    Fresh from the sea the variety is good they always seem to have the Bonito style tuna...n of course the baboy ...you should do a couple of market to table cooking show...nice cameo by Maricar n Anton on this informative video...do you notice if they have an abundance of fish (any kind) if the prices drop or do they always remain the same regardless of how much fish they have for sale

    I really like these kind of videos. Learning prices and seeing you interact with the vendors. Pork chops here are roughly 500 peso per kilo. All our cuts are priced differently in Canada.

    • @IslaPamilya

      Thanks! Not a big difference in pork price comparing the income i booth countries.
      Here a construction worker the skilled one earn 500 php / day so now count how many kg You can buy for Your dayly salary becouse they can have only 2kg not skilled worker only 1kg.

    • @stargategoku
      @stargategoku Рік тому

      @@jeffreysmith9834 true. Income is relative to the cost of living within the local residents who are earning local. I found sugar is much expensive than the Philippines thna in the UK. It's hard for local family living in minimum wage in the Philippines because the cost of living for them is expensive filipino should learn how to plant common vegetables and crops like potatoes, sweet potatoes or kamoteng kahoy. There are many youtube vloggers about how to setup urban Garden using empty bottles or containers

    hello Matt it's such another informative video for your viewers especially the foreign ones who might one day want to settle down too in siquijor, the prices are much cheaper of course than here in metro manila, I think food prices will always be much cheaper in the province than here in NCR but other basic things like appliances I think is much cheaper here, I don't know if there's a mall there maybe you can check also like in your next vlog and I'm also very happy again seeing Anton and his cute antics, and as always man stay safe and stay cool 😎 as you are until your next video peace ✌️

    They need to put the prices on the fish 🐠 so you know without asking. I love 🍣 salmon and will have to pay the higher price at the grocery store as I don’t think they sell it in the market. Correct me if I’m wrong please.😀

    • @IslaPamilya
      @IslaPamilya  2 роки тому

      They don't give prices because they can always raise them a bit for foreigners.
      I'm not sure, but the salmon is rather imported from the farm, so you can only buy it frozen. A great fish, but very unhealthy because it is farmed. I think the milkfish is also not very healthy and it comes from farming.

    I know fish was a fisherman most of my life and that selection of fish is what I would call S@#t 😮. The tuna was false albacore Bonita a lowest grade of tuna. All fish should be gutted before leaving the boat to market it spoils quick and no ice does not help. Most of those fish were what I would use for bait. The snapper and Mahi were the only quality fish there but the guts still in it is a question mark. For your information to help you in the future the gills should be bright red and eyes not a glassy look that how you can tell if it is fresh. Looking at that sqiud it was frozen and thawed out not fresh you have seen still squid while diving and I saw you eat it before. That market was not selling what I would call quality fresh fish. ❤

    • @IslaPamilya
      @IslaPamilya  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for your comment, fish with cloudy eyes I don't buy in the gills I also look into, I have fishermen friends. But it's good that you wrote it because people may not know how to check the fish.
      As a rule, everything they take out of the sea lands immediately in ice and so is delivered to the market where it is already lying on the counters. There are times when fish are not fresh so you have to be careful. And as for the quality it is always random depends on what the fishermen catch you can buy, sometimes there will be some mahi mahi or yellow fin tuna and sometimes flying fish or some small tuna.
