Toposolid smooth shading. I was waiting for this for a while, I can finally soften the topography and make it not look so robust. Thank you for sharing the new and improved features of Revit 2025.
everyone just bear with me... i want to comment on two things: 1- we need skirting command : In many regions of the world, skirting are used in almost all buildings. Currently there are two ways to do skirting. Either by using wall swepe or model in place swepe and both need a lot of work ... goddamet, revit can find out the boundaries of the room using room Command and it know were the door opening, how difficult it is to integrate these two pieces of information and work from it a new command for skirting!!!! 2- array command in revit it's sucks : If you compare revit array command with other programs such as 3D Max and AutoCAD array command, you will understand what I mean. We need it to work on complex... and organic paths... and on more than one path at the same time. This is what we need...

All these new features are nice but what I really really want is backwards compatibility. Not to the first edition but at least till 2017 edition. Imagin opening a 2024 Revit file on your 2019 version. That would be a huge relief.
Yes absolutely agree with your opinion on this issue .... If they did this then this would be a huge relief, Higher versions always required Higher Higher hardware systems configuration and most of the time you cannot carry our laptops or PCs with Higher configuration to anywhere..... We cannot always upgrade to new versions because of office standards set .....
Still not updating main issues that have been here for years. Fix stair problems, fix wall's recognizing curtain wall as WALL- need to have turn off option for curtain wall wraps. Parts are still too medieval always having errors, soil cubic meter options are not advanced enough, mass need to become more advanced and stop getting basic geometric errors, need to improve wall sweeps also.
I mean the underlying philosophy of everything object hosting (allegedly) and being parametrically associated (allegedly) with other objects still makes it impossible to fluidly model in Revit in 3d, which is thd biggest time waste and problem with the program as a whole, and that can not be fixed.
Thank you for this detailed video. For what it's worth, at second 12:24 (regarding the Toposolid smooth shading): this will not slow down your computer or the view. The real trade of is that the surface patterns will not work on smooth shaded toposolids. Although that's a price I am willing to pay because the toposolids will look much - much - better in renderings with smooth shading on.
What about the fill of the toposolid? That was the biggest issue when pads were removed: with pads you could have it half cutting and half filling the terrain on a sloped topography, with one geometry (a pad) quickly and easily. Now it seems that you have to cut one part of the terrain and then build a fill geometry. Twice the work...
Completely agree with this comment above - to completely overhaul the site tools but leave out half the functionality of the previous version (pads and snapping points) has been a trainwreck for our firm - we do a lot of topo / site levels and since upgrading to 2024 been nothing but a struggle. Hopefully this excavate tool and 3D snapping to model elements (linked building files into site files???) goes some way to restoring that functionality.
My array workaround was previously to have a single copy of the arrayed item and have this single item and the array items use visibility parameters that were controlled by the number of items, so if the number of items user parameter was set to 1, it would set the count to 2, but hide the array and show just the single item instead. If it was zero it would hid both the array and the single item. This is obv much better
minor update. frustrating to be charged more and more each year for this. waiting for AI implementation even at a very low level to start. Not holding my breath
Great to see that they’re fixing the mess they made of topography in 2024. Do you know if you can snap to point clouds when editing toposolid points? This is a feature that has been needed since day one.
@@balkanarchitect just tried it out today. Looks like it CAN be done. Selecting the XYZ option when adding points makes this possible. This is an absolute game changer for me, as I work with point clouds all the time.
Toposolid improvements look promising, would love if you did an in depth video on it to see if it is usable now. Also wondering what the workflow will be when linking building models into site models as far as cutting the toposolid...
So many of these features are great, but until we can get consistent font generation, PDF export will never be used in our office. It changes the font width during export causing it to ignore cell padding and even go outside the cell boundary in schedules. It looks right in Revit and when we print with Bluebeam. This has been an issue since the feature was introduced in 2019. (Using the OOB default, Arial with a width factor of 1.0 if you're wondering.)
Looks like you Architects got a few more upgrades than we Electrical folks got - however I want to create some custom families with arrays now that is actually works!
I truly believe developers must include a native solution for scheduling doors by opening direction, without relying on workarounds or third-party plugins.
I see that there will be a new toposolid video coming soon, I really want to know the best workflow for making sunken roads and curbs. So far, railings have worked well in 2024 but are not good in 2023. We really want a negative subdivide for toposolid. This may have been addressed with the new excavate tool, but I haven't tried there has to be a way to offset an excavation from the existing grade orther than splitting it. I was also wondering if subdivide works for linked topography now. We have been using revit 2023 so that we can link the civil 3d topography and use subregion. Thx.
Great, Autodesk is improving things, something else i would love to have in Revit as a built in function, is a more sophisticated filter, to filter not only categories, but also types and instances.
This is already a possibility within Revit's filtering system. You can use parameters (both instance and type) to then filter the information you see within a schedule or elements within a view. Let me know if you need anymore help.
@@ibstah92 i'm not talking about filters, but about filter, like filtering elements, with the button in the bottom right corner of Revit, an easy and fast way of filtering elements not for visual reasons but for selecting the ones you want to find in a model, i used to have an addon that used to do that, filter and sort selected elements as categories, types and instances, normal filter is only filtering categories, not instances and types.
