  • Welcome to Kline Academy, a place for inspiring Artists to follow their dreams & teaching them the skills to achieve them...
    Our online classes are now live! Head to kline-online.t... to sign up and receive personal instruction from our Kline Academy Master Artists! Or if you live in the Los Angeles Area learn about our Academy at klineacademy.com
    Kline Academy is an atelier experience... when you walk through our doors you will see easels spattered in colorful bits of paint, works of art from classical master copies, fine French Academy style drawings to contemporary abstracts. Large plaster casts of Roman busts for drawing fill the back studio, sky lights stream light down on a model stand draped in colorful fabric and the sweet smell of oil paint is in the air.
    I started Kline Academy in 2007 to give anyone who seeks a better art education an opportunity to learn these historic painting techniques brush stroke by brush stroke, the way I learned to paint from the master artists I was fortunate to study under. I understand an artist's frustration at having a great idea but not being able to execute it with polish and panache. My motto is that "your frustration ends at our front door." Our students come from a diverse background of careers, all ages and all skill levels from absolute beginner to skilled artists. The only requirement we have is the desire and the passion to make art. And I ensure that all will learn and grow because the teachers on our staff are people who I myself would want to study with, exceptional artists who are skilled at teaching and nurturing to their students.
    It is because of my vision to create a respectable art academy that is founded on classical foundations in art, a linage that has been passed down from master to student since the renaissance, that we have thrived. We are a place where people of any age and background can learn fundamentals of art making from classical realism to contemporary painting.
    Welcome to Kline Academy.

    last time I painted I had a closet full of oil painting tubes and I was like hell yeah let's paint lol, didn't use palette, didn't have brush, just smashed the whole tube out and painted with the tube itself lmao, yeah and on top of that I smoked bunch of weed, got so lit started to pain the wall at my friends crib, passed out and woke up to some epic artwork being edited lol. Good times, that's how art should be made xD

      @ Ed Ross If one has the time to be bothered, it is possible to wipe almost all the paint off the knife onto the palette so that very little goes on the paper towel but I would imagine that for the sake of time she was doing what was most expedient. The amount of paint she was "wasting" is trivial when you compare how much goes into an impasto style painting which is one of the reasons there are modeling mediums available.

      @ Nicholas Fanzo Glad you mentioned "permanent Alizarin crimson". It's interesting how many people still advocate using true Alizarin crimson when it's a known fugitive pigment.

      I think she mentioned the RGH company for the paint jars. You should check out their website. Also as far as the pallets go, you don’t need to spend too much on them, you can get a wooden one in the school supply store for around $3.00 or even less in some places and they’ll work just as well as any fancy pallet at the end of the day all you care about is how your painting turns out. Also that other guy that answered was hella rude and uncalled for.

  • @KpxUrz5745
    @KpxUrz5745 3 роки тому

    If anyone can paint as well as Velasquez (which they cannot), then use his limited palette if you like. Otherwise, I would suggest using any and every color one feels like. I have seen inordinate energies, research, and money devoted to attempting to simulate methods and materials of the Old Masters. But never once has anyone produced a painting on a par with the Old Masters. Therefore, I tend to feel these attempts are more about hubris than seeking edification and best methods. In this particular video, I see a lot of paint just wasted as the palette knife is overused and wiped again and again. Needless to say, some of us are not impressed by these demonstrations.

      a bit harsh, but some truth there

    • @KpxUrz5745
      @KpxUrz5745 2 роки тому

      @@dont-want-no-wrench Yes, I agree a tad harsh, but at least my eyes work. I suppose it is inevitable that way too many videos are created, especially on the same topics over and over again. A huge number of videos here have titles like "How to Paint Like (name any Old Master)", and in the end NONE of these videos achieve that or even try to. I would rather they just show details of the original paintings, and simply try to find the words to express how they are great. It takes a poet to express the ineffable!
