- Arnie Lawrence & Treasure Island, 1983. Every so often you bump into a record and you can’t understand how it fell through the cracks. This is the epitome of that. Spiritual Jazz of the highest order with moments of Alice Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders.
The album was recorded in 1979 and released in 1983 on Doctor Jazz Records. Produced by Bob Thiele, the album features outstanding performances from Tom Harrell on trumpet and flugelhorn. Also Badal Roy, a veteran of Miles Davis’ bands, on tablas. Percussionists Abdullah Maghrib & Jeff Williams lay a deep groove and Lois Colin on harp evokes that Alice Coltrane sound.
Highly recommended!!!

Great album, i can feel the spirit of the 70s and 80s, amongst several other aesthetic notes.
Great and rare album from artist who will be great discovery for many jazz lovers. Arnie played in mid sixties with Chico Hamilton and Larry Coryell. This legendary recording sounds modern after so many years. Regards from Slovenia! Vladimir Trop
