    Thank you my Brotherman, your Praise and Worship humble me. I know what you mean about "before there were 5 (or 6) string basses, I tried tuning down but never got it to work for me, so I went on to explore the bell notes. Listening to you tonite, I will have to find those low notes again, they really rumble the room! Come soon Lord Jesus.

    I concede that there are a preponderance of people who want to see what he does rather than why he does what he does. There are other videos that provide that. Here, what you see is what you get.

    I really enjoyed the video. You have some mad chops, my friend. You seem like a real class act with a whole lot of heart and charisma. Your stories are very entertaining. After all the media coverage and fame, the first thing you say is "I hope I don't mess up". Its rare to find that kind of humbleness and poise in famous musicians today. Have you ever thought about holding bass player workshops? Or possibly doing some sermons? God Bless.

    There are other videos of Andrew here on UA-cam (look to the right) . Thank you for your comments but THIS video does exactly as I intended it to do. Thank you.

    Andrew has played basses made by Michael Tobias since the 1990's. His current basses are Mike's MTD brand of basses. BTW, Andrew (as he mentions in the video) is on the cover of the Jan Bass Player Magazine. There is even a picture of me on page34 holding a MTD bass in Michael's booth. I edited teh video with the intention of giving the viewr more information without having a long running time.

    @japa1990 Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar Mass Choir - the recording at Howard University was so incredible - around 1985 or 6, New Jersey Mass Choir, Daryl Coley - a recording the nineties somewhere because Jimmy Neuble did a lot of that back then -- too many to name because he did a lot of live stuff w/ gospel artists

    Its called Thank You Lord originally done by the late Bishop Walter Hawkins in the late 80's or maybe early 90's.

    Think about it, straps rarely break unexpectedly. They are more likely to not be put on properly and just fall as a result of that. I used straplocks forever and I even put them on improperly once and the bass did not hole (luckily for me I still had a hand holding the bass...

    @nigel670202 I think he uses MTD Strings. It is not uncommon that any time you change string gauges you would have to adjust the truss rod (or have it done for you by a repairman if you do not understand the process).

  • @namuxtree
    @namuxtree 12 років тому

    He does not use MTD strings. He uses Dean Markley SR2000's in light gauge tuned a whole step down. +1 about the set up suggestion.

    I like the way you edited the vid then sir it almost makes me more interested in what he's saying. but sorry to have not been clear I mean the guitarist that is playing with Andrew, I am curious as to the make of that guitar. I've known about MTD for sometimes now, very popular in the gospel music bass realm

    @nigel670202 basslabd is right. You can also replace the strings one by one.
    This way the neck wont bend back. If you replace all strings at once the neck needs time to settle back.
    Thats the rattle.

    another SA heard from... Well with 80,000 views you have a long way to go to catch up. This interview has some real important information that you are missing. We have all heard the great bass playing of Andrew Gouche. Now we know why he played bass and why he chooses to detune his bass and some insight who Andrew Gouche is. When you learn how to convey that via video you will have achieved something.

    @OzziePerch I take it, you already know how and why to tune down. I watched young perfectos a while back grumble at Bill Dickens who was TEACHING how to keep getting gigs after getting started. Show up on time, be prepared and so forth. These "phenoms" only wanted to hear Bill play. SO SAD. This info is invaluable, yet the primas think playing well alone makes a career. LEARN so as not to CHOKE when you get the gig.

    I'm a video director and I'd like to know a good way to make both an interview and an instrumental solo unlistenable. Wait! I've Got it! I'll play them both at the same time! That way whatever fine points either may have are lost to miscellation! Okay, I'm off to wreck my first video. Bye!

    That is quite funny because in the English language sarcasm is a tone of voice and cannot be conveyed in written English unless the reader is informed, for example by putting (!) at the end of the sentence.
