Clara Haskil represents the heights of pianism of the early Twentieth Century. She and her countryman, Dinu Lipatti were the embodiment of a musical sensibility which has vanished from classical music. They were pure, almost otherworldly. They became the music when they played.

I totally agree. Clara has allways be my 'guide' as a pianist. And Dinu has my love since my piano teacher introduced him when I was 5 years old.

@@sololipsist Thank you for the reference to Huangci. Her Scarlatti is indeed delightful. Haskil and Huangci can be compared on Kk 332. They are matched on tempo (about 3 minutes each) but differ in dynamics (Haskil's phrases are more varied) and touch (Huangci's staccato/legato contrasts are greater). Too bad the recording quality for Haskil is so poor.
      Huangci is here: ua-cam.com/video/b0soIkotkVE/v-deo.html

a wonderful tribute to un sung musical heroes and heroines
meaning Clara and Scrarlatti who composed these 550 works 300 years ago, yes 300 years ago and just now being recognized
I had the opportunity to take classical guitar lessons in Asturias
Spain at age 14 my instructor introduced me to Scarlatti and now
at age 68 I still love his music over and over again always
reinspires me now. Scarlatti had 7 children composer to the
Portugese court. He would be impressed with musical legacy.

@@zvezdinki7998 well, lets say you have music in your head or ears, silent still, then you sit down at a piano and you write it down in notes on a peace of paper, after many many years, the paper lying down in a drawyer is taken by someone who can read notes, has a piano and the skills to play it on the piano, moreover the pianist knows people who want to record it on an LP, after some time computers and the www is invented, implemented in every street with the creation of YT going along and at last, we, you and I, each of us seperately, are listening to the sounds written on a paper by a man who once had them silently in his head. And we share and enjoy the music 🌳.
