In the original film that started it all, "Above the Law" he too was mugged at a convenience shop. What made the aftermath of that scene was him getting into his vehicle to enjoy the classic tune by beloved trumpetist Chuck Mangione "It feels so good" In my view one of the most majestic pieces of cinematographic history.
Who cares if he's not the best Karate expert. He's still a bad ass actor...I'd like to see anybody off the street play that part as good as he does!
