      I had the same experience. In fact, I suddenly became so stupid, but immediately I went home that day I searched for a video on hill starts and boom, I got it. Some instructors can be really horrible.

    I had no idea automatic cars could roll down a hill until I got my own. For the first few days, I was convinced that something was wrong with the car and contemplated returning it to the dealership 😂😂.. But after I found this video, I knew everything would be okay. Thank you sooo much for sharing this. 🇿🇦 🇿🇦 🇿🇦

    This is one of the best videos I have watched on the hill start assist for automatic cars and is really helpful. Just one thing, in the case of auto hold, this will not work on steep hills as this is supposed to work on plane surfaces usually. For that, you need to use your electronic parking brake.

    • @drivingtestaustralia
      @drivingtestaustralia  2 роки тому

      Thank you Saad. Auto Hold is actually supposed to work on hills only. It is designed to engage when the car is stopped on an incline

    • @drivingtestaustralia

      Yes, if you stop temporarily on a steep hill, eg. at a stop sign or behind a red light, you need to leave the gear on D and do a hill start 🙂

    Why can't you press the brake pedal with your left foot instead of using the parking break?

    • @drivingtestaustralia
      @drivingtestaustralia  Рік тому +1

      If you have your left foot on the brake pedal while trying to accelerate uphill, you will have both feet on two pedals. This can be dangerous if you accidentally confuse the accelerator with the brake pedal. Using the handbrake eliminates this issue.

    I didnt know automatics do roll back on a hill. Mine doesn't, I would assume its because it has quite a lot of torque right from the low rpms.

  • @IanSayGonzales
    @IanSayGonzales 2 роки тому

    Well, handbrake is not mandatory to press when pulling it.
    What would you do if your student did that? Would you let him do that or you are going to tell him to always press it even though it is really not required.

    • @drivingtestaustralia
      @drivingtestaustralia  2 роки тому

      Putting the handbrake up when pulling in is required. I and all the driving examiners always ask the students to put their handbrake up when stopping the car beside the road

    • @punya121
      @punya121 Рік тому

      In this video, she pressed the silver button while pulling up the hand brakes. That's not required. Button press is only required to release the hand brake. That's what he is referring to

    • @drivingtestaustralia
      @drivingtestaustralia  Рік тому +1

      @@punya121 To properly engage the handbrake, you need to press the silver button and hold it until the handbrake is fully up, then release the button. You should not hear any noise when engaging the handbrake. Failing to press the button can cause wear and tear to the handbrake. However, this is not marked down in a driving test.

    • @drivingtestaustralia
      @drivingtestaustralia  2 роки тому

      Definitely. That's something that you can look for when doing a hill start. I just didn't want to make it too complicated. Usually if you press the accelerator gently and notice the head of the car is lifted, the rpm is around 2000

    • @drivingtestaustralia
      @drivingtestaustralia  2 роки тому +2

      Hi there, no this is not an acceptable method. Left foot is not to be used when driving an automatic car. Using the left foot in such situations during the driving test is a mark down.

    • @bak-4a-bit113
      @bak-4a-bit113 9 місяців тому +4

      Please don't be a left foot braker in an auto unless it's an emergency. If you do one or more adverse things can happen. Firstly you're training yourself to use both feet which can result in applying both pedals in the wrong situation. Secondly, it may trigger a different mode of operation in newer cars. It called brake override & the engine is detuned to favour brake pedal input from switches. This means the drivability will be affected like loss of power. And finally, left foot braking is an error in the Qld practical driving test believe it or not.
