I have the AD22. Both guitars are wonderful! For me, the AD22 is a once in a lifetime guitar. It’s very special to me and is the exact sound I wanted! I can’t believe that I own it, sometimes I tell my wife I can’t believe I own such a nice guitar! Which ever guitar best suits you and the sound you are looking for is the best for you! Everyone is unique!
I’m so very happy with my AD22!
Last month, I bought a GT mahogany.
In the store, they had the GT, the AD22 and a Martin 000-15M. Of the three, the AD22 sounded the best by far! Lots of punch and low-mid.
The 000-15M sounded good but was lacking low-mid. (Was very surprised..)
The GT was sitting between the two. I finally decided to get this one because I wanted at first to upgrade from my GS mini. The GT was the best choice and I love it.
By the way, I love watching your channel. Keep up the good work!
Woah! Big clam Chris. I’m very happy you didn’t edit it out. I really enjoy watching you two guys.
i had the opportunity to try both out. I found the GT more comfortable, noticeably lighter, slightly louder and to my ear I prefered the tone. Thinking about adding the GTe mahogany to my collection.
Did you get the Ash wood one?
Been waiting for someone to make a comparison video on these 2 gorgeous guitars, and guess you guys are the first! Thank you! BTW I guess it's the AD22e for me.
thank you guys for the good work you're doing!!!
The GTE has more bass and a scouped tone, where the AD22e has more of a mid-range sound and not as full. It’s the GTE all the way for me.
Thanks. Nice comparison. I’m partial to the GT. Might be in the minority here, but it really sounds balanced and appealing. It is close though.
NICE VIDEO !!! Greetings from Europe , Estonia.
Thanks for the comparison. I picked the AD22E from the Martin comparison. I still LIKE the AD22E more. For GT, I liked the GT 611eLTD, the Alamo GT Mission inlays. Thanks
The AD22 has more bass and touch more high end. They’re both very warm sounding. I bought the AD22 just before the GT mahogany came out. I had no idea that the GT mahogany was coming out and was having a bit of buyers remorse when the GT came out. They’re both great guitars and I’m happy with my purchase. Thanks for the video.
I’m hearing the exact opposite.
thank you for the comparison of these two magnificent guitars, to my ears the AD seems warmer because it has more bass, the GT has a very similar treble to the AD but since it has less bass it seems more "in your face"
So... Having watched a bunch of demos on the GT mahogany I went to my guitar store and did the try outs. GT mahogany Vs GT black top Vs GT urban ash. Whilst sitting there the GT urban ash was the winner to my ears. However, I asked the guy to play whilst I listened out front.... A must for all acoustic demoing. The GT mahogany blew the others out of the water. The tone was so much fuller in front of the guitar than sat a top of it. My experience was confirmed when I got home and recorded the thing. Sounds amazing. The only guitar I own that sounds so much different in playing position than in front. Mahogany GT all the way.
Thank you for that. I believe I’ll sell my 114CE and Guild 260 Deluxe to get the GTE Mahogany!
The 322e 12-fret is the best choice for those seeking a warm sound and great playability.
My “go to” guitar 🙂
In your opinion
I have the GT hog and absolutely love it. I’m a smaller guy, so I use my hog mini for everyday use, GT for weekend performing. Now I want the 811e. 😁
These guys are my favorite, especially when they talk Taylors.
The AD line is amazing....it's taking over Taylor, as is the Grand Pacific shape.
I have an AD17e and a GC3....I miss the GC range, but they are all so good. You cannot go wrong with Taylor.
I really want a solid hog, though. I prefer a small body hog due to the warmth and harmonics involved. I have a 1963 Martin 5-15 Tenor guitar that is so amazing, but I really want a taylor hog. Would probably go with the AD22 over the GT ,though. I'm a big guy at 6'3" and 250 lbs.
Decisions, decisions...I'll take whatever you want send me. All I know for sure is I will probably wake up again tomorrow with Chris ' songs running around my brain just like so many times before.
Would you guys consider making a video on the recent Taylor price hike, with some insight from your prospective as a distributor and some inside knowledge and understanding from manufacturers prospective and from first hand interaction with customers who buy the guitars and understanding their prospective of trying to save money and trying to get the best bang for the money, getting something that depreciates least and sounds best?
I didn’t know the prices went up by $500 on the k24ce which I been saving for…
Is this something that happens every few years? Is this something blamed on COVID? Wood shortage? New technology/RND spent on developing the new V bracing? Is Taylor trying to revamp its lineup and adjusting the prices to be a even higher tier(unlikely due to the size of its lineup)?
Is this a sign for people to buy certain guitars that will be even rarer and less available?
I know discussing pricing is a touchy subject, but I’m thinking about the whole lineup and price hike across the board, not just a specific model or at a given retailer or what discounts could be had… Looking at the bigger picture here.
Just bought the GTE Mahogany. Love it. If there is one thing I want in an acoustic it's a smooth, mellow but articulate tone. I hate brash, bright sounding acoustics more than I can convey in words. Taylor are known for bright sounding guitars - so I never thought I would get on with one. But this is wonderful. For my money, this GTE mahogany has a sweeter tone than Martin's equivalent 00 15 series all-mahogany. This has a far nicer strummed voice. The Martin sounds scratchy by comparison and less well-balanced. For a small guitar it isn't boxy sounding at all but open and resonant. Another big bonus over the Martin (which I do like BTW) is its superior playability. It has a shorter scale, more rolled edges on the fretboard and the fretboard itself has a lower radius (i.e more curve). Would have preferred it without electronics, but that's no big deal. A winner if you are after playability and a rich, open voice in a small guitar.
That hog GT is going to be killer when it opens up. Love it!
Between these two, i’m go for the AD22 because fits better for the recording studio. The GT sounds beautiful and fuller with that body on the lows but in the mix tends to fight with the bass on that area. AD22 is more close to the “ready sound“ with this slightly low shelving on that area but without loosing the body. It Is more on the juice mid zone. Also the GT has more snappy attack while the AD22 is more sweet and controlled.
Save your money a little longer for a 326ce if you want a killer, do everything, couchable guitar with amazing warm tone and playability. It has the GC short scale which for me is the Goldilocks scale length. I can finger pick it all night on my bed, Indian style with the lower bout off the side. It strums like a heavyweight too.
Hey hey hey! No bad mouthing Martin guys. 😉
Everyone here is saying which one they like better. I’m over here just enjoying guitar.
Thank you for this. There’s a Hog GT in my future.
How do they stack up to the Baby Taylor? I am looking for a small one to take over the road with me so I can get in more practice.
GT all the way for me. Warmer fuller sound with more depth than the AD. I bought the hog and absolutely love it. It almost plays itself which is great for my very arthritic fingers.
The AD22 seemed to have more definition in the top end to me. Did you ever do a comparison to the AD27?
Unfortunately the slightly narrower nut on all the GTs doesn’t work for my larger fingers. So it’s the AD22
What is the song (8:20) you play all the time in these demos? Thanks in advance
From the time when I bought GTe, it's my favourite guitar. It's very real guitar with exclusive and unique sound.
I have more better guitars "on the paper" but I the most often play on this GTe. The bought of this guitar was very good idea :-)
Love all hog but I think the sapelle actually sounds better ?!?!
Does anyone have both? Which of those has a smaller body? (the length of the bottom part of the body)
I bought the first AD22e ya'll got in. After listening, I still prefer the AD22e.
These are the two guitars I have been considering, and from this video I would have to go with the GTe Mahogany.
How difficult is it to remove the pick guard from a new guitar?
You can use a hair dryer. Not hard.
So, which one has less tension?
Have the 22e . But I like the sound of the GT since the first gig . Love it . But the 22 is mine and for now and forever””it will be .
Why’s the truss rod cover missing from the GT? I have a GT urban ash and AD22. I agree with Cooper. Having them in different tone woods is great. The GT urban ash is a louder guitar. When going to the GT from the AD I find I need to back off a bit.
We were using the prototype sample we got from Taylor that didn't have the truss rod cover! Taylor did ship us one that has since been put on the guitar, though!
Since I had the DRS1 I've become a Hog lover and really loving Hog guitars my Martin 00015SM and my Gs Mini Mahogany. Would really wanna try the GT here hopefully they would be available with our local.
Review Sire acoustics, maybe compare to some other well known brands
Which is smaller; the GTE or the AD22e?
I know this video is for Taylor guitars but I have a question about an old Yamaha guitar. I would like feedback on the following. If you had a choice to buy a new Yamaha FG 800 for $220 or a Yamaha LW-5 (1995 Original price $600, good condition) for $180, which would you buy? Any feedback would be appreciated.
search for a Yamaha video to post your question
To my eyes the GTe, to my ears the AD22e.
A bigger body guitar will always sound fuller and richer than a smaller body guitar. That's physics. I play guitar as a support to singing, so bigger and louder do not suit my purposes. The AD22e meets my needs much better than a GT or a GA (my fave model that I own a few of already).
Gt is bassier. Great comparison well done.
I had to hold back on my strumming for the GT to sounds good ... one minute later ... You can really strum the GTs! :)
Chris can you play a different tone Copper rules
Pardon Sir!! If i order something from your site will it ship to India?
Hope to find a positive answer.
So, Chris and Cooper which one would you purchase if you had the money to spend? Oh, Chris said he would buy the GT all mahogany.
And if Taylor does an AD27e Flame top short scale, LET ME KNOW.
it's a Taylor Mustang. 24 and an eigth scale length.
AD22 sounds like a sapele guitar, which it largely is. Chris gets his tone comments exactly wrong/reversed. What’s the deal?? I like sapele and mahogany as well. Here you get to choose which tonewood you prefer. It’s really quite simple.
Ob second listening, I prefer the GT. It is the latest concept from the amazing brain of Andy Powers, and everyone loves their Mini...
I am concerned about the nut width though.
Yeah, that's an issue. I wish it were 1.75. At least it's not the 1 11/16. May pull the trigger anyway.
7:52 gt
8:48 ad22
I would have preferred Gte Mahogany with the ebony fretboard (like the gs mini) for better balance. The Gs Mini Mahogany is better and costs 1/3 less. The Gte Mahogany has only the ES2 good.
But we all know that if Taylor reintroduced the Gs Mini Mahogany ES2 it would no longer sell anything in the slightly higher ranges.
I always encourage people to buy used rather than new for this reason. You'll find the sound you want at a lower price point usually!
To me the GTe just sounds warmer & richer, I'd hafta play 'em both to be sure...
surprised that i like the sound of the AD22e more. i was rooting for the GT. 😐
The GT has a fuller lower end-more bass.
Geez they already discontinued the GTe mahogany ? A flaw with the design ?
I suspected that. I bought one, and it developed a crack in the back after a few weeks so I had to return it. Maybe just bad luck, but I got the impression it wasn't the first one that had been returned. Might replace it with the AD22, a different construct and of course sapele back and sides (as is the GTe's replacement the AD21e). I'll never know for sure, but that was an AWFULLY quick discontinuance.
The GT sounds better to my ears.
Get is the better
Fun just ain’t serious 🧐 neo means no one knows! Wasn’t that ditty from Tony ?
IF I had a CHOICE I would pick the MARTIN 000-15 Mahogany.😂🤣😂
LOL...I would have bet a year's salary that there would be a comment from a Martin fan on here before I even clicked on the video. Don't get me wrong I love Martin guitars and own a couple, including a 15 series, but it always cracks me up how much smack Martin fans talk about Taylor guitars in so many Tayor videos all over UA-cam. Even when the video is not even comparing a Taylor to a Martin. The Martin fanboys are really the only bad thing about Martin guitars...😂🤣😂
@@robf7213 Nothing against TAYLOR Guitars. But people need to be reminded from time to time who the GENUINE Article are.😎😎😎
I played them all at the store and took home the Taylor AD22
@@luisbenites4825 I did the same. There's something about that AD22.
Yamaha Red Label is still better
Too much choice….
Talk, talk ,talk ,talk talk. So much unnecessary waffle. Every time.
You got waffles?
