i have a hook welded on the Top of the bucketvat each corner and one in the middle. I carry my my chain with grabhooks always ready and wrapped around the 3 hooks.
I welded D-rings on top of bucket instead of weld on grab hooks. If your application works for you...Good Job. Be SAFE, and easy on your equipment...they are not skidders. I bet your backhoe would have pulled that snag down. I have same set-up...backhoe is strong! Thanks for sharing your video.
It's now been few years on the l3301 & 670 hours later, still runs good (knock on wood).. i religiously grease it..it does need a good washing... welding the d rings on is a good idea! I would have done that but didn't have electricity at that time...i used the d-rings on the bucket for about 1 year & don't think I've used them since, they never failed or bent anything...I upgraded to some pallet forks because I consistently am moving logs & brush piles around, & i now use a different grading bucket instead of the stock one.. In the future I want to get a bigger tractor, possibly the 6060 model, & a small excavator would be nice if I hit the lottery.. the 3301 has really helped tremendously clearing the land I'm on, in that video u watched I was just starting a few years ago, now I have a well drilled & some water lines in, electricity, a driveway, I got a foundation poured for a building & all the block is sitting here waiting for springtime, & I been milling all my lumber, I got alot going on to say the least & it's just me, no help, but I have not gave up yet lol
Looks good from here. If a larger project requires more hefty hardware just ramp up to what you need. We all do that. Sometimes after we break something. 🤣👍
I don’t think your doing things wrong but, please consider a backing plate on the opposite side of the bucket. It will strengthen the attachment and “lessen” the possibility of the bolt pulling through. The bucket really wasn’t designed to be pulled upon and that little added reinforcement could save a bent up bucket or further damage.
Yes the d rings work amazingly better than a hook welded in place! I use them all the time & the movement of every angle has helped in a number of situations!! Stay tuned for updates on me using the d rings!
I see one good thing is when you get too much force on them hopefully bolts will sheer off instead of breaking that light weight built bucket. The weld on version of those I use are 10klb breaking strength and that bucket isn’t made for what your doing but will work fine as long as you be careful about how you do it. Lol. I’ve repaired many bucket like that for people who don’t use some common since. Find a used skidsteer bucket there a lot tougher and there not expensive either
Always better to bolt or industrial rivet, with a back plate. For a non- welder on this project his job was first rate. Look around bridges, truck frames etc. are bolted and and or riveted
don't pay attention to all the a holes out here they have no life other than to hack on people about something they no nothing about my saying was always if it iWork's its right

That ring on the end of the chain isn't meant for tri axle loading.
We just welded a single log chain hook on both the 3301 and 3130. Works wonders
