    The most valuable fashion advice I have learned is “build your outfits from the shoes up”. Foot comfort is #1 for me.

    I’m 5 foot and curvy with a little belly. Peplums stick out because of my belly and pleated pants create too much bulk there. Tucking shirts in emphasizes my belly too. I like buttoned down slightly fitted blouses or knit wrap tops.

    • @morahstylelab
      @morahstylelab  9 місяців тому +4

      Sometimes, the issue isn't with the clothes themselves but what you wear underneath. Consider trying shaping undergarments or high-waisted options that provide support and smooth out your silhouette.
      As for the peplum style, it can indeed accentuate the belly for some women. You might want to try tops with subtle peplum details or opt for styles that cinch at the waist without adding too much volume around the midsection.
      Regarding pleated pants, the type of pleats can make a difference. Flat-front pants or pants with small, vertical pleats may be more flattering as they create less bulk around the tummy area compared to larger, horizontal pleats but try to experimenting with different textures and cuts, it can will help you find pieces that flatter your figure while keeping you comfortable and stylish.
      Remember, it's all about finding what makes you feel comfortable and confident!

    • @morahstylelab
      @morahstylelab  9 місяців тому

      Thank you! And yes you can, but makes sure you try wider waistband to help distribute the fabric evenly to prevent it from digging into the waist, thus creating a smoother silhouette. Also, avoid too many pleats because it can create bulk. Instead opt for pleated slacks with a flat front design, to streamline the midsection and minimize the appearance of a large tummy. And above all make sure its a proper sizing. This text is long but happy to help!!

    I despise pleated pants. On anyone. When you sit they puff out. I prefer something over my belly that gives a bit of support. Also peplum tops advertise that you are trying to hide a belly and I personally don’t find them that attractive. The dresses were very nice.

    • @morahstylelab
      @morahstylelab  9 місяців тому +8

      I completely understand your concerns about pleated pants. A few tips; For the pleated pants, maybe that happens because of the fabric, pleats placement or the fit. For example, pants with flat-front designs or pleats that start below the waistband rather than at the waistline, may help minimize bulk around the midsection and reduces the likelihood of puffing out when seated.
      And, pleated pants made from fabrics with more structure, such as wool, or heavyweight cotton, are less likely to puff out when you sit compared to lighter, flowy materials.
      These are just few tips, but I hope it helps. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's great to hear your preferences.

      I have never liked them either, but because of my cancer, I have had to have two ostomies. My ostomies bags sit right on top of my stomach and I have found pleated pants look the best on me…high waisted and pull on. They mask my tummy and allow for expansion I need with my ostomy bags.

      I usually feel the same way about pleats, but the difference is that the pair shown use pleats w/pintucks that elongate the body and legs and the pleats are small and sparingly used. Old-fashioned pleated pants definitely create the "diaper" effect and highlight a larger tummy. Additionally, high-low peplums work better than evenly hemmed peplums at disguising the tummy.

    I was 57kg (125lbs) into my late 40’s until menopause, and what a rude shock that was! Now sitting at 70kg which is still heavier than when I was 9 months pregnant, but my gp has said that 57kg will just never happen again. I did go up to 90kg when I was on cortisone for Systemic Lupus and I did get that off by dancing at night in my pjs to 80’s dance music. Couldn’t go to a gym as I have fractures from osteoporosis. I have learnt how to dress though after having 3 babies and now being 63 (oh dear) I will not look frumpy. My grandma at this age looked old and I refuse to. Times have changed and women look much younger than our ancestors at the same age.

      I'm almost 10 years older than you and I lost 40 lbs in the last year. 36 years ago, I gained 50 lbs when I was pregnant and I lost that weight. I'm not sure why your GP said you can't weigh 57kg again. I lost weight by eating foods that are very low in carbohydrates, no sweets, no bread, pasta, rice, chips, salty snacks, cereals, drinks with sugar (I use Splenda) anything made with flour. I ate 3 meals a day that included salads with a little dressing, eggs, cheese (not too much [constipation may occur]), chicken, fish, veggies, peanut butter (no bread), anything that has less than 10mg of carbohydrates per serving, less salt and lots of water. Talk to your doctor BEFORE making any of these dietary changes. My only form of exercise is walking. I've had 4 hip replacements, a knee and back replacement surgery, rotator cuff (shoulder) surgery.

      @@happybutterfly7124 I do eat very healthy food, the issue is with my inability to move much at all anymore and severe falls. I cannot walk much, my balance is rubbish due to peripheral neuropathy in my feet, not from diabetes but from lupus which causes numbness and I don’t feel the surface underfoot. Nearly killed myself by falling and hitting our concrete garden sleepers with my head just due to imbalance. Had a black eye and a huge haematoma on my noggin for 2 months, and it undermines your self confidence and makes you afraid to fall again. I’ve had 2 vertebrae compression fractures from sneezing and 4 rib fractures from doing up my shoes, and 2 of those were this year. But I do garden, I have raised beds and digging etc is my exercise and is food for my soul. So while I appreciate your suggestions, they are things that I am already doing. I have lost 20kg and considering my physical issues am proud of that.

    Question: what about those of us who cannot wear high heeled shoes?

    • @morahstylelab
      @morahstylelab  9 місяців тому

      Good question! If you are looking for comfort without compromising style, kitten heels are a fantastic alternative. They offer a bit of height while still providing stability and comfort. As for sensible shoes with arch support and cushioning, options like stylish flats or low-heeled sandals with supportive insoles can complement these outfits beautifully. These types of shoes prioritize comfort without sacrificing fashion, ensuring you can confidently step out in style while taking care of your feet. But, I will definitely do a detailed video on this topic. Stay tuned. Thank You!

    One major flaw with your video presentation is that you are projecting the opinion that Apple Shaped means fat. Not true all the time. I am a size 10 Apple Shaped woman, and am considered medium sized. What Apple shaped signals is that the woman has a natural tendency to store excess weight around the belly. However, doesn't necessarily mean that the woman will be fat or obese.

      @@annsgal2025I'm apple shaped. When I was a size 10,l before I gained weight, I didn't have a "large tummy". I had a bit of a pouch and a thick waist. So I think the title of the video pretty clearly explains the body type of its targeted viewer. It doesn't always have to be about you specifically. There are plenty of stylists on UA-cam who give style tips for thin to medium sized women with apple shapes - far more, in fact, than ones for plus size women, however, the basic principles are the same. Most of the tops you see online for plus size women are styling pear shaped or hourglass figures.

      Great, but it's important to recognize that every woman's body is unique, and there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to styling.
      Women come in all shapes and sizes, and body types can often be a combination of different shapes. For instance, someone might identify as an apple shape but still share characteristics with a pear shape or other body types.

      @@morahstylelab exactly my point: this video says: "this style/shape looks good/bad." It doesn't say, "if you are this profile, this shape looks good/bad."
      The person these clothes are for is not even remotely like my profile.
      I stand firm on the flares, however.

    I have a big belly but not the big breasts to go with it so most of these would not work for me.

    The person in the introduction has a belly. These people don't. Their stomachs are well proportioned with their bodies. I want to know about average sized women that have a belly like in the introduction. These women still have flat stomachs in proportion to their sizes.

    They would all look a lot better with pants one or two sizes larger--then the style would skim over the stomach, with the pleats taking the eye down past the bulge. These just look unflattering and uncomfortable tbh.

    Awesome! blessings to everyone, if you haven't yet repented and accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please do so before it's too late, it's not God's will for none to perish Acts 2 vs 38 John 3 vs 16 Romans 10 vs 13

    None of these women are apple shaped. All have some bellies but very defined waists. What they're wearing looks good on them but will never look good on an apple shape.

    It's not just the tummy that looks fat in all these photos, legs butt hips neck arms. Women, stop eating so much fattening food! Just stop it, eat organic only stay away from all cookies and ice cream. You can do it!
