@@thatguyonabicycleofconsurv3908 It all depends on how a person wants to do it yes? In the 1970th many people traveled even during the Vietnam war which is dangerous, today too can be dangerous in some parts of the World. Back then people chatted among themselves about the experiences they had today we are broadcasting it all over the social media. The biggest motivator is also making money by filming others about their travels and experiences. UA-cam brought incentives to motivate people to share their experiences. I enjoy it and goes both ways.

Nora Dunn's perspectives about travel have encouraged and inspired me to pursue this kind of lifestyle. I feel like I don't belong to an organization or a company and just remain as an employee for the rest of my life. I consider myself a free soul who wants to experience the world. I'm building the foundations of my plan to pursue an online career and save up before I start traveling. My first destination would be Southeast Asia since this is the region where my country, the Philippines, belongs, and explore other countries either at the end of this year or the first quarter of next year. And, who knows, I might find opportunities in Latin America or other parts of Asia or Europe. Thank you so much, Exploring Alternatives, for your insightful videos! Why have I just met you now? :)

Lately I've been doing 3 months in Schengen, then 3 in Croatia, but I'm buying a house in Croatia which will give me 9 months a year to travel freely in Croatia. If you want to travel to a country that requires visas then send their embassy an e mail to ask how they are doing visas lately. Many countries have visa waivers these days. It depends on where you are from, but you can sort it not too difficulty.

Too often people skip the fact they already "had money" before they began their travel lifestyle, leading you to believe they magically did it all with nothing. Its phenomenal how you have structured the video and clarified so many things! However I would like to add something, being an Indian we have to give interview to get visa(which is a toiling process and very difficult to get especially if you are young, not financially strong or single) to whole Europe, most of Americas, New Zealand, Australia and many other beautiful countries. This turns out to be the first biggest hurdle in any kind of travelling that we would want to do. And secondly, Indian Rupee is depreciating everyday so how much ever hard we work to have enough to start travelling will not be enough.

all true! it is way cheaper for me to keep traveling than to stop for too long at home in california. been lucky in ways that can only happen by taking chances.

Beautiful experience. Thank you for sharing and for the continued inspiration, Nora. My partner and I are into our second year of travel. Our experience so far fully agrees with Nora's! I wish for the same experience of freedom for everyone - may be just what we need to fully understand our shared humanity.

Nice! I'm at the 10-year mark and, while I've been to a whole lot less countries than Nora, we share the slomad (slow nomad) lifestyle. Different than her, I started with practically no money and lived hand-to-mouth most of the time. Also different, I rent with locals where I go and thus avoid "gringo" prices. Most countries in the world - including most European ones - are quite cheap to live in, if you live like a local. My biggest lesson has been that low cost of living can coexist with high quality of life (and I don't mean material things). After a decade, though, I'm calling it quits cause, as I get older, other aspects of life are becoming more important.

Full time travel is not for everyone. Nora's way is at times too glamorous for most regular, low-key world travellers. Good for you to know when to quit.

So I'm 19 and traveling with my girlfriend, currently we are in Asia (flying on to Sri Lanka today). We always go for on of the cheapest hostels, sometimes even ask if we can sleep in one single bed together to get a reduced price. We share a lifestraw bottle so we don't have any running costs for water. So Transportation is by far the biggest expense for us, but we will try to hitchhike more from now on.

What a life to live! I am sure her background in finance helped her stretch her dollar.
However, I remain skeptical. How much time are you really left with after working on a farm and maintaining your online business?
Looks like this field of travel blogging is getting increasingly saturated.

There is a new generation of folks determined to fly around the world to rack up countries. My adult son is one of them. They burn more fossil fuel than a suburban household and never think about that when proselytizing about their life style. Kudos to Nora for staying in one place for months at a time even longer. And ALWAYS remember : your ability to experience other cultures is made possible because other humans stay in one place working their jobs dawn to dusk, day in and day out. Those stationary souls provide the infrastructure for your personal.use.
