Great advice, which also transfers over to any instrument you want to learn. For example, for me, transcribing saxophone licks and solos. Or even recreating a song or remixing a song. Great post, I'm learning plenty with these great micro learning posts.
Deconstructing music, now that's a good tip. tho it's hard to really understand this without experience so think of it as like cooking, you would copy recipes and later you would see a common trend that for this dish it's these seasonings and for that dish you would see these seasonings. Then you can apply that knowledge to make a dish of your own
I want to know more about when and where to use Brass as supporting instruments. I know they use them often in big epic parts but how about when to use nice warm sounding softer brass as supporting instruments, if you could show us an example of using warm brass as supporting instruments that would be awesome.
I disagree. The best way to learn composition is actually composing in the genre you want to compose in. For someone with less or no experience, this is extremely difficult but not impossible. On top of acrually composing, the tips you give here are very good.
I come here with all due respect, but copying from my point of view and from what I tried didn't help me, copying by hand still... what really made me notice these aspects mentioned was the reduction, but that's just my opinion, thanks for the content always quality
