      Are you... kidding me???
You think medical treatments should be FORCED on people?
You're opening a seriously disgusting box with that mentality.
I bet you wanted to force shmobid shmots on people too? 🤔
How did that turn out for ya, huh?
      Yeah... that's what I thought.
About like radium, lead, radon, opium, oxycontin, baby powder, sunscreen, cigarettes, "bleeding the pt of their humours", and those Syphyllis shots the Tuskeegee airmen got.
How about maybe let people make their own decisions and stop judging? They aren't harming a single other person. Only themselves. But you choose to be nasty.

What used to irritate me as a nurse was when I would have my patients tell me they were in extreme agony, 10/10 pain and needed a pain shot. So, I would go draw up their pain medication and as I returned to their room, I would hear them laughing and joking on the phone and would tell me to wait until they were done with their phone call as though I had nothing better to do than stand there and stare at them while they were jaw jacking on the phone. They had excruciating pain but could sit there laughing and talking on the phone without a care in the word while my other patients would get upset because nobody was answering their call lights. I got to the point as I got older, I would tell them I would come back when they were done with their phone call and lock up their pain medication until they put their call back on which was usually 2 minutes, and they were back in "excruciating" pain again. 🙄

Depression lies to us and tells us we don't have enough energy to do much... We only have enough energy for a shower OR to cook supper. But only one. Not both. And nothing else.
We have to teach ourselves that our own mind is lying to us.
It's usually that first step that's the MOST overwhelming though... 😔

I'm not saying Marla is a Disgusting Grotesquely Morbidly Obese Slob or anything, that's not something that anyone should say, but I think that this Farm Animal is making good progress and should be rewarded accordingly. Maybe a couple Honey Buns, a few Nutty Bars, a couple Hostess Snack Pies (I like the Chocolate ones) a big bag of chips and a couple liters of Generic Brand Orange soda would really hit the spot, keep her motivated, and let her know that everyone is going to be alright.

Marla was sexually abused as a child and later abused in high school. Like those who become substance abusers at a young age, her emotional maturity level is/was stunted. You could tell by her petulance when required to do the "work" necessary to remedy her condition.
At one point when Dr. Now was talking she dropped her head, kept her eyes downcast, and was kind of rocking back & forth. ...just like a pouty kid. It takes psychological counseling to get to the root of their problems. It is so much more than being "lazy" or "ungrateful". We all react to trauma differently, especially trauma at a young age.
These people are not always likeable. But often our hostile responses say more about us than it does about them.

    • @jb6712
      @jb6712 3 місяці тому

"Not exercising is deadly." Hunh....mighty hard to do the exercise you're thinking of when one's mobility has been greatly reduced. I'm only referring to my own because I suffered a huge and devastating injury ten years ago that means I now have to use a quad cane just to walk inside my apartment. I'm also not to go outside at all except to get to and from my car, and that's it, because I've had skin cancer removed, and am at huge risk for further to develop.
It's so easy for others to say "Do more," "exercise," "just get up and DO "IT," "It's easy to lose weight, you "just" have to quit overeating" when they haven't been where the morbidly obese person has, or the severly injured person is.

Drug addicts say they're going to quit, they're just not ready yet. Alcoholics and smokers do the same thing. I get irritated with these patients too, but they're being faced with life chages that were easier in their heads than in reality. I've quit smoking 3 times and am back at it. I know exactly what it's doing to my body, and I work with patients in a respiratory hospital. It's insane. But it makes us feel better to lie to ourselves by saying "I'm not ready" than it is to face the truth and acknowledge we're refusing to change. Change is particularly scary when you know it's a lifelong commitment. Easier to set yourself up for failure to avoid disappointment. Don't get me wrong, they're whiny brats, but I think often they're just terrified.

@@egalo-medina6859 Bc the behaviors of the students and many of the parents are off the wall insane, and yes, it’s way worse in our inner cities. Ask any teacher who works in one. There’s a reason why there’s a huge teacher shortage that’s only getting worse, and salaries are not the main reason. The violence, disrespect, total lack of interest in getting an education…I could go on and on. Our inner cities have a 50% high school drop out rate, far higher than in other places. Most of the ones who do graduate don’t deserve to. I was assaulted by two mothers, twice in one year, once with a weapon. I could have been killed, took them both to court after the principal begged me not to bc “it won’t look good for the school.” I could tell you more stories that would make your hair curl. The trauma is very real. We are trained to teach. We did not sign up to be cops, prison guards, shrinks, counselors, or bodyguards. It is beyond scary.

Initially I felt sorry for her. When I saw her BS attitude with the laptop, phone, and physical therapists, that sympathy quickly went down hill. Did she think they would be able to just remove all of her excess weight without ANY effort from HER??? That's not how this works. If you want to be in shape, YOU have to take the initiative and help YOURSELF. The doctors can only do so much. If you're capable of playing on your computer all day, you can do a few mild leg lifts and arm stretches. That's likely all she would've had to do in that condition. People in this program who are wasting Dr. Now's time kind of irk me. There should be a policy of "Once you enter the program, you are allowed only one electronic device and it is only for speaking to loved ones". It's like a form of rehab and should be treated as such. If they're going to let her keep doing what she was doing at home, she's not getting better. Has anyone TOLD her she had actually stopped breathing? That might have opened her eyes a little bit to the gravity of the situation. But, then again, maybe not. Many of these people want a quick fix and instant gratification and when they are told that literally couldn't happen even if it was possible, they lose their motivation and acquire an attitude real fast. Dr. Now needs to focus on people who genuinely want to get better.

You are right they want a quick fix and continue eating and don't want to do anything themselves because they are used to that at home being in bed all day and have other run to get them all the meals they want and whatever else they want. I can imagine some of them don't want to lose weight because then they would have to take a job and clean the house and take care of themselves they'd rather steal their children's childhood, teens and even adulthood so they don't have to do anything. They must have whatever they want and if they don't get it they get angry. They should never be allowed to have the surgery before they show they are willing to do something themselves. Some will feel sorry for them for some childhood trauma but many has them without getting this big and the worst part is what kind of trauma are they giving their kids not being able to live normal lives. In some cases I don't believe their stories I think they have a story for people to feel sorry for them and say no wonder she is eating herself to death.

BUT, most of my younger years, aside from asthma, she has been active and good looking. Didn't need to be taken care of. Was something to be proud of.
