- My wife and I quit our jobs in January of 2014 and traveled through Fiji, New Zealand, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, India, Nepal, China and Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, and Australia for 9 months. I took a photo everyday, never cut the beard, and put this time-lapse together for you all to enjoy it's epic growth.

Can I ask how you afforded to do all that without a salary? Was it just saving up a bunch or were there other cheap travel methods youd recommend?
Saved for many years, but you can definitely live on a budget in many countries (couch surfing, cheap hostels, street food, bus travel, etc.).

+N73B60 I'll tell you what I told the dude below: Lots of planning and lots of saving. We did not work while traveling. We did sell most of our stuff before we left on the trip, but also made conscious decisions to save extra before we left (i.e. moved to a smaller/cheaper apartment, paid off car loan early to save interest, etc.). Most of the places we traveled to were quite cheap, which also helped our dollar go further. Hope you can pull off a similar trip!

Oscar Lund hey oscar. You can do something just like this with 5-10k saved. Obviously, you can go longer and to more expensive places if you have more saved, but I think it's important to realize you can live very simply in Southeast Asia (for example) for very little money. The bulk of the initial cost is the plane flight. Depending on where you live, you will likely spend more on bills / your routine than you would traveling...with that said, for a similar duration, I would set your goal to 20k and see what you can achieve. Good luck!
set your goal at 15k$ after flights. that will let you travel for quite some time in Asia. if you can't save that much, do worry, just do the best you can and go for it.

Of course with money and sponsors so that comes down below 1% of us, if everyone was traveling and spending money who would remain to be sponsors and to be in fact where else money would come from if everyone was traveling? Still may this world someday become lands without borders even if not all countries but at least few neighboring countries, that would be sufficient, this kinda video actually upsets me rather than motivating, cos my reality doesn't allow me to travel without high cost and sacrifices that would rapture my family and existence, how these people can just go around and say we can do it too? Surely their reality of existence is never the same as ours,!
We we’re definitely lucky to be in a position to have jobs and save money for several years for this trip, but there was no sponsorship. Also, we were a bit younger and had no children or dependents. A combination of many factors enabled this trip which I am very grateful for. I hope one day you can experience your own adventure! Good luck!
