I guess living in a dorm with other people can be seen as a trade-off. It is a unique opportunity to actually interact with another culture on a personal, daily basis. However, it can be extremely exhausting both mentally and physically, as rest is really important. I think it is really cool that you opted to go for shared dorms and I hope your body can survive! Great video, good luck.
very helpful and insightful for a Chinese philology student like me! Your videos are always great, I'm a big fan. I'll make sure to share your channel with my classmates(: with love from Poland!
May be the dorm you live in is an old building. I've never see a dorm without bathroom after graduating from my high school many years ago. But anyway, I believe those dorm will be update(Many schools in China are doing this.)
They start feeling better after a while, but I don’t think it’s good for my joints to sleep sideways on a hard surface. Nowadays i don’t mind sleeping on the chinese bed. I’ve gotten used to it.
Great video and I love how you are positive and trying to absorb as much from the situation. Im currently also studying in Germany and live with 2 other people in the same room and I was really sad at first but once you decide to look at the positive and learn from other peoples cultures it become a little better. How did you deal with the snoring tho? im a really light sleeper and I can never get used to the opera at night xD
Yeah it has been an experience 100% The snoring I got used to when I bought earplugs. They have to be the soft kind to not be uncomfortable at night. Also, you can try to outsleep the snoring dude if you can fall asleep before him. Sounds like you have a good experience in Germany as well. Btw are you an exchange student or full time student in Deutchland? Hope you have fun there! 😄
@@ArniJ. Yeah I gave earplugs a try but sadly im a side sleeper so the pressure is a little too much but you are right I always try to sleep before them but if I wake up in the middle its over xD. Im doing my masters at Munich and I have to work part time since the rent prices here are too much I pay 600 euros for the current place so total with my 2 roommates 2000 euros the waiting period for the dorms here is 3-5 semesters :))))))) Do you ever think about applying to the other dorm where you have your own room or do you like it here more
@BSwift8 I’m here only for a relatively short time. So I’ll be back in my accomodation in Helsinki after this semester is over. The prices there are super high. It’s so expensive nowadays. Hopefully you find a good and suitable solution so that you can at least get better sleep. It’s important to sleep well.
The thing that a lot of people here don’t think about when ”easily buying on taobao” is how much single use waste is created. I’m here only for one semester and buying a mattress would be silly for just a short time. It’s not that i’m sleeping on rocks, so I’m fine with not buying extra stuff because I can’t sleep like a princess. I think the fact that I’m living and studying in China is alredy proof that I’m not afraid to be a bit uncomfortable.
@@ArniJ. It's whatever you feel comfortable with. Only commented because I have faith in your content as this is a good video, it could take off quickly. With this many views and commenters you're clearly finding your algorithm. Also cause it seemed remarkable to me that as someone from the UK I could see a strangers personal info to so much detail when I live on the other side of the word. If you feel safe continue, I just don't want you to come into problems when you have success.
I think these through when I review the video before publishing. There is actually a ton of stuff that i’m not showing the camera but I agree that its something to be always careful of. I trust in the security of Shanghai and my last school day is tomorrow, so soon someone else is sleeping in my bed. Thanks for showing interest though, it’s quite rare nowadays. 👍
@@ArniJ. Unknown state is the most terrible, you do not know whether he will become a campus killer. One of the most famous campus killers in China, just because his roommates laughed at him for looking for prostitutes outside the school. He killed four people in the dormitory.

I agree. Thanks😄🔥
The way you just casually show the socks on the balcony 🤣🤣🤣and there is something super peaceful about using an office chair as a footrest outside 😭😭
It’s what i’ve gotten used to. This video would be different if I would’ve just moved in.

4people dorm is really common in China, even in International school.

我觉得上海多数时候不是污染,而是中国南部的气候本来就是多雾,要是去北部的话天气会晴朗很多,但是空气质量会比较差
Not gonna lie, I love these Chinese beds, my dad used to complain a lot about them too haha

i guess you can easily buy comfy bedding from Taobao, if the bed hurts so much.

Quick question : why you've chosen China over Finland!?
I'd definitely chose Finland over China
I didn’t stay in china. I think that’s the definition of not choosing china.
As a Hong Kong student, I live in the same room with the local mainland China student lol
Really? But you probably speak good mandarin.
@@ArniJ. yes haha
Moro, minä opiskelen Tampereen yliopistossa❤. Olen Shanghai lainen, puhun tosi vähän suomea.
Moro, hyvin se suomenkieli näyttää sujuvan😄🔥👍
oh god,,, praying for ur roommate's eardrums....
:D
bro be careful if you're gonna be staying there for long, you've exposed your entire specific location in this vid and people can be really weird
there arent a million people watching this, the chances of anyone ever stalking him cus of this video are practically 0
Yes, and shanghai is also super safe. There are security checks and cameras everywhere, including my school.

Perhaps don't put you mouth at the faucet of the water dispenser. Covid is in season. Better awareness protect you and your fellow students.
yaaa, same as my dorm in air force academy, solider of Fin 🫡
which building is this ?
How much does it cost to stay in a room for four people?
It was like 100-200€ a month or something i don’t remember exactly
@@ArniJ. thanks
Are you required to have covid vax for exchange program in China
Nah they had stopped all covid measures by the time i came here.
u shared with others??😮💨
Yes
You will find that your roommate will either become your lifelong friend or your lifelong enemy
There is a third option, they don’t become anything. These guys like to be by themselves and don’t really like socialising.
