5:12 That somebody is a museum staff member. They have the authority to permit specific audiences to enter, such as ethnic minorities from the western China, people with disabilities, guest invited by museum, etc. But foreigners are usually not included in that list. However, if the staff are willing, they may also let you in.
This video was at a slower pace and more simple imo, the next video is probably about 1000 subs if we keep getting subscribers at the same pace as usual. Hope you're excited!
This video brings me back the time I spent in SH, during 2018 - 2020. It really hits different like the breakfast and the payingment system haha. Hope to see you often here.
It's nice that your videos are a bit more slowpaced and more conversation-like, so we can hear more of your thoughts on Shanghai, Looking forward to hearing more! Really appreciate any tips and just general insight on things over there!
5:20 In the past few months, the officials at tourism sectors received a lot of complaints or comments from the internet saying that foreigners are not familiar with museum reservations, payment system, currency exchange, etc.in China, such that they don’t want to visit China. So they changed some rules for foreigners and Chinese nationals who are beyond some age limit and didn’t know how to use apps to make reservations. You are just within the privileged groups--foreigners and old Chinese citizens.
I really like your video. I used to be in Shanghai years ago. If you would like to see some real art and or other fancy modern art , West Bund in Xuhui District might be a good place to visit. You could find dozens of museum and modern art related studio there, and there is different riverside view there with people living in chill lifestyle. Hope you have good time in Shanghai!
Great video! Just one thing was not clear to me. You say your WeChat and Alipay are linked to a credit card. But since your Finnish credit/debit card does not work in China, I assume that you have a Chinese bank account opened and you use that card to link with these apps? If not, could you please tell how should a tourist set up these two apps the first time they visit China? ALSO, do these apps work with a non-Chinese mobile number or is it a must to get a Chinese SIM at the airport? Kiitti!!! 😄
Finnish credit cards work with alipay. At least I didn’t have to get a chinese bank account. I suggest getting a chinese mobile number because it could cost you something to get confirmation messages when you verify your phone on wechat. I guess you don’t have to buy a plan though if you have a good internet plan alredy.
@@ArniJ. Is there any benefit in connecting a Chinese mobile number to WeChat and Alipay instead of a Finnish number before getting to China? If the cost for confirmation SMSs is not an issue. What I am trying to know is, is it better to connect a Chinese phone number if one stays in China long term (1 year+).
I went to a good Indian restaurant last month in Shanghai, it is in putuo district called 咖喱小馆Curry Lounge, I see some Indian chefs in the kitchen busying, maybe someday you can try it. And enjoy your time in Shanghai!
If you use a credit card or Apple Pay, the seller usually needs to pay a 1-5% fee for the payment. However, WeChat Pay and Alipay are completely free. So they are more seller-friendly, and everyone prefers to use them in China since they reduce the cost of trading. Good for both seller and buyer.
Video was interesting! No offense, but I was a bit surprised to hear that some European folks can be so narrow-minded. Alibaba's IPO was actually one of the biggest in the US market (then the largest IPO in world history) and that was 10 years ago......
They’ve thought about that. It changes continuously so that you cannot use a screenshot or picture. Tried it once because I didn’t have a sim card. Didn’t work. That’s also negative side of WeChat pay that I didn’t talk about: you need Internet in order to pay.
The QRcode changes every 30 seconds or so. So making a static copy is useless. Even if someone manages to capture your code alive. They have to be a registered business to charge on your code. If that happens you will be able to sue them with evidence on your Alipay account. Also there are other security measures Such as if you are suddenly charged a huge amount from a foreign country the transaction halts and waits for your password or facial recogniton on your phone. All in all the system is very secure. For billions of transactions happen in China I never saw scam news.

Interesting. I’m very grateful for that somebody for letting me in, because I’ve visited the museum before but it was closed.

That’s what I try to convey with my filming style. Some videos do it better than others.

@abhinrsv no i think it doesn’t matter as long as you have a phone number that works. But dont take this as definitive advice.

Apple Pay is available in China, it’s just not that popular

yes
true Apple Pay still requires the seller to purchase an additional device while Alipay and we pay only needs a QR code printed on a piece of paper😂
@rosamondejiang4401 all though alipay also need internet connection, which apple pay doesn’t require.
I’ve never heard of this. I exatly pay the price that is listed.
Nice and informative video!
Glad you liked it!
0:55 We do have breakfast in China, but not the type of breakfast that you grew up eating with. It’s still breakfast.
The beginning is lit! Hahaha

Hey man, are there any differences between Shanghai and Taipei that you didn't expect at first? Love from Belgium
I’ll make a separate video about it later.
Even Helsinki has good Indian foods lol😂, you think if I open a Taiwanese food store in Finland would it work ?
Don’t know. If you start a restaurant I’ll make sure to pay a visit though😄

Please be careful with showing the QR code online. People can actually scan it and take your money.😂

Scanning the QR code requires your hand control to agree.
