It's a short fan webcomic by free-energy03. I found it on Deviantart. Basically, it's taking place during Shippuden when Sasuke is still training with Orochimaru. The Akatsuki has located Orochimaru and sends Itachi to eliminate him. But Orochimaru is warned by Kabuto (still in Sasori's service) and prepares a trap to temporarely deactivate the sharigan and take over Itachi's body. The webcomic wasn't finished, but it's clear Itachi will mope the floor with Orochimaru who will still manage to escape.

I think Obito was genuinely scared of having to deal with a healthy Itachi. Even while sick and planning to die, Obito was wary enough of Itachi that he figured it'd be a better idea to just let him die to Sasuke and continue his plans after.
It's likely that Obito was still stronger than Itachi, but he clearly worried that Itachi had legitimate ways to kill him and wanted to steer clear of that.
If Konan was able to force him to Izanagi himself to survive I find it hard to believe that Itachi couldn't, and unlike Konan, Itachi knew about the existence of Izanagi and would've planned for it.
obito is strong because of his evil plans that involved the ten tails revival. Obito without the Ten tails would be mid/high mid diffed by itachi as Itachi's abilities combined with his brains would be too hard to deal with. Even if we consider obito to be stronger, Itachi has high chances he outsmarts obito. Even konan outsmarted him. Izanagi saved him, and itachi possess that too.

@@Potato_Quality7 This is a fair point. In Itachi's case though I imagine he is leagues ahead of Konan in terms of strength and even intelligence; he's one of the smartest characters in the series. He'd probably only need a fraction of that time to plan against Obito and he also has many more options available to him, too. This is probably why Obito was afraid or at the very least concerned about facing him. Of all the people I'd expect to asspull some ridiculous combat shenanigans aside from Naruto, himself, it's Itachi.

Obito didn't "run hands" with Minato. He managed to not die for like 20sec due entirely to his phasing ability--which Minato completely outsmarted--and then teleported away.

What makes you think Fugaku could control a tailed beast...and NOT Itachi? Even Sasuke, at the beginning of Shippuden, displays ability to control Kurama in Naruto's mindscape.
Yes, Obito did the heavy lifting but that wasn't for a lack of ability. Shisui was THE STRONGEST Uchiha in the clan [in Konoha--not counting Obito and Madara] and Itachi was right behind him. Fugaku has none of Itachi's accomplishments or accolades. Not to say he was trash but not trash and stronger than Itachi ought to not be synonymous lol.
To that end, no, I don't believe Obito was scared of Itachi either but he did state that he was cautious around him.

1.itachi was a powerful shinobi and their goal was to capture bijuu so why make him their enemy, him helping would benefit them.
2.Maybe not when he join them but as time did pass, itachi knew ton abt the akatsuki, since he was a spy for konoha, if they had dared attacking the leaf while he was alive, he would had spill everything and they would be fucked hunted by every nation in every corner.....

My only issue is "Easily defeated edo Nagato" it literally took Kcm Naruto, Killer Bee, and Edo Itachi with the totsuka blade, which is arguably the only sealing jutsu that could actually seal Nagato

This whole "oh borrowed power" nonsense argument completely misses the point of the anime, arguing who "worked harder" as if that was ever the point.
The show is about philosophy. Naruto wins, because of his ability to foster friendships and build alliances. That ultimate strength comes from unity, not selfishness.
Sasuke represents the isolationist, the selfish self-sacrificing individual who will use others for their own gain. While Naruto is the one who will forgive his enemies, and make friends out of them, and reach mutual ground.
Same with how Naruto beats Gaara, because Gaara's the "mirror" of him if he went into a darker path instead. He redeems Gaara, and saves him from his darkness. That's why he wins that fight, not because his power level is higher.
Same with how Neji loses to Naruto: Neji had an inherent contradiction in his philosophy. Neji said that people are born a certain way, there's no getting around that, but if that were the case Neji would not be "the genius", as his "born status" would not allow for that. Naruto beating him proved that "even a loser like Naruto" was more than Neji would give him credit for.
Those fights are so much better than they are given credit for simply cause people screech "borrowed power". It's ALL borrowed power. Itachi's sharingan is literally a borrowed power as well. All the techniques and the passing of knowledge is ALSO borrowed power.
Guy's dad never graduated past genin, but he devised a technique so powerful that simple Taijutsu almost killed Madara. The only one to almost beat him was Guy. All because of his dad's efforts. It's similar to technology, previous scientists and inventors build groundwork for the next one to iterate on, etc. We're all part of a long chain of humanity.
He is my favorite character in Naruto. Outstanding. He played villain and hero at the same time. He chose the village over his own clan.

The entire story is about shinobi either learning to give for others, or else being the ones who taught others how to give. Itachi is a glittering example of this, and yet he stands apart in his genius and what he had to do, or rather thought he had to do, to protect Sasuke. In the end, the only person who had no concept of caring for others was Kaguya/Zetsu, and they were the only and I mean only unredeemed characters in the show. And then there is how lonely Itachi was. In some ways, he had it worse than Naruto even. I think that makes him a highly relatable character.

Naruto, DBZ, and a lot of the other classics have awesome fights and powerful characters, but I think the old classics stand apart because we can find common ground with the chracters. Itachi of course stands alone with his abilities, but the things he suffered, in particular his loneliness, are extremely relatable. And that includes weirdos.

Not at all what happened. He'd explicitly told Sasuke how to attain the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan in the hopes that Sasuke would take his eyes... which he did, but not until after Naruto and Sasuke ran into each other again when Danzo died. An actual mistake on Itachi's part since it meant the delayed genjutsu he'd implanted in Naruto didn't activate because Sasuke was still using his own eyes by this point.
It working on Itachi's Edo Tensei was a happy accident, the command of "defend Konoha" that was meant to override Sasuke's entire revenge arc just so happening to cancel out the Edo Tensei technique's control over Itachi's mind.
But no one is talking about the dirt itachi wanted to do to Sasuke, that's like turning him into a puppet.
What happens when Sasuke breaks that genjutsu? He will destroy konoha because while under the genjutsu they must have trusted him.

well there wasnt much to be blown since that wasnt what he did. he put shisui eye in naruto cause he expected sasuke to transplant his eyes after his manipulation during their fight. when that happen if sasuke were to attack hidden village they basically would have no way of stopping him so hi gave them the way setting shisui eye to show up and to activate "protect konoha" order the moment that shisui eye detects mangekyo activation in itachi eye in close proximity. the fact that he used that was just happy accident. if kabuto wasnt trigger happy and didnt try to get naruto and bee itachi wou;d have no way of overriding the edo tensei and most likely would solo win the war for kabuto.

I believe that obito was scared of him or atleast the animators thought so cause in every interaction or relation to itachi that obito had he was like ya naah itachi will take me out. In the movie he straight up dipped when itacg was like ya lets see how transparent you really are.
If he was really afraid of Itachi he would have teamed up with Kisame and Nagato told him that he is a traitor and there is no way he can defeat all 3 of them.
The real reason I think is that even in Akatsuki he was not truly a bad guy otherwise he would have left Konan on the ocean instead of that place where she is. One more thing when Obito killed Itachi's team he put everyone under Genjutsu but Itachi resisted it so he might have think of using him in the near future, He can easily kill him before Uchiha massacre but he didn't instead of that he make him join the Akatsuki.

Itachi is the true Hero. The whole story lived off of him.
In my opinion Itachi is one of the most Unique, Authentic and Influential characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making Itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just any ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. Itachi is very unique and authentic, especially in the factor of facing various encounters approach, his unpredictability in his way of fighting style approach it's his key factor in all of his encounters. Being blind or nearly blind has never slowed him down (especially when he's pretty much serious, but that's the point, he has never go all out against anyone during the series.) Itachi it's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. (at least that's what we were shown in the anime by the creator Masashi Kishimoto). Moral of the story, never underestimate Itachi. He did more sick then most healthy ninjas do in their entire life. In my opinion No One should underestimate such an unpredictable Shinobi like Itachi, even Madara (I won't say that Itachi can beat him, but at least he will be pretty much able to put a decent fight that Madara will also be impressed in my opinion). Also how can some of you guys even consider that Totsuka Blade it's slow when no such speed feat has been shown through the Shippuden that state it that it is slow? All of you are assuming it to be slow it may not be the case... Its not that the sword is unavoidable but it clearly has a very long range and is a very long blade. If you look at the manga, Naruto, Bee and Itachi are all relatively small from Nagato's point of view, and you can see the Totsuka Blade extending all the way from Itachi, piercing through Nagato, and still managing to nearly pop out toward the reader out of the page. I would say its fast because Kabuto coudldn't even react to it, and its not like Nagato was completely immobile to the point that he couldn't sidestep the blade. Also, Kabuto controlling people from far away is never stated to inhibit the Edos' reaction speed in any way. Being controlled by someone thousands of miles away didn't stop the Third Raikage from dodging KCM Naruto's Rasenshuriken. And as for Orochimaru, the sword struck him in between syllables of a word during his speech. I think that that is pretty fast. Pair the Totuska Blade with a good feint and its lethal because its ethereal, meaning it can pierce through any object. If the sword didn't live up to its reputation then Orochimaru wouldn't seek it out. People need to stop downplaying Itachi and denying the very clear speed feats of Totsuka. There is no room for interpretations here. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️ 🤷♂️ Here are the things that make Itachi so formidable. Tsukuyomi - A genjutsu so powerful that you literally can't escape it unless you have the same blood as Itachi, as stated by Itachi himself and proven later by Sasuke, or you're a jinchuriki. Jinchuriki are supposed to be immune to genjutsu but it hasn't been proven, but when Bee was fighting Edo Nagato and Itachi with Naruto, he said to watch out for Tsukuyomi explicitly. Literally 99% of all opponents fighting Itachi have no way of stopping Tsukuyomi. You could have the power to split the planet in half and it wouldn't matter. (Want to know why? - Kakashi pretty much state it in the actual anime and manga that Tsukuyomi it's such a dangerous Genjutsu Technique because it happen in a instant, even if you realize that you are trapped in the Tsukuyomi, it will be too late, because Itachi could approach you during that time in the real world (or he can use an Explosive Clone to approach you without you even realizing it in time and he can pretty much finish you before you can even realize, - 72 hours in Tsukuyomi realm means 1 second or a couple of seconds in the real world. Tsukuyomi can't be broken, when used to it's fullest.) The Sword of Totsuka and Yata Mirror - The Susanoo itself is a near invincible defense but these two weapons take it to the next step. The Sword of Totsuka can seal "anything" if it even touches it. It's completely OP. It's hard to fight a guy that can seal you away if his sword even touches you. The Yata Mirror is even a bigger deal in my opinion. It doesn't block attacks, it's "negates" them. You could throw an Amaterasu covered Bijuu bomb at Itachi and the Yata mirror will negate it, making it so the Susanoo doesn't even need to take a blow. You could punch the Yata mirror and the force will completely be negated. His biggest strength of all: tactical intelligence - Itachi always outsmarts and plans for everything because the plot demands it. You're physically strong? Itachi is already 2 steps ahead of you knowing exactly what to do. You're extremely fast? Again, 2 steps. You're going to try and outlast Itachi in a fight? Good luck. To add to this, some of the 3 most powerful techniques in the verse are due to his intelligence and planning ability; Izanami, Izanagi, and Kotoamatsukami. Izanami - A forbbiden genjutsu technique that allows you to alter someone's destiny. Impossible to break out of even if you know you're in a genjutsu without complying with the users set destiny for you. Even someone like Bee, a perfect Jinchuriki, can't escape Izanami unless he does what Itachi wants him to. Izanagi - You somehow gained an advantage over Itachi? He makes it so that advantage never happened. Kotoamatsukami - Though Shisui's technique, Itachi has his eye which effectively makes it his weapon. A genjutsu so powerful that the person it's cast on doesn't even know they're under a genjutsu. Like the Tsukuyomi, completely OP. To add to all of this, Itachi is pretty good at hand to hand combat(his Taijutsu it's exceptional and underrated) is great with shuriken, is extremely fast, is great with regular fire techniques, is slippery and unpredictable, and has the extremely dangerous and fast Genjutsu style of fighting approach that can caught you off guard almost at any time. With all of these things considered you've got one dangerous ninja. Lastly but not least Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. When Itachi Uchiha awakened his Susano'o, he was seen wielding legendary weapons of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The former allowed Itachi to seal anyone he pierced in a world of genjutsu forever, while the latter gave him the ability to deflect any and all attacks thrown towards him, regardless of whether they were physical or spiritual in nature. According to Zetsu (who was around since the period of Kaguya time era until the present of Naruto) he state it in the anime and also in the manga that these weapons, when combined with his Susano'o, made Itachi Invincible. This is why Kishimoto basically had to give him a handicap: Naruto AIDS. 🤷🏻♂️ ☯️

Honestly, Itachi can burn Jiraiya with amaterasu during their 1st encounter, and Jiraiya can't counter it since he never saw or expect amaterasu before, plus he need time & preparation to use sage mode. As for Tsukuyomi, again Jiraiya has no counter against it. It's not a normal genjutsu that can be dispelled with usual way. Naruto was able to bait Sasuke with it and the Raikage even side stepped Sasuke’s Amaterasu. You have to remember that Itachi was being controlled and not even at full power. That fight would have gone completely different if Itachi had control. Yeah I disagree with a LOT of this scaling.
1. I only think Itachi’s sickness nerfs his stamina, not overall power, as we see any time his sickness comes up in the manga it just shows him fatiguing fast, whereas when he’s not sick like as an Edo, he can spam his MS abilities without any problems.
2. Book of Daylight says Itachi is stronger than his Jonin Teacher, but Danzo and Hiruzen state Itachi’s teacher is pretty weak for a Jonin, and Kakashi shouldn’t even be in question here at least, as he’s not a Jonin, he’s a Anbu Captian. So where 11 year old Itachi scales to the Kage Level Kakashi, is unknown during this book.
3. I don’t think Edo Itachi scales to Full Power KCM1 Naruto, as Naruto just prior to this encountered launched 14 Shadow Clones. Shadow Clones as stated by Kakashi nerf the caster, as he states you use up your chakra to put into the Clones. And Naruto himself isn’t even trying to defeat Itachi, but get info out of him.
4. Edo Nagato is another debate, that I don’t care for getting into right now.
5. EMS Sasuke has no real scaling at this point, besides being stated to be equal to Itachi during the fight against Kabuto. But we know EMS Sasuke got stronger, as not only does he get much better scaling and statements that flat out say he’s above Itachi, but his hatred also begins to grow after their conversation, and we know hatred amps Sasuke. So all this means is that Itachi should be above MS Sasuke, and we also know that Doujutsu take time to mature to come to it’s true power, which backs that Itachi doesn’t scale to full power EMS Sasuke

This is in chapter 646. And we see both Edo Hashirama and Edo Tobirama be drained of chakra. The difference between Edos and living beings is that when a human runs out of chakra they die, but when an Edo does they just recover it.

Fact: itachi was diagnosed with lung cancer. Kishimoto also put few symptoms to indirectly tell the fans. Few of them includes battle fatigue that itachi cant last long when fighting. For example, during a fight with asuma, kurenai and kakashi. Also,, haemoptysis that we can clearly see his fight with sasuke. He also suffered from non stop coughing and shortness of breath. All this symptomps was shown during his battles
And yet Itachi said, “if we fight him, we’ll both die. Even if there were more of us, the results would be the same”

If Itachi was healthy, actually tried to get the EMS then he would have been able to fully read the Uchiha tablet stone. Due to his intellect he would have easily been able to obtain the Rinnegan.

Itachi is smart, he would've definitely used Tsukiyomi on Nagato if it actually worked. And Itachi stated himself you need the same ocular power to counter Tsukiyomi. Nagato has a stronger ocular power and the rinnegan is the evolution of the sharingan, so no Tsukiyomi.
Itachi only sealed Nagato cause Nagato was off guard and having a conversation with Naruto. Totsuka blade worked on Nagato, but that doesn't make him stronger. If Rinnegan Obito let Itachi hit him with Totsuka blade, it would obviously work, even though rinnegan Obito is stronger than any version of Itachi. It's a sealing jutsu.

He understood the will of fire better than anyone, or except Shisui and Hashirama. Suffered for it, died of disease... and was most powerful because of it.
Itachi is strong because he knows his own weakness. A few examples:
- He knows the Sharingan's visual prowess can only go so far, so he trained to weave signs faster than the Sharingan can track it (possibly as a precaution to fight Kakashi in case he ever has to). On cases when he can't weave signs fast enough, he resorts to sign shortening, a high-level technique that cuts the amount of signs you need to activate a Jutsu. He's been shown to shorten techniques that require 5-7 signs with both hands down to just 1 sign with one hand.
- He knows the ins and outs of Genjutsu as a whole, to the point where he is almost completely immune to it. The only time he was shown to be caught in one is when the Genjutsu itself is an audio cue amplified by Sage Technique, and even then he managed to get himself (and Sasuke) out by re-hypnotizing himself.
