    I think you're asking the wrong question. Don't ask which camera (28mm or 43mm) is better. Ask which camera YOU LIKE better. I am a landscape and architecture photographer, and spent this summer with just my Q3 28 running all over Italy and Greece falling in love with the Q3 28. If I could find enough money to buy the Q3 43 in addition to the Q3 28, I would buy it. But I know which one I would use the most. The 28.

      You are right, these are both fantastic cameras, it all comes down to personal preferences.
      I love the Q-System for its small size and at the same time its such a powerhouse.

    I learned photography with a Konica/40mm, so the 43 would be instinctively preferred for me. But having used the Q2 for a couple of years, the constraints have pushed me to learn and adapt and enjoy. Q3 prices are beyond my budget too. I think a lot of Leica aspiring folks will go toward the D-Lux 8.

    Each to his own as they say. I am the opposite. Lusted after a Q3 but 28 is not really me. Now the 43 is out, I ordered one! Be great to have both, but one is enough of a drain on the bank.

    I own the Leica Q3 28mm. There is no better or worse, they are the same cameras, the same high-quality workmanship and the same design. You just have to ask yourself whether you want 28mm with a usable 35/50 crop or 43mm with a usable 60/75 crop... Both have different needs and areas of application.

      Yes. I have always been a wide angle photographer. I have a 14mm lens for my full frame Nikon d800 that is insanely wide. When my father gave me his Nikon F2 Photomic back in the 70s and asked me what new lens he could buy me for Christmas I asked for a 9mm fisheye. He declined to buy that particularly expensive and somewhat useless lens, but instead bought me a 20mm Nikkor instead, which I loved and still use on my d800 today. I can't get enough information in my photos, so it's the 28 for me. But that is me. And I would find uses for the 43mm Leica as well, would would not use it as much as I use my Q3 with the 28 Summilux which is a stunner of a lens.

    These comparisons only shows that if Leica releases a Q size camera with interchangeable lenses, that would be a best seller.
    Auto-focus like the SL, compact like the Q.

    • @Christian_Kurz
      @Christian_Kurz  Місяць тому

      Absolutely! But I don´t know if they do it, it would be a huge threat for the M-System.

    • @bsmayerr
      @bsmayerr Місяць тому +1

      @@Christian_Kurz Potentially, but I feel the M system has a very specific audience, which would not stop buying M cameras. If you buy a M camera nowadays is because you either want to try a different experience of shooting or want to have that nostalgic feeling from old times.
      However, most of the younger generation is not really interested in manual focus cameras, but instead in compact cameras that looks good. The Leica Q3 is probably one of the Leica’s best sellers and yet the M system is alive.

      @@bsmayerr Interesting thoughts. Let´s hope they will release something like that in the future.

    Great video. I currently own a Nikon Zf. I would love to have any Leica if I could afford one.

    • @Christian_Kurz
      @Christian_Kurz  Місяць тому +2

      Thank you! I heard only good things about the Zf. It took me many years in business until I could afford them. The used market is also very interesting if it comes to Leica. Very often the cameras are in perfect shape, you save a good amount of money and used Leicas don´t loose any value, most of the time.

      @@Christian_Kurz Yes, I have been looking at the used market. The Q3s are very hard to find. There are several Q2s available but I would save only $800 over a new Q3. I will save for a Q3. Thanks for the reply.

    I am keeping my Q3 28, as 35 and 50 have many other alternatives 。

    If they did 50mm instead of that 43mm, things will be more different!

    • @Christian_Kurz
      @Christian_Kurz  4 дні тому

      Yes it think 50mm is what most people wanted. But I have a 40mm on the M and as someone that likes 50mm a lot, I have to say I really enjoy the 40mm focal length.

      @@Christian_Kurz good for you, I downgraded from my M10 since I am travelling a lot and wanted to be more lighter and quicker in getting those shots. Got this 28mm and it is quite good in its own, hope they get more film simulations in it.

    • @Christian_Kurz
      @Christian_Kurz  4 дні тому

      @@hoymikey I wouldn´t call the Q3 a downgrade to be honest. Do you miss the M or do you prefer the Q?

    • @hoymikey
      @hoymikey 4 дні тому +1

      @@Christian_Kurz hehe, probably because of it's exquisite heritage. But yes I miss the flexibility and the authenticity of what it does, but I find myself not using it much as I have 3 lens plus that and my Billingham bag is already heavy in itself hehe. If given the luxury M is always a dream, but nowadays Q is where I could use more.

    I don't mean to be rude, but after looking at some sample photos on dpreview, I can tell that everything coming out of it just looks like what I get from my $300 Panasonic.

      @@year-ago It’s hard to see on a Video display of an internet broadcast, but I assure you that no camera made by Panasonic ever made the kind of output that either of these Leicas produce. The combination of that 60mp sensor combined with either one of these lenses precludes that. I would be fully confident that these files could be printed 60”x40” and look like a million. That kind of detail just doesn’t read thru the internet.

      It’s like how all the reviews of Porsche Boxters on UA-cam seemed just like how a Miata drives, so I bought the Miata instead.
