NASCAR 21 Ignition Review - The Final Verdict
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 лис 2024
- If you haven't picked up on it yet, the basic theme of my experience with NASCAR 21 Ignition is that it seems to float around between good and mediocre - but mostly stays in good territory when it’s not having a graphical aneurysm. The only big common denominator that ever really bothered me is the bare-bones nature of it all. There's not much customization options, race modifiers, or racing modes. Even for NASCAR, it just feels a bit too simple too often.
Couple that with the mediocre graphics and no current gen features or enhancements, and it ends up being a fairly hard sell for its full price of 60 bucks. The most hardcore NASCAR fans among us will probably still get some enjoyment out of it, and it's saving grace - the racing itself - is undeniably adequate. For many, that might very well be enough. But in terms of just about everything else, it's a bit of a snooze.
“You can only choose between three manufacturers” yeah because it’s the only three in nascar.
Nah, he is waiting for that Ferrari drop in Nascar 21
Was probably referring to only cup series an meant to say no trucks in game
Also complaints on weather options...sunny or cloudy, and night are it...lmao because there is no racing in the snow or rain

Spinning people out is easier than it should be? No. It is easy, the slightest bump can send someone spinning. Why do we have gaming channels review games they literally have no knowledge of how the sport really is? 😒
Missed a lot of talking points on this clusterfuck of a game.
@Noah Roth 🤣🤣🤣🤣these the people that get paid 6 figures for this. See why games are garbage post 2015? 🤣🤣
Thank you
@@djack2058 They're garbage because greedy ass execs prioritise profit over game quality. Nothing to do with one guy on UA-cam who 100% isn't getting paid 6 figures
It took me about 45 seconds to realise the money i wasted. This review is accurate. Underwhelming, simple....had me saying "this is it?....this cant be all". Why can they not make a nascar game comparable to F1 games.
This is my first NASCAR game as I grew up on F1, I love the racing here but aside from that you’re right, the game is too simple, can’t wait to get the indycar game tho, but Motorsport games will probably be underwhelming there, at least they’ll do right by the cars & tracks
@@christophermoltisanti4776 that isn’t true, either way, developers could’ve done more here
F1 is a much more known and bigger name than Nascar tbf...
also F1 is made by codemasters
Because F1 is infinitely more popular and deserves 100% more attention than nascar.
They can’t make it a good game atm unfortunately as the game is under a contract with Motorsport Games, which are quickly losing money and people left and right. Best hope would be if they ultimately shutdown completely having to find a new developer (code masters would be perfect, long shot I know) Motorsport Games is a company that probably knows nothing about NASCAR, hence so many issues. Would love to have NASCAR nerd work on one some day! 🙏🏼
“Only three manufacturers” - Accurate. Ford, Chevy, Toyota are the only NASCAR car manufacturers. Are you even familiar with NASCAR in the slightest?
“Only cloudy or sunny” - Save for road courses, NASCAR can not race in the rain, so very much accurate. Obviously the reviewer is not at all familiar with NASCAR.
“Easy to spin out opponents” - Pretty accurate as well. Have you ever seen a NASCAR race at all? If you could walk at 190-200 MPH, you pushing with your hand on the opponents car could spin them out, how much more force does that 3800lbs of racing metal have???
“Crew Chief constantly talking the same few things” - Actually that’s the spotter, doing his accurate job of telling the driver, who sits inside and can’t turn his head left or right to look on his own, car high or low, car right or left, 3 wide, etc… Again, have you never seen a single minute of a NASCAR race?
You complained about all the things they actually got RIGHT….
Yet what they totally got wrong? You don’t mention, at all!
Maybe stick to reviewing games you actually know one iota about….
You tore him a new asshole 😲😂
I immediately stopped listening when he said the thing about the spotter and the brands, he was constantly falling out of his line so of course his spotter is going to update him on his surroundings 😂

@@garyr7027 my comment got deleted... what did I say?
@@AZ-rg3rf sure it got deleted?... I can see it. Anyways what you said was facts but funny at the same time, you put it in the right perspective where the video did not.

It's not the crew chief talking to the driver, it's the spotter. The crew chief is like the "manager" or "head coach" of the team. The spotter sits atop the track somewhere and lets the driver know where other drivers are versus his race car.
The reviewer obviously doesn't understand NASCAR.
It literally gives the player the option to LOOK AT CREW CHIEF, when he's holding the tablet. Don't blame the reviewer, blame the game.
No i blame the reviewer because if he was knowledgeable about the sport and the game he wouldn’t have said it was the crew chief. He should know being a game reviewer that it’s the spotters voice. Just makes me believe that the reviewer knows absolutely nothing about the sport or the game.
Acting like pit maneuvers are just an acceptable move
@mattboxmedia hey dude, you're wrong. I am a long-time NASCAR fan. I grew up with the sport and have spent COUNTLESS hours watching racing. And not just NASCAR, but also Formula 1, INDYCAR, Sprint Cars, Midgets(that's what they are actually called), and even NHRA. @djg-cue3547 and @clcbc97 are absolutely correct. The Crew Cheif does also talk to the driver but the conversation is more about how the car is performing(too lose or too tight) and any mechanical issues. The Spotter, sits atop the track somewhere where he can see the entire track and the rest of the field(other cars) and relays to the driver info on where those drivers are at. Drivers wear a device called a HANS device that essentially keeps their head in a straightforward position. This is so that should the driver find himself in a wreck, his head does not slam forward or to the side, resulting in injury or death, look up Dale Earnhardt Daytona 500 2001crash and you will see why this device was made mandatory for all drivers. The Spotter has ALWAYS been a part of NASCAR, but his importance was amplified after this device became mandatory. The Spotter is who you are hearing, not the Crew Cheif.
@@mattboxmedia also, go back to the beginning of the video where the reviewer is showing game play and you hear the character in the game say "three wide, three wide, up top, up top". Did you notice how he had closed captions on? Whatch them when he is saying those phrases, it says Spotter: three wide, three wide"
Another Review where clearly no one has the slightest idea of the Sport. And jeez, who was driving for that Footage? Was he/she drunk?
This is not the Type of Quality I'm used to with your Videos!
this reeks of gatekeeping the sport without actually saying it. I do not skate or know the expert stuff regarding skating but I can still review a skating game and give my honest thoughts and opinions on it aka a LITERAL REVIEW LMFAO. This type of elitism you spew is the exact reason why NASCAR/Professional driving has stagnated in popularity because of basement dwellers like yourself ;)
@@chargers014 I think he was referencing things like, as a few others have mentioned, the reviewer seemingly criticizing the inclusion of only three manufacturers when there are, in fact, only three manufacturers in NASCAR or when he said in this review, "Even for NASCAR, it seems a bit too simple, too often." I mean, "Even for NASCAR..."? C'mon. I understand that to the uninitiated it's just cars going in a circle, but - like baseball or golf - the more you know about it, the more you realize how much is involved (even if you still don't end up a fan, which is perfectly reasonable) and comments like that one in the video are just kind of snotty and come off as condescending to stock car racing and its fans.
The criticisms of the gameplay are perfectly fine. Same with the options. I haven't started playing the game yet, but I'm already having buyer's remorse. That being said, I'll keep it until more patches come out. In the meantime, I'll probably buy F1 2021 and play that into the ground.
@@chargers014 ...but he complained about there only being 3 car companies when if he did a hint of research he'd know thats how it works in Nascar IRL
@@chargers014 Honestly, no. As a big racing game fan and there is a massive problem with gatekeeping in this community but this isn't an example of that. I know driving games are somewhat universal, but the ones relating to specific race series need someone who is familiar with the real world sport. You wouldn't hand FIFA to an NBA 2K streamer and expect them to understand the specific nuances of football enough to be able to go into real detail on a football game, they simply don't have a firm grasp on what they're looking at. They could certainly write a review on it, it's their opinion on the game after all, but that opinion would be incredibly stunted compared to what a football fan would be able to produce.
I wonder why it was designed for PS4 with PS5 compatibility? They could have added some next gen features for PS5 players. This review saved me $85 bucks. Thanks!
Probably because majority of us still use ps4 because they’re still sold out everywhere
They said they would be getting a full blown PS5 and Xbox series x version in the coming months. Still gonna be shit tho

Heat 5 is still better. You can't choose 2 3 4x wear/fuel to compensate for the track. This also means in 21 if you want to experience pit stops etc you have to do like 50% min race length because on 15% by the time your having to pit the race is over lmao
It's not CoD and doesn't need a bunch of made up modes. It nascar all it needs is career, single and online. You can tell this guy has never watched a race in his life
I just wish they added dirt track racing to the game or truck racing. Hell even the wheelin series. I do agree though it’s not like the game needs 10000 different modes.
@@HotBoiRicer kinda glad they didn't, Graphics always seem to be lower with all those different series added but I see where your coming from
So you admit nascar isn’t supposed to have much depth.
this does not look like an improvement on Heat 5 (which actually has quite enjoyable racing).
It dies with graphics and some other things, but how it works not so much
This game has so much potential
It’s a sharp downgrade from that outside of graphics mind as well save your money
It isn't. I always said that Heat 5 was a decent game, but that took five or six years of work. I really don't think MSG have the resources to make these kinds of games, and I think they might have done fatal harm to their brand with this release.
I had pre-ordered it on Steam and played it for 45min more or less. It has masses of bugs and you can not even use the buttons on your steering wheel, which means driver camera, look right and left and back and also the menu control is all via the keyboard.
You can't drive yourself out of the pits either, but you find yourself driving on the track right away, which might not be so bad if my car hadn't had damage almost every time.
That's why it only took me 45min to give up on this game and request a refund on Steam.
My conclusion is that it is unfortunately the worst racing game of the last few years at this point, they don't get a handle on that so quickly!
iRacing is where it's at, buddy. I want to get it but I don't have a proper driving setup yet. I want the whole setup before I buy.
Way too nice of a review! Definitely a $60 frisbee or coffee table coaster material!
Just turned on the game for the first time, no wheel support for Thrustmaster wheels. Immediately requested a refund from Sony. Worst Nascar Racing Game I've ever experienced.
Yep same issue with Xbox and the Logitech g920 wheel. This is an unacceptable issue.
And my transmission is stuck to the wheel and can’t use Th8a. Throttle keeps cutting out badly cutting my speed by 30-40 mph. I was excited about this game played it for maybe an hour before it got to be too much. I was one of the idiots that jumped on preorder ASAP and got champions edition. Bad idea 😂
You cant even use the buttons on the wheel? No track map, no fuel, no tire management, bugs galore, no rear view mirror, no time trials, career mode sucks. Heat 5 is like iracing compared to this
Hang on, the rFactor engine was a selling point and they haven't even added wheel compatibility?
@@MMR_LM Logitech g something was the 1 wheel that was compatible at launch. What a joke
how many times does the crew say three wide? one is enough.
I would immediately Uninstaller. That was horrible at the beginning.
They constantly tell the driver if they have someone below them, if they are 3 wide, how far behind the others are, or have someone coming up

Even at low speeds, the car will just spin itself out. Unacceptable.
That’s that no traction control, it’s more fun like that tho
I just wanna add a game breaking bug in career mode that needs to be said that I ran into multiple times testing/simulating:
You cant race past 5 seasons in career mode as you will not have a contract even though the agent says you got contract offers to go over and you cant race anyways. This makes career mode completely broken.
That sucks man, that didn't happen to me thank god.
Snake Plisskin has started a new career in NASCAR? Dude can do it all.
He learned a lot from Cabbie, back in the day.
Thanks. Saved me 60.00. I'll stick with heat
I don’t know why this was not mentioned in the video… But NASCAR rules do not even exist in this game. Almost impossible to get a caution flag, no stage racing, and you get black flagged for absolutely nothing. Not to mention the fact that the pitstops are virtually broken and glitch out every single time you come into the pits, there is no gauge and or meter to tell you how much your tires are worn, or have any idea how much fuel you have in your car. Unfortunately, as someone who has played racing games my entire life, this is an extreme disappointment… And I will be staying with heat five until even the basic NASCAR rules are put into the game. Nothing like being 3/4 through a race, getting spun out, then your entire race is over because there is no caution flag and you are so far behind a pack it’s impossible to catch up… Let me tell you, it is infuriating.
How do you call this "The Final Verdict" when you have not played mutiplayer?
Tbh this is a great first step in building a great NASCAR game. It looks like they FINALLY have intros again at tracks which I always felt was needed for a real broadcast feel. The HUD looks really good. Work on the bugs and mechanics and add like a season/career mode with current drivers as well for a game mode. Can’t wait for the 2023 release
There isn’t a 2023 game
I'll stick with Nascar heat 4. Why can't Nascar take a page from F1 games book when it comes to a career mode. especially in the My team mode.
Legal issues. Companies own the drivers basically. If you put Kyle Busch in a shell penzoil car at Penske there could be a lawsuit

Your misguided complaint about not being able to change the weather conditions for custom races. Dude, havd you ever seen an ACTUAL NASCAR race? NASCAR does not race in the rain! NASCAR uses what are called "slicks", essentially they are tires that do not have tread(or raidial) on them. If the track is wet(like when raining) the cars would just be slipping and sliding and would not be able to hold any traction on the track. My point is that not being able to race while raining makes absolute sense. You should really do your research on the sport that you are reviewing a game for
Not counting the fact in real life no one can change the weather anyways... so a option for that is rather senseless.
Hearing the spotter at the biginning of the video is enough to make me avoid this fucking turkey of a game.
It's pretty disheartening to know that an almost-19 year old game (NR2K3) has literally kicked the shit out of every game since 2003...and continues to do so even to this day.
2002 was great as well.
What ruined the game for me is the fact that when you go into the pits, the pace car (for whatever reason) is always in front of you when you leave the pit. And I rear end it, causing further damage to my car. The pace car is supposed to be in its own space near the front, not in the middle of the pit. Terrible decision by the devs to do that. Not to mention the AI is extremely stupid. I could be on the outside on a turn giving all the space in the world for the faster cars and they will still ride up next to you and ram into you. It's not a nascar sim. It's a bugged out bumper car sim.

They should fix the bugs before they even think about adding new stuff to the game. But regarding the history of the developer, they are arleady working on the DLCs and don't care about all the bugs. This game should have been postponed until maybe early next year, because this is just a early beta.

We have had the most horrific decade of licensed racing games. Not one good motorcycle racing game dirt or street , not one good nascar game , nothing. It just makes no sense.
DO NOT BUY: Worst A.I of any racing game ever. They screwed up driving in circles. It has zero recognition of your movements and you'll spend every lap avoiding the stupid A.I because they will spin you out and keep driving like dumb bots. The sound quality is cheap like it was slapped together in garage band. You can easily notice the end of the sound file cutting in and out when you push the acceleration. The performance is glitchy at best. The frame rate is awful, and cars handle piss poor with no real modification. The Assists for driving completely take over the vehicle the stronger the setting. So your options become CPU controlled or slippery every time you accelerate. 2/10. Do not buy, and shame on you Gaming Bolt for misleading people. If you have a ps4/5 get Turismo instead and forget this exists. Pure Dogshyt
Got this last weekend but only been able to try it tonight. Absolute dog turd. That's not me being over dramatic, some of it is ok, but as a whole, it sucks. Cars don't slow down enough, suddenly veers off on the straights, no car set up prior to racing, even on easy level you get left behind, menus are too confusing and half the buttons don't work. Now I'm glad i got NASCAR heat 5 instead. Between the spotter yapping his jaws every 2 seconds, that guy starring at you thru the driver's side waiting for the ipad... or whatever pad it is, and that useless suggested path line while in a race would drive me insane. In heat 5 that line is there but only during practice, it's not needed in a race since you can't possibly follow it in a race, it's distracting. Then there's those glitches heat 5 doesn't have. Graphics might not be as good in heat 5 but who's paying attention to eye candy in a race?... no one. Yeah, I'm by gonna admire scenery while concentrating in a race... 🙄... not.
I started playing it this morning,a Nd unfortunately it’s unplayable, I haven’t been able to drive yet , it just keeps glitching
Dude, you don’t know your stuff, there’s only 3 manufactures in the IN NASCAR IRL
Graphics are the only thing that's better. The steering assist destroys the game (undrivable). There is no wheels but one supported so my setup is a waste. You don't even get a full lap to qualify. Online there is no lobbies and you have to vote on the track that are randomly chosen for you to choose from. It's a nightmare, you have no control of the game except the mode you choose to play. Cars aren't held together when starting the race, so the leader can take off while the rest are banging in to each other and the race is over before it starts. Heat 5 driving was way better. I've barely played it and I'm already considering going for my money back. I know there's gonna be things that need fixed but this is crazy. Not to mention, crashes are ridiculous, 20 to 30 car pileups, and no cautions ever come out, and no stages. Maybe it should be nascar 21 demolition!
So should I buy this or heat 5? Do people play these games online multiplayer?
Give it back to ea sports they knew how to make a game
It seems insane to ask $60 for a game like this in 2022. Imo it seems like a "Nascar mode" could just be added to something like Forza Horizon 4/5 and be just as good as this if not better. Nascar 21 Ignition is the same price as Forza Horizon 5. A huge racing game with tons to do. I guess I could understand having a stand-alone Nascar game if it had some hardcore simulation stuff in it. But as it stands this seems like it could just be a mode in Forza.

This game is an absolute abomination! A disgrace! It makes "No Man's Sky's" launch look like a smashing success!
Sports game developers have gotten so lazy. It's sad that sports games from the early 2000s are better than any sports title released today. I mean just look at how bad Madden is now. Also, how is it possible that NASCAR Heat seems like the better option right now? And those games were only 40 damn dollars. There is so much wrong with this game and it is missing basic shit that a racing "simulator" is supposed to have.
Just pure laziness on the devs part.

@@JIMvc2 Hell no, they won't get a penny from me until I see results.
@@JIMvc2 I have the game, and it is dreadful. It is more or less unplayable.
been driving racing sims for over 15 years. This game falls massively short.
is this game better than heat 5 ? opinions ?
A fitting review for the game.
$60 for that? No thanks.
Just saw the wheel compatible list and only one wheel is compatible lmao
I got a copy brand new at Walmart for 5 dollars lol
This guy has no fucking clue what he’s saying. This game is atrocious, and we all know it. Almost unplayable for most people, it only works with a few wheels, and don’t even think about using a controller. From pit road being a broken mess to the spotter going full Eminem at plate tracks to the clusterfucks at Bristol, this game is a buggy mess. Hey, at least it looks and sounds beautiful compared to the Heat games and has a great paint booth.
5/10
This was laughably bad... did you guys not have anybody on staff who knew even a little about NASCAR? Calling the "spotter" a "crew chief" or complaining about "only 3 manufacturers" while showing gameplay of someone struggling at all times.
Let me give a more honest review from someone who has knowledge of the sport.
I played this on PC and it's shockingly bad compared to last year's offering. The previous NASCAR game had multiple series you could participate in, and a thorough career mode that let you rise from dirt track machines all the way up to a cup car. Ignition just features cup cars and the only choice in your career is how hard you want it to be: picking a bigger team like Hendrick Motorsports means you better be placing high consistently, while picking an unknown like Beard Motorsports means logging laps is good enough.
The game's graphics menu was, for some reason, hidden on the datapad in the actual race mode, not in the normal options menu. Also constantly having to start in my car, look at my crew chief, then go to track or skip session, was just tiresome. On track, the spotter hardly shuts up, repeating the same comments over and over. Also, you seem to be able to cheat pretty easily. I suck at driving the road courses but I finished +6 seconds on poll at Daytona because I just didn't take some corners, opting to stay on the banked speedway part. No black flag, no negation of time.
This was clearly rushed together to get a release out for this year, it's broken and poorly polished with hardly any content.
My boyfriend mentioned something about this game before I wanted to buy it for him (the champions edition specifically) but as I looked into it the reviews just kept getting worse and worse- what's another good racing game I could buy for him? im not entirely sure what all he has but if it's like top tier must have typa game I could look into whether he already own it or not. He plays PS4 please help😭‼️
Check out Nascar heat 5
that voice can drive someone crazy
The one series I wish EA was in charge of nascar
Why can't we have a Nascar game that goes into a DEEP dive? Yeah this game looks fabulous... Everything else just wasn't worth $60. All other sporting games has ratings for players. No crew is equal in Nascar so why not have different tire changers, crew chiefs and engineers? I want to eventually own my own team, then be able to grow that team to a multi car team that I can hire drivers. Have young drivers coming up through the ranks and add silly season. If all other sporting games can have simulated young talent coming up why not Nascar? I understand this was going to be a base game, unfortunately I don't believe Ignition plans on adding team ownership. I do hope they fix the annoying bugs soon but this game won't be played much. VERY disappointing....
I wanna slap that guy who keeps saying "3 wide".
Should I buy this or get my racing/ driving fix with forza h 5 on gamepass..... wait, did I actually ask that question? :)
what a shame, i really hoped the nascar games were back on the rise with a new engine and team working on it.
This game was absolutely terrible. Better off sticking with your Nascar heat 5
So many disappointing things in this game. The game is barebones looks more arcade than a simulation racing game.
One of the most disappointing things is that there is no season mode. would have been nice to start a season with your favorite driver.
Career mode which i personally don’t care about i never really ever played career mode in past nascar games but the fact that you can’t create your own team, and choose your own car is real dumb. Maybe i don’t want to drive for Stewart Hass in Cole Custer’s car. i want to race in my own car. If i wanted to drive in his car i would have chose him in the race now mode.
No rearview mirror no caution replays was also a big disappointment with this game.
the Damage model or crash physics are horrible and unrealistic when you compare this to older nascar thunder games or EA sports racing game called GRID would have been better if they had parts tearing off the car during an impact, and no DNFS like no matter how much your wrecked your car you couldn’t retire and just the fact that your damaged car had a loose hood that still remained attached to the car no matter how much you wrecked. Also no side damage,no black donut rings around the door panels,no engine damage or fire either like in old nascar games. Really disappointing and embarrassing to make a new Gen nascar game for new gen systems yet the graphics gameplay are like playing an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 game.
It’s just like how do you make a nascar game good tho. My guess would be a 2005 chase for the cup model… but idk
I'm crossing my fingers that I will be wowed tomorrow.
The early access was 12GB. The whole game is going to be 25GB. I have no doubt they were given a beta and we’re going to be wowed with how good the game actually is.
@@jacman1174 The one thing that I don't understand is "why." Why would they send something like that out so close to release? Why not just send out the complete game🤔🤔
@@heatherphil1227 no clue. Maybe it wasn’t a demo and just a very buggy version but doubling the GB count seems unlikely to me for just bug fixes or Wtv it was going to be
@@jacman1174 i just played it on series X. Its bad dude
Now bring out the store arcade version and put it online only .
You’re never going to get the experience you’re looking for unless you run iRacing. It’s just the way it is. Even if you run iRacing just for the AI portion it’s totally worth it.
Nah nr2003 is better given the price point of free.
Omg enough with this Iracing shit.....we know....u love Iracing. Your lunch lady doesn't need to hear it every day.
Can't race against ai, isn't on consoles and is way too sweaty for most ppl that just want a casual experience
@@BoleDaPole actually there is ai
@@BoleDaPole This is the problem. Most should not play a nascar car game then. Most should play a arcade style game. The problem is, just like in everything. Greed.
There should be 2 games. A true sim to replace nr2003 and also an arcade game for the casual person. I would be willing to bet the true sim would out sell the arcade game. But what you have is, They try and build 2 in one. And you get a big pile of crap that isnt a true arcade nor a true sim.
Is there a way to tell tire wear and fuel stats like other games
Someone should take Nascar 2003, somehow port it on unreal engine 5, add ambient sound (man was it dead silent apart the spotter and cars) and we would all be happy
