for some reason this felt like the most tense game in a while because at every turn you had opponents with the option to mess with you while others got strong
Hi Pete, Turn 1, I would suggest to put the 2 troops like you did. But then fortify the additional 5 at the same location. You can attack left & still leave 1 extra troop behind. By then fortifying to the other position, would guard all 3 fronts & no risk to fail. Just my opinion ofc! Cheers for the great video as always!
I thought the huge retaliation to yellow early on was not the move as it seemed to leave Pete weak, but I guess that's something you can do on these bigger boards where there can be multiple wars going on at once! As a less experienced player, yellow must have been thrown off why his move warranted such strong retaliation, so I hope he watched this video to learn how to make better moves!
Me seeing the vidéo miniature : Meh, what's interesting in risk strategy ? Me after the full video : Man, Risk is far more strategic than i though ! Well done, it's really smart ! I'm subscrib now !

You know what I find funny (I would bet my life someone said this before in comments but I missed it)? The fact that for the longest time you would never use sliders (neither would I lol) until I feel like more risk players started streaming and using sliders, then the epiphany hit you “wait I can actually save so many troops”. Ohhhhh Risk, sliders stink

Thank you for making this content and also the revenge is so fking enjoyable I love it. I don't play the game but it's fun to watch and see where my own thoughts on what's the bestpve differ.
@@TheKillPeteStrategy Just a question. If there's no fog with blizzards and someone is trapped with all their troops in a corner where an opposing cap is blocking them in, say they have 1.5× more than the cap in troops right beside it, is it a good idea to weak en the cam enough they can narrowly get the 100% and knock the other player down? Assuming you aren't in a position to immediately die.
Pete you make a comment at around 14:20 about how if people knew you going aggressive isn’t a good option. Is this standard at higher levels? And is there any reason why your move to the north would have been an indication you were going after that bonus?
I pointed my stack away from the bonus he took while sitting in a second bonus. He pointed his stack at me. Fair enough. If war is declared better to be the one to fire the first shot
I’m glad magenta got second, he didn’t break you in the beginning and he left you to deal with purple. Obviously he broke you towards the end but we all knew that had to happen. Either way very good game we love to see games like that.
Thanks Pete, love your videos. Your fun to watch definitely got me into Risk 😂, I've been playing on my phone recently was hoping to maybe get into some tournaments but was wondering where you enter in for yours
Nothing better than getting tons of turn ins on 1 turn. I just did a match where I got 4 turn ins on 1 turn and killed all 5 others. Best turn in my Risk time playing :D Only possible in progressive haha
Yeah its really hard to tell what your opponents are thinking. My guess is Yellow's plan was for them to take the secound bonus, then when you sent troops in, they got pissed because they wanted it.
Magenta played the "worst" game and still got the "best" position of your opponents. I mainly play classic when I play prog-games but I often find myself in winning positions when I do a lot of mistakes (like locking troops etc) but when I play "proper" with multiple stacks really to hit I usually get 1-2 of my stack popped and my game is over. My rational to this is that bad play makes good player to focus their attention on other players. Then of course you need to fortify out your stack in the late game to stand a chance, or have it opened by another player. Usually together with some card luck in order to land a win. Arguably magenta wasn't the worst player, he just used some meta to trick everyone (and he was consistently good neighbor initially when it matters). 🤔 😉
little surprised you didn't give pink (magenta, whatever you want to call it) 3rd, since they had 3 cards and it looked to me like you could easily have killed them that turn. this way, you can set in again and either kill purple the same turn, or if not, fight a much weaker oponent after since he wouldn't be able to have a trade
I personally like the Capital Conquest game but I was wondering if, in your experience, there are similar strategies. What are your thoughts on the biggest differences in the games?
@@TheKillPeteStrategy haha, so move on to classic style then?!?! I guess I should up my game and probably was just using the capital and the extra defense die as a security blanket. Thank you for the response.
I think it's a meta you can use I've been locking stacks and doing strange play initially by mistake and those game often lead to second and even first place sometimes 😉
This is the way these games go a lot of the time. That's why I'm trying to change the default convention in the community from viewing second or third place etc. As meaningful. The more I play ffa the more I think only winning should matter.
Should have eliminated pink before purple, pink had alrdy 3 cards for his next turn and purple had only 2 ( he was 0 risk), in a progressive game as it was the pink had a BIG STACK+ 3 cards( which he turned actually), if he was a good played he could have given you troubble, or if u didnt have a set with ur next 3 cards ( u luckily had, i never do xD). ggs anyway

I like the bigger maps. Would be fun with fog and/or blizzards
32:14-33:50 Loved seeing the focus from Pete with the time pressure - the man has nerves of steel
I only sort of realized I was running out of time for the last ten or so seconds and then I made sure to hustle!
for some reason this felt like the most tense game in a while because at every turn you had opponents with the option to mess with you while others got strong
Haha that's what makes winner the more satisfying.
This was extremely well played from a technical standpoint and with great explanations as commentary.
Glad to hear it! This is exactly what I'm going for
Blue and Purple going at it in the midgame was deeply satisfying to watch
Oops. All they had to do was stay cool with eachother and they could have eaten me easily

These seem like great settings. Prog with big bonuses maybe worth trying more?
Truth be told I still prefer spaceport for a huge prog map but I'm very happy with how I played this one and the read on my opponents.
I personally like the Capital Conquest game but I was wondering if, in your experience, there are similar strategies. What are your thoughts on the biggest differences in the games?
Between Caps and WD?
Caps leverages additional skill gaps against never players at the cost of creating infinite stalemates among good players.

Yellow thought you moving the big stack off meant you wanted them to take the bonus since you didn't.
