In 2014 I quit my job and sold my stuff to travel the world. Since then I have been filming one second every day to create this video.
When I began making this video I had already planned to use One Day (Wankelmut Remix) as the backing music. Then it just so happened that Wankelmut was playing in Perth! (where I am now). Not one to miss an opportunity, I messaged him and he told me to come down and film the final scene. What a guy!
Unfortunately I had my camera stolen after 8 months and so I lost a lot of footage. I've tried to piece together what I had to create this video, but there were a lot more awesome clips that aren't even on here!
Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon.
That's why this year, starting October 1st, I will be creating a daily video blog showing you how I travel the World on a budget.
No glitz. No glamour. Just a man and his backpack.

Here are the answers to some of your questions:
    How much did you save?
After selling all my stuff, and paying off my overdraft and credit cards, I had roughly £5000 ($9000US). This isn’t a massive amount of money to travel on for a year, but if you budget right then it’s still more than enough.
    What was your budget?
On average I spent 20-25 USD a day. This worked out as more in certain places (e.g. Europe, Dubai) and less in others (e.g. India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Indonesia). I stayed in hostels and dorms everywhere to keep the costs down and ate mostly local street food or cooked myself. I didn’t do any organized tours and prioritized the tourist attractions I wanted to pay for. I travelled slowly and learned to barter - everything is negotiable.
    What countries did you visit?
The countries I went to in the past year, in order, are: Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, UAE, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. I’ve been traveling ever since.
What did you edit with and what were the cameras?
I used Premiere Pro CC to edit the video and it was all filmed on a GoPro 3 Black and Sony Handycam.
How has this trip changed you?
One of the ways in which this trip has changed my outlook is that I want to lead a location independent life, at least for the next few years. This means I just want to continue traveling the World, working off my laptop and picking up extra money where I can. What I really want to do is show people first-hand how possible it is to travel the world on a budget. Before you do it, it seems like an impossible task and often people don’t believe that it is viable on a budget of 20-25USD a day. That’s what I want to make my life about and use my channel for.
Hopefully with your support, I can make that a reality.
Any more questions, please post them below and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

@I am Batman for some people joining the military is worth it. It's either a love or hate thing. as far as traveling goes... Yea you'll travel depending on the branch.... but there's alot of restrictions.. you're on a leash. I've seen some places including Rio Peru Chile Florida san Diego and Virginia but I wouldn't say that I enjoyed them as much as I would ve liked to because I was tied to the military with curfews in foreign countries and what not. but the military is what you make it tbh.

This inspires me to live out of a backpack. Sometimes I get fed up with STUFF. It would be a dream to try and live STUFF-free, travel the world, and help the people I come across if they need help.

+couscousandhumus see if you are afraid of the trip , places to visit , money then the Internet is your place. Research online. Plan every detail. Now if you're afraid of leaving your comfort zone then let me tell you one thing . Life is too freaking short. One day you will die. It might be eternal darkness and silence or something beyond our knowledge. All the things you've achieved , all your fears , embarrassments will be gone. Nobody (maybe till a decade) will remember you. You will just be someone out of the billions of people who lived on this planet. Now what do u have to do? Just live your life. Travel makes you happy then Just DO IT!!!!! This might be a life changing adventure. If u let this pass one day in your 70's you will be thinking that I had every opportunity to travel . But fear stopped me. You'll feel BAD . very bad. You don't want to have regrets because it may suck u till death. Just do it. Quit whatever you are doing and plan from now. Just experience life.

+couscousandhumus and life is too short to keep playing this game. My grandpa before his death told me the same. He sail at the end you regret the chances you didn't take rather then the choices you make. Just keep doing what u love. Peace 😀

+taarush v very true. life is short.. that's why i be in Indonesia for 8 days on a budget holidays next week. alone. i am planning for an autumn solo trip in europe for a month ( plus) this year. didn't cover europe much when i was on a group trip with my friends way back when and heck i'll be in my 50 in June.. LOL.. people always associated travel with a nice hotel with nice room and service.. honey, that's what the TV and ads tells you.. it's expensive if you listen to them.. Do on your own.. but do lot of homework on where you want to go and heading.. don't just pack and leave.

Firstly, this was an excellent video and I thank you for creating such a fine piece of art.
Secondly, while watching this, it made me slightly sad, not because of the content, but because all I am doing is sitting at a deck in front of a screen whereas you are out living life and experiencing many different cultures. I am still in school (second last year), and want to teach English in South Korea, where I am originally from. After watching this video, I think after I do this I will go on a journey very similar to the one you did.
I think this journey you took is not just good for the enjoyment, but also helps fulfill your life, as well as really finding your purpose in life.
I cannot thank you enough for making this masterpiece, and I am hopping off the computer straight away and writing down a list of countries I would like to visit :)

There is only one culture, Islam.
All other ways of life and thinking prove false in the light and purity of Islamic teachings. Do not seek fame or internet accolades as this man has. Seek Allah and his prophet Muhammad PBUH .
Declare your shahada and find peace in the beauty of Islam.

Anthony Leach While that may be true to some degree, it's also very difficult and challenging to break free of that. The world is not really set up to allow it.
Anything and everything you want to do in life requires money. No one can just head off and live in complete isolation and independence. You'll need people for something at some point, whether it's for dental care or clothes or food or a million other things.

One does not simply quit his job to travel the world. Because money and shit.

    • @justayoutube749
      @justayoutube749 7 років тому +24

lucabrito well, if you want to it's fullt posseble to make it happen, i'm 18, worked as hell for 3 months during sommer, went to Australia get a job enjoying the visa etc and plans and oppertunities from there is massive, just keep traveling, work a little bit somewhere else, go another place etc, oppertunities is many. so if you want to you can find a way to make it happen.

Just a UA-cam You make it sound like a person can just show up somewhere and "get a job," earn some money, and continue on. What does one do if he shows up somewhere, needs money, can't get a job, and has nothing?

    • @justayoutube749
      @justayoutube749 7 років тому +14

It's a risk offcourse, though that would be the same problem as being home and not getting a job. If anything you can go to countries wich is more travelers friendly and you would have a bigger chance of getting a job.

+Troyce Douglas | You actually don't need much money. Most hostels let you stay for free in exchange for some hours of cleaning or whatever. (Almost always includes food, water, etc). Travel can be fairly cheap depending on where you go, southeast asia is very cheap. You can *buy* a cheap simplistic motorcycle for under $200 and travel around with that. The only real expense is restaurants, provisions and the plane ticket to wherever you want to go. You can always sail too, XD. Travel isn't about money, it's about finding a way to make it nearly costless.

gandalf Seems easier said than done. Me, I get skittish about the idea of not being sure about things, so I would be very nervous going somewhere and hoping they'll let me work for my stay.

Look it's hard to watch as it gives flashbacks to blair witch project shaky cam shots. That doesn't take away, at least for those who know what travelling is like, to the hard work that each second of your journey takes. Let alone the editing hours afterwards.
