This is so cool! So you program the machine to stitch a specific pattern?
Hi Adam @PuppetNerd ! And yes, I use embroidery digitizing software to create the patterns. It's like vector graphic software but with more information so the machine can read it. Then the machine stitches whatever shape, direction or stitch type I've programmed. It would be great to eventually get your help sharing this technique with the puppet community - it's a game changer for hands and feet.
Hi there! I’ve been binging all your embroidery videos on UA-cam and Skillshare. I also have the husqvarna designer1 and it works on floppy disks. There’s not many videos about this machine that explains it clearly. Maybe you could make some vids about this machine? I’m trying to figure it all out. I’ve got the embroidery attachment, two sizes of hoops. Bought floppy’s and a floppy reader. Trying out hatch make my own designs digital, convert it to fit the floppy on the husqvarna complementary software. Got ir in the machine and it works! Yay! But…. Now I find that the software is more challenging then expected. I tried auto digitizing and it works, sort of. But the machine doesn’t tell me to stop and cut, the thread breaks often and the thread get sometimes stuck underneath with a bunch of thread I have to cut away and I’m not able to proceed my embroidery.
Long story short, I could use some help with the Viking 😅
I feel your pain on the Designer 1. I'll add some D1 videos to my very long to-do list but in the meantime, try these tips: get a thread stand! The D1 has a serious design flaw with it's thread path and an external thread stand fixes many of the problems you're having. I also like to use a bobbin cushion. Here's a cheap & easy way to make one at my blog here: ballyhoocreations.com/2022/04/bobbin-cushion-for-better-machine-embroidery-and-less-birdnesting/ And as for digitizing with Hatch - keep practicing! It takes some time to learn but you can get good at it.

I have friends that go to DragonCon in Atlanta but I've never been. Good to know they do puppets there. That might tempt me southward. 😁 Thanks for sharing!
