The GX9 is my favorite daily use camera...flip down screen...Ibis...compact rangefinder style...excellent Pan Leica lenses...reasonable price used... I currently street shoot with the following glass... Pan Leica 9mm f1.7...PL 15mm f1.7...Sigma DN 60mm f2.8 art...Olympus BCL0980 body cap fisheye... And for long shots I press my Canon ef70-300mmm f4-5.6 into service with a Viltrox mount adapter EF-M1 (this adapter works great and AF s all my EF glass including my Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro lens). cheers from Bangkok
I picked on up in January for my birthday. There's definitely something special about it. I had a Fuji X100V and sold that. I prefer the GX9. I have it with the Oly 17mm
I took my gx9 with the 20 mm f 1.7 Lumix and the Oly 45 mm f 1.8 in a tiny shoulder bag to Santander last September. It was all I needed while my friend was lugging a biggish FF zoomlens and camera in a rucksack. Ever so pleased with the results and I’m never going back.
I was hoping the recent Lumix announcement was a GX9 mk2 or GX10. Can't fully justify the GX9 when I'm still enjoying the GX80, but I might buy the heck out of the next model, if Panasonic has plans for such a thing.
absolutely same here... always hovering with my finger on the buy button for a GX9, but want to wait for an update, as I have a GX80 (and a G9, GH6, G7 with IR conversion 😅)
Still in 2023 im with the gx8 and i like very much… My edc lenses are a Olympus 12-40 f2.8 pro and the fifty equivalent 25mm Panasonic f1.7. On bigger trips i got a 45-150 f4-5.6 also, but got an eye on the 35-100 f2.8. It’s not cheap (like the Olympus to…i know 😅 ), but i like the aperture way more… For now i waisted my money into a new turntable. But time will tell, in a few month (end of 2023) a buddy will sell his mft stuff 😊 I much enjoy the handling (full touch on the screen), build quality and image quality of this small package…and man, all this stuff is light. Best for longer trips by feet or mtb… Enjoy this stuff guys, it’s worth it. Hope they will build a proper successor for the gx8…a bit heavier metal body, weather sealing and the new autofocus with the little bigger sensor (from GH6) would be great.
I have a GX85, which is great for pretty much all the same reasons that the GX9 is great (as you have been pointing out for a while). On a whim, I picked up the most recent version of the TTArtisans pancake lens (fixed focal length of 18mm and fixed f6.3 aperture). It was $59, does not have a lens cap so the lens is always exposed (like a cell phone), is super flat, and requires no focusing except for close up shots. It will turn your GX9 into a fully pocketable digicam-like machine but with all the usual GX9 goodies still in place (especially the stabilization). Its ready to shoot in an instant and all I have to do is adjust shutter speed (and sometimes ISO) and shoot.
OMG.....Probs the best camera Ive ever bought! Cant put my finger on it but there is something about the quality of the images that absolutely rock. I'm using it for pro work as well as my own urban street. 25mm 1.7 Pany and 12-60mm PNL. Great videos btw. UK.
Your videos have inspired me to pick up my first micro 4/3s camera. Found a gx8 for 370 dollars with a 180 day warranty. Paired it with the olympus 17 1.8. Can't wait to try it. Love your videos!
Great video again Grant 👍🏻 My most used combo is the GX9 with the Lumix 20mm f1.7. I tried a lot of fixed and zoom lenses, but I always come back to the 20mm lens. That lens hasn‘t a good reputation because of the slow and noisy autofocus, but the results are brillant in my opinion and the 20mm is „my“ focal length. And when I want it a bit wider, it‘s the Lumix 14mm f2.5. I like these small pancake lenses.
I also really like that combo. I'm on holiday with my Fuji XT5 and 15-55 f2.8, and although it's versatile, I'm finding this so heavy and cumbersome that I regret not bringing a smaller camera-lens combo...
@@markscott4059 Yes I have the Sigma 56mm f1.4 and also the 30mm f1.4. Both are excellent lenses in my opinion but as a EDC set I use often the Lumix 20mm on the GX9.
It would be great news if Panasonic would bring out a GX9II, just like they revamped the G9 this year. With the new hybrid autofocus and if they brought it out sealed it would be the camera I would renew my Olympus OM-D E-M5 mark II for. I like small, discreet cameras and lenses. That's why I'm using more and more prime lenses instead of zoom lenses. And it would be great if they took the opportunity to make a fully articulating screen. I think with the new autofocus it would be ideal for vloggers.
Brother I know exactly how you feel. I have a Gh5 ii which I love, but have a gx85 with Olympus 12-40 2.8, which is my frankincam and go-to cam. Great video
Nice video again! I 'm using the GX9 with the Panasonic Leica 15 mm 1.7. Great combo. The downside is that both camera and lens are not wheater-sealed, but for the rainy days I have the GX 8 with the 12 - 60 zoomlens. Keep up the good work!
GX85 shooter here. My current go-to lens is the PL 15mm 1.7. Brilliant little lens. Prior to that I almost always used the collapsible 12-32mm kit zoom, which is better than such a tiny lens has any right to be. Those 2 lenses, along with the 42.5mm 1.7, fit the small GXs so so well.
Grant, You have made a great series of videos on the GX9. I have recently brought a GX9 and am busy learning how to get back into creative photography. One question that i have that maybe you or another viewer can answer. Sometimes when snapping in IA+ mode there is a long pause (several seconds) between pressing the shutter release and the shot being recorded, this happens even without any compensations being set. This can lead to the shot framing being missed. Any suggestions why there is this delay?
Tempting little machine but little Olympus Pen F fulfils this particular role in my life. To me it is better build, more stylish, smaller with more flexible display.
I love my GX85 with the 12-32 lens. I get outstanding images through Lightroom and Luminar NEO. I also use my G9 with that lens. I really enjoy your channel.
I recently purchased a GX9 and the Leica Lumix 15mm f1.7 lens. The results are great from such a small go anywhere package. So I traded in my GX80 for another GX9 for my wife to use. I have been a Canon user for decades and still use my 5D iii and 7D ii for wildlife but will switch to the GX9 combo for travel as the Canon gear I now find too heavy for comfort.
The GX9 is my fun camera. Because I really do enjoy using it. I like to use it with the OMS 20mm f1.4 or the Olympus 17mm. Sometimes the Laowa 10mm f2.0 too.
Love the new intro! I had the GX( for a few months and loved it, great sensor (Same as the G9) but the EVF is horrible and I couldn't work with it. If you like small cameras, get the Pen F. The image quality es the best in micro 4/3 and it is the most beautiful camera ever. Get one while you can!
Have both gx9 and pen-f, gx9 more capable from technical pov but hard ti sell the pen-f :), but I find ti sell every camera :D I have 8 mft cameras!!! Omg...too much
Hi Grant, thank you for the video. I am using the 20 mm, the 15 mm, the 9 mm and sometimes the 45mm (Oly). All great lenses. I prefer the 15 mm over all the others.
I recently acquired the 14mm f2.5 for the GX9, but I find for the most part I will shoot with the 25mm f1.4 Leica, or the M.Zuiko 60mm f2.8 macro. The GX9 is a great little camera to shoot with as I feel it brings quite a bit of enjoyment to the shooting process.
Love the GX-9. I am on a similar quest for the right lens combo. The m.zuiko lens are small and wonderful with the GX-9. My favorite is probably the 17mm f/1.8. The 25mm f/1.8 is nice, too. A great in-between is the Lumix 20mm. The colors are wonderful and sizes of all of these are compact.

Great coincidence. I'm also have gx9 with Sigma 56mm 1.4 and I am also Ukrainian. Glory to Ukraine!
Just picked up a used GX9 and the Pany 12-35mm f2.8 M2 enjoying that combo at the moment.

I just shared the same combo before I read this. The GX85 and the 15mm Pan/Leica is amazing.
Lol. My second favorite is also the 12-32mm. It's kind of hard to tell the difference.

My GX9 with the Laowa 7.5mm F2 is such a tiny and fun combo. Also using the TTArtisan 35mm 1.4 and 17mm 1.4.
