELP! I keep getting a error message when I hit MAKE IT to say the project is too big and won't let me proceed to the mat screens so that I can advise that I'm using a 24 in mat. I need to tell Cricut design space that I'm using a 24 in mat BEFORE I hit MAKE IT. How do I do that?
First, make sure you have the correct machine selected in the top right-hand corner. Then you'll need to make sure the dimensions do not exceed 11.5x23.5".
Yes! Flip your mat over and bend the mat back while you hold the material straight. You can see it in action here: ua-cam.com/video/rkRvCsA-3-w/v-deo.html
Usually, the green standard grip mat will work for craft foam but if it is losing its stickiness you can use a strong grip mat as well. I recommend using a brayer to help adhere it to the mat.
How often you use the mat will determine how long it will last. I always put the protective sheet over the mat when I am not using it. I also put it somewhere that doesn't have a lot of access to dust and dog hair!
This video was created before the Cricut Joy came out, so it doesn't include the Joy {the Joy has a LightGrip Mat, StandardGrip Mat, and a Card mat in different sizes since it's a smaller machine}. Otherwise, yes- this video is for Explore and Maker machines!
@@Craft-e-Corner thank you! I have a xrixut explore one but I'm wanting to get the martha stweart crixut air but don't want to get rid of the new green mats I just bought
I also got this, but now dont know if that will work with cricut. Could you help me out? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVX4CTV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You're probably already doing this, however, we'll list it as a troubleshooting option, make sure the mat is pressed up against the rollers equally. Also, double-check to see if there is any debris or anything causing it to get stuck or hung up when trying to roll into place.
This video was to help you decide which mat for your project. I am sorry that you were looking for how to use it in this video. It is pretty simple though. Lay your material down and load it into your machine.
Put in this video it says help me so much of this is I got my cricket for Christmas thank you
You are very welcome!

Thank you for the suggestion!
Thank you for posting this video, but l wish if you did it without music👍
Thank you for your feedback!! All of our newer videos are now made without music 💕 Hope that helps - thanks for watching!
Thank you for posting this . Video was very informative.
Glad it was helpful, Nadia! Thanks for watching! 💕
Excellent video! What makes the fabric mat unique? Is that one stronger than the strong mat or completely different?
The Fabric grip mat is a bit thicker and stronger than the other mats. It is designed specifically to keep fabric in place.

yup! I hope you'll be able to find it and get the correct mat. :)
Very helpful. Thank you!

What’s the purpose of using the mats? Is it simply for stability? I am a beginner.

The machine can not cut the material without the mats. The Cricut Explore 3 and Cricut Maker 3 do not require mats if you're cutting with Cricut Smart Materials.
The mats are sticky and hold your item (paper, fabric, whatever) in place

Thank you for the kind words. You can use a 12x12 mat or 12x24 cutting mat with the Explore 3.
This was a helpful video! What may would you use for faux leather? Would it be fabric mat?
I use the strong grip mat for faux leather :)
Thank you for posting this. This helped a bunch! Do you have the self healing mat? What is that mat used for?
The self healing mat would be used when cutting material yourself with a rotary cutter.
Do you need a new mat after each project? Or does it last for so many projects and then you need a new one?
You can continue to reuse your mats! Depending on how often you craft, they will last you for a long time. By keeping them cleaning and placing the transparent sheet back on the mat after you're done crafting, they'll last you for a while!
Regarding the strong, purple mat- what is the max thickness of balsa wood I can cut?
The thickest Balsa wood you can cut on your Cricut is 1/16"
I bought a Crucut Maker. It came with 2 cutting mats. Both came out of the box bent and warped. How do I make them flat again?
Hi. For foil cardstock which mat is suitable?
I would use a standard grip mat or a newer light grip mat. If your mat is super sticky its okay, you will just want to make sure that you take it off the mat the right way so that it doesn't curl the paper.

Is this one time use ? Standard mat
Nope. You can reuse the mat until it loses it's stickiness.
help my cardstock paper is coming out curled any tips?
Yes! Flip your mat over and bend the mat back while you hold the material straight. You can see it in action here: ua-cam.com/video/rkRvCsA-3-w/v-deo.html
Which would be best for craft foam sheets?
Usually, the green standard grip mat will work for craft foam but if it is losing its stickiness you can use a strong grip mat as well. I recommend using a brayer to help adhere it to the mat.
will these matts work in an older cricut machine?
Depends which older machine you are referencing. They will fit in the Cricut Expression.
Which mat worked best for vinyl on shoes??
The Standard Grip Mat works best for cutting vinyl.
How long do the mats last? Should they be stored a particular way so the stickiness lasts longer?
How often you use the mat will determine how long it will last. I always put the protective sheet over the mat when I am not using it. I also put it somewhere that doesn't have a lot of access to dust and dog hair!
Can you use all the mats with all the machines??

I didn't get the Bundle for Explore Air 2, would you know if my cricut will also have a mat with it?
I also got this, but now dont know if that will work with cricut. Could you help me out? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZVX4CTV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Amazon listing will not work with your machine. Your Air 2 will come with one 12x12" LightGrip cutting mat!
can you use sticker paper on the blue light grip mat?
Definitely!
Had a friend give me a 6in mat. Can I use it with my cricut maker
Unfortunately, that won't work! You'll need either a 12x24 or 12x12 mat. Hope that helps :)
So I can’t use the 6x12” mat with my cricut maker?
Unfortunately, no! The 6x12 was designed for the Joy.
Is green standard mat can be used to cut 300 gsm Card. please let me know
Yes I think you would use the standard grip mat for that.
Just starting this venture. I know not much this .
Welcome to the Cricut world! We have a lot of great tutorials to get you started!
What do you do if it wont load straight?
You're probably already doing this, however, we'll list it as a troubleshooting option, make sure the mat is pressed up against the rollers equally. Also, double-check to see if there is any debris or anything causing it to get stuck or hung up when trying to roll into place.
Why my maker torn. Mat edge all times can you help me thank
I cant work
I am sorry. I am not sure what it is you are asking. What material are you using and what is happening?
Can you use a mat that is not from cricut?
There are some off-brand mats available you can try! Be aware that it may void your warranty with Cricut if your machine is still under warranty. 😊
My mat is new and left a load of sticky glue on my matarial 😢
What type of material are you using and what color mat? I have never had that happen before.
Cutting mat does not come with maker 3
Music is distracting!
thanks for the tip
The annoying music is a distraction on a good video..No need for it.
Thank you for the suggestion.
The music its to high. I cant focus
I am sorry you feel that way
You did everything but show us how to use the mat…
Everything except how to use it.
This video was to help you decide which mat for your project. I am sorry that you were looking for how to use it in this video. It is pretty simple though. Lay your material down and load it into your machine.
