@theguitarczar We may be getting closer...The Line6 HD500 Amp models respond a lot like to tube amps to volume control and sound amazing with a tube compressor in front. The question should not be digital or tubes, but rather why not celebrate both?
Anyone that understands these things know that the fundamental tone has to be good for an od pedal to add good flavor. A line 6 spider is a digital emulator that's goal is to NOT have to have these type pedals....These are for adding flavor to your good tube amp. Maybe one day someone will come with some digital stuff that responds the same, I don't think it will. I think that the further from the original days we get, guitarists' will be fewer and fewr that even REMEMBER TUBES!
@DavePerry2012 While I haven't played through a Victoria amp yet, I'm in no way dissing tube amps...I love 'em. There's nothing like over-driving a low-watt amp, like a Fender Champ 600 and nothing comes close to a Marshall tube amp! I'm just saying that I like a good digital amp simulation as well. And, I think the Line 6 POD HD series is taking us closer to the point in the future when the human ear will be hard pressed to tell the difference between an emulation and the real thing.
@moucon well you'd be amazed how well the program responds to picking dynamics, it's certainly not like the shitty dyna amp feature on the roland cubes. anyway I'm not very prone to terms like feeling or soul, it only matters if it sounds to my liking and I don't care what others thin about it. Anyway I still appreciate good ol' tube amps, and if I feel that I need a little extra, I just plug amplitube into my tube amp and get the best of both worlds
Seems there is a discussion going on about digital modeling... well I honestly believe that digital is on it's way to catch up tube amps. I'm not talking about roland and line 6, but you guys should check out amplitube and come to your own conclusions:) PS: I've seen the PGS facebook page and they are using amplitube on Ipads:)
@xPsuedo i dont think he is. Overdrive is only technically overdrive through a tube amp as you are "overdriving" the tubes to give a sweet distortion. Most solid state amps and digital modelers cant be overdriven to the same extent, just distorted. :)
Ok- if a guitarist hasn't heard of a tube amp then I don't know if they are truly a guitarist sorry- just my opinion speaking, I only have 2 solid state amps and they never get used anymore.
Black Crowes! great job Andy, it's sound amazing!!
"Thorn in my pride," nice
"Whatever you do, don't tell anyone!" Long live the QOTSA. Lovepedal rules. They're made about 3 miles from my house.
Nice work with the Black Crowes...

In what way is the Electra Distortion "tweed-type"?!
@GuitarBlues3 thats just silly... nothing sounds good out of a line 6 :P

Nice attempt at QOTSA but almost all of these tunes have tones coming from an Fulltone Ultimate Octave... much closer.
