I especially love going to the parks with my daughter during the fall (even though I go with her all the time, not just fall). Something about the crisp autumn air and the golden leaves make everything so much more magical. I recently found a little slide at our local park that if I just lie at the bottom of it, I can look up into the tree tops and be mesmerized by the leaves whispering secrets to each other when a breeze greets them. So lovely and relaxing. I love having a child in my life who is so captivated by everything. It gives me a whole new appreciation for the small things in life.

Every other Setember/October I visit the UK. Mainly to attend the Jane Austen Festival but during that time, this California dweller loves seeing the hedgerows and gardens full of rosehips! Skinny ones, fat onion doom shaped, Brick red to ruby and orange-red to a plumy red to a lipstick red. I want to collect samples but I can't bring them home with me. So, I sketch them. Each time a go I fall in love with England in the early fall. So serene and calm. Yes, I am a visitor and not living the day-to-day but it still wonderful to me. I was raised in the desert and now live in a coastal norther California area. There are seasons but they are not as defined as back east in the US. But I know when it shifts from one to the next. Autumn is still my favorite.
My fav oct.(anytime) activity : sit out on my balcony under the stars/ sky and sip hot water ; its super quiet, surreal and brings so many thoughts for writing

Love to see the Autumn activities! How amazing the varieties of fungi !! I enjoy them as food as well as decor..of course not the edible version however the ones made of felt or wood or even glass they are a perfect addition to this cozy season! The soup looked Devine also a favorite part of the season making soups and stews! Foraging and creating with berries leaves feathers is my favorite pastime which started as a child though the pieces have developed into more than a collage the concept and connection to Autumn remains the same! October is also my favorite month! Though I was born in Winter I was raised most definitely in an October which my heart will always be most connected!🍁🕯️🍂🌿🍄🟫🍄

We've had a few sunny days (i live in the Netherlands) here, makes me so happy! For the first time with my wintercoat, shawl and mittens on my bike to work at 7.30 in the morning and 4°C. The sun was shining, so amazing! Today the sky has a lot of blue in it and the tree with orange leafs makes it like autumn 🍂🍁🌿 We just came back from a bike ride, also love to walk in an autumn forest. Good morning Daria! Another lovely video. I have pictures on my phone of mushrooms I’ve found. 😅 We had a few foggy early mornings this week. Although I was heading to work, it was still enjoyable. I feel like my body says it’s time to start storing up for winter, and like you, I have more of a desire to cook now than in the summer. I’ve written down your apple cake recipe and I will add this soup as well. Looks wonderful! I love waking in the woods especially this time of year. Our local Headwaters hold a lantern walk the first weekend in November. They give out lanterns and guide you on the trails in the early evening. So magical! Have a lovely day. 🧡🎃☕️🍎

It consists of butternut squash, a couple of carrots, a couple of apples, ginger, garlic, chicken stock, spices of turmeric, cinnamon, and a little nutmeg. It is absolutely decadent and delightful during illness and throughout the cold months. I like to parrot with a rotisserie baked whole chicken or one seasoned with fresh herbs and an arugula salad✨

I make a yummy butternut squash soup as well! It consists of butternut squash, a couple of carrots, a couple of apples, ginger, garlic, chicken stock, spices of turmeric, cinnamon, and a little nutmeg. It is absolutely decadent and delightful during illness and throughout the cold months. I like to parrot with a rotisserie baked whole chicken or one seasoned with fresh herbs and an arugula salad✨

Me living in the north of Sweden thinking ... "But dawn will be at like 9 am soon" and in November it's more like 10:30...
Many people in Sweden wake up around 6-7am and enjoy (or not) the darkness and the morning frost in the air...
