This week we hit a major delay in our home build due to snow, ice and extremely cold temperatures resulting in sub zero wind chill. Our number one priority is making sure our livestock are taken care of, getting lambs into the barn and ensuring that the components of our solar power system are staying warm. This is our life off-grid.

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and the buiness/work related side of our life can be found on our secondary channel "Josh and Erin- The After Show". Here you will see us renovating our Cafe, opening/operating the Cafe with goods from our farm, building/furnishing/running our short term rentals, finding/operating our other real estate investments and more.

Heyy guys❤, I follow you since 2 years and I love you so much, I HAVE AN ADVICE if you accept it; you can buy a good drone to check out your animals and you can use apple or google tags🏷️ to mark your cows because you have a problem with Dixter I think always 🎉❤ I wish you be happy always
❤😂
Are you guys okay ?
🏘️⛏️🦾👍❤️💜♥️💙💚👏🇫🇷
I figured you guys were busy. Jaunt off to mom and dad’s house to help with their backup power supply and then drive back and farm work. It never ends, but your family does it so well.
Every kid out there, deserves parents like you!! And animals.
What you see when the camera is on does not inform you of what happens when it's off.
Да , это так .
@@tylermcnally8232 And what is that supposed to mean. Sounds kinda cynical to me.
I thought Mama was looking at you all as if to say, “Where ya’ll going? You leaving me alone w these two?” So sweet to see your family all working together to keep all safe n warm.
Awww those newborns are so adorable! It’s freezing north of Chicago and those little ones would have frozen. You’re such good animal people! ❤
Ellie's excitement was predictable and really made me smile. She's geting so grown up and responsible, she loves having a job. Erin, you and Josh set great examples for the kids and provide admirable parenting. I have always been very impressed with your dedication and attention to the animals. You both are excellent caretakers. Leon is always such a character 😉 Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
I have a stray (not feral, though) very young mother cat who give me SIX kittens. I could see she was pregnant so made up a little cubby on the porch for her. I must have frightened her going in and out to my garden, though, because she started to hide them under the deck. My son hauled them out and I made up a nice bed in my large bathroom. I put the kittens in their new box and mother followed. You know how cats usually look a little mad or disgusted? This mother actually smiled at me as she snuggled down with her babies. A real "thank you" smile! I still get tears thinking about that. She lived in that room with them until they were adopted, and now she is an indoor/outdoor cat. She is a little skittish, but she loves me. I still get tears in my eyes remembering that smile of gratitude that she gave me. She knew she was safe.
It is an immense pleasure to see Ellie and her siblings so young being in contact with the animal nature of the countryside which brings the highest teachings to the individual himself in growing up to be an adult!! Wonderful in a whole full of life! ❤
Ellie and her lambs… 💕💕💕
I've been watching since the kids were very very young and was filming on iphone living in the camper and josh was going to work come home and bust out another shift on making the family dream come true. I still get excited when i see a new video. this family is amazing.
Agree
Me too.
Hope all is well. I miss your videos. Please be careful building so slippery. Love you all. 🙏🙏
Josh please don’t apologize for the infrastructure y’all have developed over years. It’s important to be self reliant and wholesome in our current society. Love your content. ❤
Carter is such a handsome and polite young man! You are just amazing parents raising a wonderful generation of children.
Fence holes are something of a never ending issue, especially when the animals enjoy a sense of adventure. That is one chore that you will get to enjoy as long as you own a farm.
Рад снова видеть счастливую семью .
Woo hoo !! Theres my people....
Your new little baby lamb has Pikachu ears. ❤
Your entire family is so sweet with one another and your animals. You are the type of people that every family should strive to be like.
What a charming family! They are my favorites by far to watch on UA-cam over the years. I just wish more people would be involved in producing and creation and not in politics. It would be a lot less destruction in the world.
Given how much you guys love and care for all your animals it's no wonder they all love you right back. Yup...been really cold, but looks like everyone is doing well. Thanks again for another great episode. Stay warm......
What an awesome way of life to raise your children. Simply awesome.
New babies and bad weather on the way but you all worked to prepare so that the lambs and moos are well fed and warm team work. It is great and it gets things done. Stay Warm until the next one be safe!
Thanks for posting this today. I needed it! I'm 70 yo but many of your posts remind of my grandparents 72 acre farm in Conn 100 years ago. Altho their 1880 house was already on the property, my grandfather was a carpenter and built all of the barns, woodshop, and other buildings needed to operate their dairy farm. Technologically they lived very different lives from you, but your family's spirit reminds me of their spirits and the good times our extended family had on their farm.
Where was your grandfather's farm in CT, my grandfather had a farm in Rocky Hill, CT
North Road in Cromwell, almost to the Rocky Hill line. Unfortunately the state highways took much of their farm for the intersections of the then new Rts. 9 and 91 in the 1970s. @@hounddog410amms
Hang in there guys!
My sister is STILL without power since Saturday night. It's crazy!!! The utility company came out and disconnected a downed wire that was laying across her car the last couple of days, but then they left and power still not restored for her and thousands of people in the area. They're working on six separate outages. Hang in there guys!
Yep Line men and women are real HEROS who work without regard for the weather. Bless them!
Glenn Campbell's "Witicha Linesman" is a classic.....
Awww the twin lambs are so darn cute 🐑🐑❤
Your family is so into each other,I love it.
New lambs are always adorable. What a fabulous experience for kids to grow up in those environs. They’ll have so much more appreciation for life & have better social interactions in society at large. I can remember “meinen Gross Onkel” in Germany teaching me to milk cows in my teen years. I was stationed there quite a few years & always went back to visit the farm & pub on my Uncles property. Memories!
🎉 Thanks for the video 📸 family 🎉. ....... JJ...😊
your lambs are so lucky to have you guys , that are so kind and thoughtful.
There's nothing like spring lamb on the table & mint sauce!.
Josh & Erin, I'm so thankful you found the babies in time and that their mom is so good with them. It's amazing what you've all accomplished together. You've built a beautiful successful homestead. I always enjoy watching your videos. Love and GOD bless you all.❤❤❤
Thank you .
🐺 LC .
The fact that y'all are off grid and self sustainable is the true American dream. This is my fav. youtube channel by far. In the down season where you can't build much, will you do a Q and A? I'm intrigued by your family dynamic and although worthwhile in the end, it must bring challenges as well. Every family, every marriage, has challenges and I was curious if you would be able to share some of those with all of us.
Ellie’s love and compassion for your animals is so sweet!!! How amazing that you have set up a life that also fosters her gift of caring for animals ❤❤❤
I think she was born to live this life 😊 Her constant smile, happiness and compassion just makes us melt
We just got to Snowshoe, WV today and it’s -21 degrees with the wind chill 🥶. Glad you guys are prepared and hope you stay warm!! Miss you guys and hope we can all get together some time soon! Love you all - Brandon
Erin and Josh, I love watching what you are doing every week but haven't seen you all for about 3 weeks. I hope everyone is ok and just away on holiday somewhere. Hope to see you all soon.
Something just hit me ,Do you realize that your lifetime and the family growing together and growing up is all on video, what a treasure to be able to look back on for generations to come..
Ellie is the sweetest thing ever. Spitting image of Erin. You are a very lucky family. God has blessed you.
Really smart to marry an electrician. Those guys and plumbers are always needed.
9:31 This looks like the scene straight out of Lambityville Horror.
you should design a way of shaking off the snow panels, you could make a fortune, it is a worldwide need.
Glad you're back on YT. Was a littel worried that y'all had had enough of us. :)
Hope everything is alright and that your just taking time off. Miss you all, but hope you're enjoying some rest away from video making.
The family of hard workers. Thanks for taking us along on some of your daily activities. We enjoy them. Stay warm and take care. Bob
Your family is the BEST!
You guys are getting what we got in Charleston last night. took me 4 hours to get to work in Flatwoods. Bundle up and stay warm.
Your dedication to your animals show how beautiful they are. Ellie and her brothers know how to care for them❤
Your video's bring me so much joy to watch. I laugh and I smile. Thank you.
You guys are the best shepherds EVER! 🥰❤️🔥
Recommendation...throw a 16oz. water bottle (water + 1/4 cup salt) in the sheep's water bucket. Not sure though if it'll work down into the single digits!
you had twins last year 2023, you are lucky with twins. The lights and heating in the sheds will help this year 2024 big time
Leon is a life saver. Watcher of the lands. 🤗
I loved the shot of the lights going on over Josh's head in the barn. A project of passion and functionality. Looked great to just throw a switch and see what you're doing!
You could always use a small fish tank water heater to keep the drinking water for the sheep from freezing :)
Hope that everyone is staying warm. Here in Tulsa it was -3 on Monday and -2 today( that's with out the wind chill that's actual temperature adding the wind chill it feels like -17). It's been definitely keep everyone inside around here people and animals. Looks like you got everything ready for the animals.
Love the video's. I'm always amazed at how you capture nature at its best and your house build etc. Great video's Erin and Josh.
Your Family Makes My Day-Thank You--You Rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the baby lambs.
We are not used to -1° with chill colder than that and 8 inches of snow in Grandview Tennessee. You guys stay safe.❤
hey josh and erin. to keep the water for the sheep from freezing you can use tracing what we use in the Netherlands. it is a low voltige and amp watertight electrical wire that you can wind around the bucket! succes!
Glad you got the sheep back in unity near the barn pasture. Those are some very cute lambs...stay healthy and safe...:)
I know how it is going out in cold or late at night to check on the farm or finish a project. Great job on instilling those values onto your children
WOW that’s cold. I’m sitting in an airconditioned room, 34C here in tropical North Queensland Australia. Love how your kids are fully involved with the running of your homestead. Also helping out with your new venture the cafe 👏👏👏👏👏
You are amazing! What a great life you’ve established on your property! Just think how much more you appreciate that warm fire after you come in from working and those freezing temperatures!!
So very thankful for our warm fire and for hot showers! ❤️
beautiful baby lambs.
🙋♀️❤️. Thinking of you all. Hope all is well.
Thank you for thinking of us! ❤️ We will have a new video for you on Sunday 😊
We're from up in Minnesota. So far we've had 3 days of below zero actual temps, with 39 below wind chills. We aren't expecting any temps above freezing for at least another week.
I'm cold-watching you guys!
Living the dream! One day at a time! Its gonna warm up next week!!
Loved the video you guys are the best good at building and just as good with your animals the precious part is that your kids all take part in caring for them❤
Such a long way from some concrete pilings and an old RV. Just amazing. Sadly, the polar jet stream along the arctic is likely going to break more often with global warming. Hope you all can stay safe!
Rewatching in anticipation of what comes next. Lots of love to you and yours
Edit: "look how pretty you are", then Ellie goes to take off her glove to FEEL the prettiness of a cow munching on its' fodder. (There is nothing like watching an animal enjoying its' food)(perhaps that is why we humans enjoy dining in restaurants)
Best of luck for you guys. Please take care and stay warm
Erin said gnarly!
Always love the way you guys get together and build, but mostly I love how you take care of your animals, beautiful twin lambs, can't wait to hear their names, Eli is so excited of the new arrivals. Eli is just to cute. God bless her. 😅👍🏻🙏🏻
I absolutely love how you take care of all of your animals and the love you have for them. The babies are so adorable and tiny. Stay warm and take care of yourselves.
Just talked to a friend in Montana, the state I was raised in, (now living in Las Vegas, NV where it's currently 59 degrees F.) Montana is having a cold snap, it is 45 degrees below zero and that's not wind chill either. Flat out 45 below zero, Man I'm glad I'm in Las Vegas right now. lol Untill the summer and that sucks big time, weeks of 100+ day temps. Love your show please keep doing it, hope this finds your family and all the animals in great shape.
I love seeing more on the animals. When the wind blows cold, you gotta go with a good face mask. ❤ Please stay warm
Most of your time was taken up dealing with your animals, that was not surprising considering the cold freezing weather most of us are getting. For the last week in the UK, the temperature has been below freezing at night and close to freezing during the day, and with the wind chill feeling even colder.
Stay safe, love from Mike. ❤
Be safe you guy's and love those cute new babies, adorable ❤
Thank you for another wonderful video.
Awe!!! Sweet precious little babies. ❤🙏🏻 Yo all are awesome 😊
I love you guys and your videos please be safe and careful in the weather and keep up your amazing work you're doing I can't wait for the next one with all the love God bless everyone 🙏❤️🙏💞
RVA Robert 1st and we just looked !
Whatever you dress Ellie in, she seems to love cold weather. This video reminds me of growing up on our 30-acre farmette in the 1960s and 70s in eastern Oklahoma.
Josh, your constant laughter! Loved this episode. Good job, Family. 💕🙏🏼💕
He does have a serious temper problem....which luckily is not shown on WWOG.
@@bertplank9892you know him personally or what?
That is quite the family. I think the boys need more film time.
They don't like being on camera much it was said in video about a year ago
Loved getting home from work at 2am then snow blowing! Such a blast. God bless y'all and new lambs family!
Nothing brings on babies like 3am and nasty weather. When we had sheep we didn’t worry about getting lambs big enough for Easter time, so we planned for lambing into March or April. Dairy cows year ‘round. Our friends and neighbors who did early lambing, which we helped with every time, had more difficulties. One thing we always had available, besides the barn and plenty of bedding, was heat lamps. HUGE help in frigid temps for the little ones for extra warmth, even with Mama there. Of course where we’re at in a real winter (not these open winters) we get a lot more snow and colder temps. Second half of January into February can get pretty bitter. I’ll take these single digit negatives better than some of those nights we’ve had where it can get as low as -25 to -30 and a few times -40 or more. PA is not too far North from you though.
Carried 5 gallon jugs of hot water out to melt ice was always “fun”.
Winter 2007 we had LONG overdue goat kids born third and fourth week of January, both on THE worst nights. I think -44°F. Yuck. The long expected part was we got the mothers (both WAY too wild) in October and was told they were pregnant and the window was Thanksgiving to Christmas at most. 😂
So cute 2 more to the family.. ❤❤
So glad to see you all work together.,
Stay warm.. Here in colorado on Tuesday morning was -19° .Brrr
Congratulations on the twins 🎉🙏
Another treat. "Call that a #14 special." Spark talk.
Thank you, J+E.
Cheers
New babies at wild and wonderful, Elie so excited , she loves her baby lambs, it's to cute. Lambs all warm and toasty for the cold blast coming, animals at wild and wonderful live a great farm life. Love it.
Svaka vam čast 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Prava ste obitelj puna ljubavi prema djeci i životinjama. Samo tako nastavite dalje 😇🙏🍀❤️🔥😎🇭🇷🥂
Freezing here in NC as well.
I hope thing are going well for you guys. When is the cafe opening? Good luck guys and congrats on the baby lambs🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️
Cold they said, fun fun fun! Stay safe, all!!! ❄️❄️🐑🐏❄️❄️
Aloha guys ⛱️ 🌴 The new babies are the cutest ' what a gift ❤ Funny thing here in Hawaii the temperature has been getting down below 60° at night and for us thats freezing 🥶 cold for us 😆 Whats even funnier is the tourists can figure out why all the locals are bundled up like Eskimos while they are in shorts 😄
Many blessings to all of you 🙏 this season from our Ohana Family to yours ! Keep the hot cocoa flowing and with Josh's hot espressos and you'll be just fine 😋 🐏 ❤
Thanks Barrack for your communication.....best regards to Big Mike.
@bertplank9892 You don't need to be harrasing me ' I will report you
I MISS YOU GUYS ITS BEEN 9 DAYS.. DID THE STORM BLOW YOU IN PAST MOUNTAINS.. ❤😂😂😂😂
I'm so glad the wwog family is working hard, and doing well in this weather. Ellie is still such a delight, and her brothers as well. The animals all depend on you and love you. It was fun seeing the mommas and their baby lambs, then watching Erin mothering delighted little Ellie and taking care of the whole family. Josh works hard, has it good and knows and loves it all.
